FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION DIRECTOR

Job Duties:

  • Administers the Finance Department and the financial operations in areas such as cash management, investments, report preparation, budget preparation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, grants, fixed assets, payroll and fines/fees collections for the general fund and the enterprise fund; reports to the Town Administrator
  • Supervises and directs the Town’s financial operations; formulates and supervises all accounting methods, policies/procedures, forms and records; produces monthly financial statements; completes government agency reports (state and federal); manages State and Federal Grants; assists Town Administrator in the formulation of the Town’s annual operating budget.
  • Acts as the principle financial advisor to the Town Administrator and administers all financial policies, transactions and activities as approved by Town Council; runs the annual audit.
  • Maintains the Town’s accounting software system and ensures each accounting period is balanced and properly archived; ensures procurement procedures are in conformity with Town Ordinances.
  • Acts as HR manager and enrolls new employees in health/insurance benefits, coordinates hiring process, files quarterly SCRS/PORS retirement reports and monthly State health insurance premium reports, responsible for payroll and related reports and tax filings.
  • 40 hours/week; office hours are 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. M-F, must attend bi-monthly council meetings as required.
  • Successfully maintain/update accounting system as required.

Qualifications: Requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance from an accredited university supplemented by two or more years of experience in governmental fund accounting. Candidate must successfully demonstrate knowledge of GASB, fund accounting and internal controls. Working knowledge of accounting software, mastery of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Powerpoint) is essential. A minimum of five years’ governmental accounting experience is required; or a current CPA or CGFO certification will be considered in lieu of experience.

Pay info: $75,000 - $80,000 D.O.E. / Qualifications; paid vacation, employee’s health benefits paid by the Town, with enrollment in the State Health Plan and the SC Retirement Systems Plan.

TRAFFIC OFFICER

JOB SUMMARY:

Provide traffic and law enforcement services within the town limits of Ridgeland, SC.  This includes protecting citizens and their property by patrolling neighborhoods, enforcing traffic laws, responding to calls for assistance, investigating traffic collisions and other related tasks.  Must be well versed in the 56 code of South Carolina as well as TR-310/FR-10 for traffic collision investigations.  Two years minimum of experience preferred on US highways and US interstates.

Engineer (Driver/Operator) Town of Ridgeland Fire Department

Duties:

  • Performs firefighting work, including preventing, combating, and extinguishing fires to protect lives, property, and the environment.
  • Operates firefighting equipment and tools appropriately.
  • Quickly and effectively analyzes hazardous situations and takes appropriate action.
  • Participates in training, classes, and drills.
  • Perform general maintenance work of fire equipment and facilities.
  • Operates firefighting apparatus, including pump operations and driving in emergent and non-emergent conditions.

Position Hours: 48 hours on / 96 hours off

Employee Status: Full-Time

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED supplemented by training in fire service programs or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities; must complete required coursework and maintain required certifications as issued by the S.C. Fire; and must possess a valid and appropriately classed S.C. driver's license.
  • Preferred courses and certifications include:
    o IFSAC/Pro-Board Firefighter I & II
    o Emergency Medical Responder
    o Emergency Medical Technician (Preferred)
    o ICS 100 & 200
    o Emergency Vehicle Driver’s Training
    o Pump Operations
  • Ability to pass firefighter OSHA physical, must be physically capable of performing all tasks and must participate in physical training programs when off-duty.

Pay Info:

  • $50,077 DOE/DOQ, with excellent benefits including paid holidays, participation in the State PORS, State Health Plan with employees’ basic health and dental insurance premiums paid by the Town.
