DAILY CRIME REPORTS – February, 2018

THE FOLLOWING INCIDENTS ARE AN ACCOUNT OF CALLS AND CASES RESPONDED TO BY OFFICERS OF THE RIDGELAND POLICE DEPARTMENT. THESE CASES ARE CLOSED OR CURRENTLY UNDER INVESTIGATION. FEBRUARY 17, 2018

  • 1:40 a.m. – A suspicious black male was reported in the parking lot area of the Wendy’s Restaurant at 8480 Grahamville Road.

  • 6:46 a.m. – A silver Jeep Grand Cherokee was stopped for speeding on I-95 South around the 19 mile marker where driver Courtney Egon Murray was found to be operating under a suspended Florida driver’s license stemming from failure to pay traffic ticket violations.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as the vehicle was released to a licensed passenger.

  • 8:30 a.m. – Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a white GMC Jimmy on Bees Creek Road at the I-95 exit 18 interchange after a check of the displayed South Carolina tag showed it to be registered to a Ford Econoline van.  The driver of the vehicle refused to stop as he turned onto Bees Creek Road traveling North before turning onto Cardinal Drive where he ultimately stopped in front of a private residence and exited the driver’s seat fleeing the area on foot as Officers pursued.  Torrell Kenma Kemp was soon after captured after jumping into a water filled drainage ditch on Hummingbird Drive where he was placed under arrest without further incident and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Little T’s Towing took possession of the vehicle.

  • 9:50 a.m. – A suspicious white male was reported at the intersection of East Wilson and North Logan Street.

  • 10:41 a.m. – A white male pedestrian was reportedly walking North on I-95 at the exit 22 interchange.

  • 12:00 p.m. – A suspicious red Chevy Monte Carlo was reported in the parking lot area of Heron Crossing Apartments at 72 Heron Crossing Drive.

  • 1:15 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 34 mile marker in reference to a blue tractor trailer.

  • 4:05 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 29 mile marker in reference to a black Mercedes SUV.

  • 5:55 p.m. – A Ford Focus and a Ford Expedition both suffered damage after striking a large piece of tire debris in the roadway on I-95 South around the 18 mile marker.  No injuries were reported.

  • 6:33 p.m. – A silver Jeep Cherokee and a gray Nissan Altima were involved in a collision in the parking lot area of the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.  No injuries were reported.

  • 6:37 p.m. – A suspicious Jeep was reported in front of a residence on East Woodlawn Street.

  • 7:07 p.m. – A complaint was received of a black male asking customers and passers by for money in the Harvey’s Grocery Store parking lot area at 8205 East Main Street where responding Officers ultimately placed Anthony Bernard Gibson, 45, on trespass notice for the business property at Management’s request.

  • 8:08 p.m. – A suspicious white male driving a gray Honda Prelude was reported outside of the Star Point BP Station at 11122 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 10:11 p.m. – A suspicious unoccupied Chrysler Pacifica was reported at the intersection of Mango Drive and South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

FEBRUARY 16, 2018

  • 9:03 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted on a male pedestrian at the intersection of Grays Highway and Pine Forest Loop.

  • 9:48 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 36 mile marker in reference to a silver four door sedan.

  • 1:07 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Simply Carolina Kitchen & Bath Showroom at 10688 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 3:31 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on Lowcountry Drive in reference to a gray Dodge Charger.

  • 7:09 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at a residence on Colony Drive in the Bees Creek Plantation Community after an open window was discovered on an unoccupied home.

  • 9:20 p.m. – A civil dispute regarding an eviction process was reported at a residence at Heron Crossing Apartments at 313 Heron Crossing Drive.

  • 9:26 p.m. – A black male was reportedly causing a disturbance at the Gulf Station at 8250 East Main Street after being told to leave the property by the on duty cashier.  Responding Officers soon after located David Leslie Williams, 30, at the EZ Stop IV Station located across the street where he was placed on trespass notice for the Gulf at Management’s request.

FEBRUARY 15, 2018

  • 1:40 a.m. – A suspicious pickup truck was reported at the intersection of East Adams and South Logan Street.

  • 5:08 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 8:25 a.m. – Christopher Singleton turned himself in to RPD Officers at the Jasper County Detention Center at 12008 North Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to an outstanding warrant recently issued against him.  Singleton’s charges stemmed from a February 8th incident in the parking lot area of The Palms Motel at 10735 South Jacob Smart Boulevard where he assaulted a 32 year old male and a pregnant female during a dispute over money before fleeing the area on foot prior to Law Enforcement arrival.

  • 10:02 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted in the Fordville area after an open line 911 call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.

  • 10:21 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on East Wilson Street.

  • 10:47 a.m. – A property damage complaint was filed at a residence on Colony Drive in the Bees Creek Plantation Community after an unknown person used a brick to break the driver’s side window of a gray Dodge Challenger sometime after 4 a.m.

  • 2:45 p.m. – An animal complaint was filed on Captain Bill Road in reference to a dog from a neighboring home roaming the area.

  • 5:51 p.m. – A harassment complaint was filed at the Carolina Collision Center at 11365 North Jacob Smart Boulevard regarding a payment issue stemming from a recent private sale of vehicle parts.

  • 5:56 p.m. – A Lincoln Town Car and a Kia Sedona were involved in a collision at the intersection of Smiths Crossing and Highway 17.  The driver of the Kia was transported by EMS to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for treatment.

  • 10:28 p.m. – An animal complaint was filed on Third Avenue regarding a barking dog at a neighboring residence.

FEBRUARY 14, 2018

  • 2:22 a.m. – A group of suspicious persons were reported inside of a vacant residence on East Adams Street where responding Officers discovered Jarrod Lamar Spann, 40, David Leslie Williams, 30, and Kineta Lou Luther, 51, all sleeping inside of various rooms.  All were placed on trespass notice for three East Adams Street homes at the property owner’s request.

  • 3:13 a.m. – A suspicious person was reported inside of a vacant room at the Ridgeland Weekly Rentals at 67 West Woodlawn Street.

  • 8:36 a.m. – A suspicious female was reported at Heron Crossing Apartments at 72 Heron Crossing Drive.

  • 9:47 a.m. – A financial transaction card forgery/fraud was reported by a female victim in Apopka FL after fraudulent transactions appeared on her Discover Card statement having occurred on February 7th at the Ridgeland Shell Station at 8309 East Main Street as well as the Burger King Restaurant at 8257 East Main Street.  Surveillance video is being reviewed for suspect identification and pending charges.

  • 10:52 a.m. – A black female was reportedly being abusive to a small child in her care in the parking lot area of the Quality Inn Motel at 221 James Taylor Drive.

  • 12:34 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 18 mile marker in reference to a white Dodge Charger.

  • 1:37 p.m. – A complaint was received of a black male asking customers and passers by for money in the parking lot area of the Gulf Station at 8250 East Main Street where responding Officers warned Anthony Bernard Gibson, 45, of the town ordinance prohibiting panhandling.

  • 3:45 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted on a black male witnessed stumbling in the roadway in front of the Star Point BP Station at 11122 North Jacob Smart Boulevard where responding Officers placed David Morrell under arrest and transported him to the Jasper County Detention Center after determining him to be grossly intoxicated.

  • 4:28 p.m. – Three to four small children were reportedly left unattended inside of a black Acura SUV in the Harvey’s Grocery Store parking lot at 8205 East Main Street.

  • 7:30 p.m. – A black Chevy Silverado pickup was involved in a single vehicle collision at the intersection of Fordville and Timberland Roads after the male driver lost control and struck a tree before rolling the vehicle onto it’s side where he then fled the area on foot prior to Law Enforcement arrival.
  • 10:08 p.m. – A verbal domestic dispute between a male tenant and his adult stepson was reported at The Siesta Motel at 10530 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 10:43 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at the Taqueria Rocio Restaurant at 7715 West Main Street after an open door was discovered.

  • 11:29 p.m. – A verbal domestic dispute was reported at The Plantation Inn Motel at 11433 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

FEBRUARY 13, 2018

  • 3:16 a.m. – Two burglaries were reported at separate residences on the same piece of property on East Woodlawn street after the homeowner discovered several items missing from both homes.

  • 5:40 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted at a residence on Shadetree Street after a 911 hang up call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.

  • 9:02 a.m. – A theft was reported at the Boat & RV Megastore at 401 Sycamore Drive after a 40″ television was stolen from inside of a sales model travel trailer.

  • 4:17 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 33 mile marker in reference to a tractor trailer.

  • 5:18 p.m. – An ongoing domestic dispute between a male and a female was reported at the Blue Heron Nature Center at 321 Bailey Lane.

  • 5:50 p.m. – A white Nissan and a white Toyota pickup were reportedly racing on I-95 South around the 27 mile marker.

  • 10:04 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 in reference to a Toyota Camry traveling North between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.

  • 10:10 p.m. – A gray Hyundai was stopped for speeding on I-95 North around the 24 mile marker where driver Carl Etzer Volcy, 47 of Waverly GA, was found to be in possession of two open containers of beer.  He was cited for the offense and assigned a court date prior to leaving the area.

  • 10:59 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 in reference to a black Chevy Tahoe traveling North between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.

FEBRUARY 12, 2018

  • 3:28 p.m. – A suspicious black male was reported at the Ridgeland Coin Laundry at 10246 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 3:40 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue after a tenant suffered a fall and was transported by EMS to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for treatment.

  • 4:45 p.m. – A group of suspicious persons was reported at the Blue Heron Nature Center at 321 Bailey Lane.

  • 7:22 p.m. – Two suspicious vehicles were reported in the parking lot area at Turpin Park at 901 North Logan Street.

  • 7:49 p.m. – A suspicious blue Toyota Camry was reported on Wise Street near the Azalea Avenue intersection.

FEBRUARY 11, 2018

  • 3:15 a.m. – A suspicious vehicle was reported at Pam’s Barber Shop at 716 West Adams Street.

  • 11:54 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted on a male subject after suffering a fall from the bicycle he was riding in front of The Siesta Motel at 10530 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 3:33 p.m. – A suspicious Chevy Cruze was reported on Frontage Road near the entrance to the Ridgeland Correctional Institution.

  • 6:16 p.m. – A large piece of tire debris was reportedly lying on the roadway on I-95 South around the 18 mile marker.

  • 6:47 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted on a disabled silver Lexus passenger car on Old House Road at the Honey Hill curve.

  • 9:49 p.m. – A red Honda Civic was involved in a single vehicle collision on I-95 North around the 19 mile marker after the driver lost control and struck a guardrail before ultimately stopping the vehicle approximately one mile after.  Responding Officers discovered driver Dara Brianne Messenger to be operating under the influence of alcohol resulting in her being placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as J&M Towing took possession of the vehicle.

FEBRUARY 10, 2018

  • 1:27 a.m. – A suspicious Chevy Cruze was reported in the parking lot area of the Jasper Feed & Seed Supply Store at 9988 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 7:15 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Kingdom Touch Ministries Church at 6714 Tillman Road.

  • 9:35 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 27 mile marker in reference to a tractor trailer.

  • 9:50 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on First Avenue.

  • 11:31 a.m. – A Cadillac sedan and a Nissan passenger car were involved in a collision in front of the Bank of Walterboro at 8058 East Main Street.  No injuries were reported.

  • 2:54 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 22 mile marker in reference to a gray Chevy Tahoe.

  • 7:17 p.m. – A verbal dispute over child support between a male and a female in the parking lot area of the Ridgeland School at 250 Jaguar Trail culminated in the female causing damage to the male’s vehicle using a key on the side panels and then a large stone which she used to break the windshield.

  • 8:39 p.m. – A verbal domestic dispute between two males and a female was reported at a residence on East Wilson Street.

  • 9:06 p.m. – A noise complaint was filed on Wise Street regarding a gathering at a neighboring residence.

FEBRUARY 9, 2018

  • 11:16 a.m. – Myra Sevella Lyles was placed under arrest at the Bank of Walterboro at 8058 East Main Street and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center in reference to an outstanding warrant issued against her by the Ridgeland Police Department.  Lyles’ charges stemmed from a February 8th report filed at the Gulf Station at 8250 East Main Street where she was captured on surveillance video stealing store items and money several times between January 28th and February 5th while employed as a cashier.

  • 1:30 p.m. – A burglary was reported at the Hawg Wild Barbecue Restaurant & Catering Service at 10586 South Jacob Smart Boulevard after the business owner discovered a black two burner cook top and a 30 gallon propane tank missing.  The theft is believed to have occurred sometime between January 26th and February 9th.

  • 5:21 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at a vacant residence on Oak Plantation Drive after an unsecured door was discovered by Patrol Officers.

  • 7:34 p.m. – A black male and a black female were reportedly engaged in a verbal dispute at The Palms Motel at 10735 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 10:54 p.m. – A noise complaint was filed at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue.

  • 11:52 p.m. – A road rage incident was reported on I-95 South around the 30 mile marker involving a silver Ford F150 pickup and a blue Hyundai Elantra.

FEBRUARY 8, 2018

  • 12:09 a.m. – A suspicious white female and white male were reported at the EZ Stop IV Station at 80 Blue Heron Drive.

  • 6:33 a.m. – A male pedestrian was reported on I-95 North around the 18 mile marker.  The subject was escorted to the Point South area by responding Officers and warned of the penalties for walking on the interstate.

  • 9:28 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 33 mile marker in reference to a blue tractor trailer.

  • 10:58 a.m. – A complaint was filed regarding unsecured materials falling from the bed of a blue dump truck traveling South on I-95 around the 27 mile marker.

  • 11:00 a.m. – A suspicious white male was reported at the Econo Lodge Motel at 511 James Taylor Drive.

  • 12:31 p.m. – An intoxicated black male was reported in the parking lot area at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue.

  • 2:32 p.m. – A complaint was filed at the Gulf Station at 8250 East Main Street after a routine review of surveillance video and deposit records revealed a female employee having stolen an undisclosed amount of cash as well as several store items at various times between January 28th and February 5th.  A warrant has been issued against Myra Syvella Lyles, 49 of Savannah GA, charging her with breach of trust.

  • 4:23 p.m. – A 17 year old male student was reportedly causing a disturbance on a school bus in the parking lot of the Ridgeland School at 250 Jaguar Trail.

  • 5:34 p.m. – A black Dodge pickup reportedly suffered tire damage after striking a piece of metal debris which allegedly fell from a passing truck on I-95 North around the 17 mile marker.

  • 6:33 p.m. – A suspicious white female driving a burgundy and white pickup was reported at the intersection of South Green and West Adams Street.  The same female was later reported again on North Green Street at 11:27 p.m.

  • 10:14 p.m. – A disturbance was reported at The Palms Motel at 10735 South Jacob Smart Boulevard after a 32 year old male and a pregnant female were assaulted by a black male who then fled the area on foot running North during a dispute over alleged money owed.  A warrant affidavit has been filed against Christopher Singleton, 37 of Garnett SC, charging him with assault & battery 2nd degree.

FEBRUARY 7, 2018

  • 12:05 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the New Hong Kong Restaurant at 8176 East Main Street.

  • 3:27 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted on a silver Chevy Silverado pickup traveling North on I-95 around the 23 mile marker following an Onstar Emergency activation.

  • 10:43 a.m. – Ridgeland Officers traveled to the Jasper/Hampton County line on Highway 278 where Salena Kelley Crosby was turned over to their custody and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center following a traffic stop by Varnville PD where she was found to be listed as a wanted person by the Ridgeland Police Department.  Crosby’s charges stemmed from a February 20th 2017 complaint filed at the Gulf Station at 8250 East Main Street where a routine review of security footage showed her and Joseph Lee Lewis, 33 of Ridgeland, stealing beer from the business on January 31st and again on February 19th.  Co-defendant Lewis was arrested and charged on March 14th 2017 for his part in the incident.

  • 2:07 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 25 mile marker in reference to a white bobtail tractor.

  • 3:12 p.m. – A report was filed by an elderly male victim after information was received from his bank that a total of 9 checks had been presented against his account bearing fraudulent signatures between December 27th 2017 and January 28th 2018 at the South State Bank at 10671 South Jacob Smart Boulevard and the Regions Bank at 11004 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.  A review of surveillance footage and banking records ultimately identified Sakena Lynnette Scales, 33 of Tillman SC, as the person responsible.  Warrant affidavits have been submitted charging her with nine counts of forgery.

  • 5:18 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 14 mile marker in reference to a white Ford Mustang.

  • 5:38 p.m. – A complaint was filed regarding a black male asking customers and passers by for money at the Harvey’s Grocery Store at 8205 East Main Street.

  • 6:47 p.m. – A possible shoplifting was reported at Harvey’s Grocery Store at 8205 East Main Street after a white female was witnessed concealing store items inside of her purse.

FEBRUARY 6, 2018

  • 4:01 a.m. – A traffic hazard was reported on I-95 North around the 18 mile marker after several pieces of metal scaffolding were found lying on the roadway.

  • 11:29 a.m. – A verbal dispute between two tenants was reported at The Forest Motel at 10504 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 11:48 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 21 mile marker in reference to a blue tractor trailer.

  • 3:06 p.m. – A civil dispute between a customer and Management regarding non-payment of an outstanding bill for services rendered was filed at the African Hair Braiding Salon at 8120 East Main Street.

  • 3:45 p.m. – A shoplifting was reported at the Gulf Station at 8250 East Main Street after a black male subject was captured on surveillance video stealing store items by concealing them underneath his clothing.  A warrant affidavit has been filed against Devon Jarrod Battiste, 24 of Ridgeland, charging him with the crime.

  • 5:48 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on Grays Highway.

  • 11:23 p.m. – A black Mercedes was stopped for speeding on I-95 North around the 23 mile marker where driver Javier Alcides Hernandez was found to be operating without a driver’s license.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as the vehicle was released to a licensed passenger.

FEBRUARY 5, 2018

  • 12:51 p.m. – A shoplifting was reported at the EZ Stop IV Station at 80 Blue Heron Drive after a routine review of surveillance video revealed a black male stealing store items from the front register area on February 2nd at approximately 2:30 p.m.  The footage is being reviewed for suspect identification and pending charges.

  • 1:52 p.m. – A complaint of missing medication was reported by a delivery driver in North Carolina after discovering a quantity of prescription pills missing from his belongings following a delivery to the Ridgeland Boat & RV Megastore at 401 Sycamore Drive.

FEBRUARY 4, 2018

  • 2:19 a.m. – A property damage complaint was filed at the EZ Stop IV Station at 80 Blue Heron Drive after a male customer drove away from a fuel pump without removing the nozzle from his vehicle.

  • 2:59 a.m. – RPD Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies responding to a report of a suspicious black Honda Accord in the parking lot of a Church at 4948 Bees Creek Road where driver Mark Devon Phillips Jr., 18 of Hampton SC, was found to be listed as a wanted person by the Hampton Police Department in reference to an outstanding warrant.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center pending extradition as Little T’s Towing took possession of the vehicle.

  • 4:52 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported at the intersection of Tarboro Road and Lowther Lane.

  • 4:53 a.m. – A subject was reportedly operating at 4 wheeler ATV on I-95 South at the exit 21 interchange.

  • 7:29 a.m. – A white male was reportedly causing a disturbance at the Waffle House Restaurant at 8185 East Main Street after repeatedly returning to the business property despite being ordered to leave by Management.  Responding Officers spotted suspect Ronald Scott Wetzel walking away from the property heading East where he immediately became confrontational and began to fight after being stopped for questioning, to include exposing himself by intentionally causing his pants to fall.  He was ultimately taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

  • 10:40 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Tillman Construction Office at 7596 West Main Street.

  • 2:42 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 24 mile marker in reference to a yellow Volvo tractor trailer.

  • 7:24 p.m. – A theft was reported at Harvey’s Grocery Store at 8205 East Main Street after a white male stole a set of keys from a distracted female employee.  They were later returned to the complainant having been taken by an acquaintance by mistake.
  • 8:55 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 18 mile marker in reference to a black Audi.

  • 10:32 p.m. – Carlos Ashanti Kellom Jr. turned himself in to RPD Officers in the parking lot of the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard where he was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center in reference to an outstanding warrant issued by the Ridgeland Police Department.  Kellom’s charges stemmed from a February 1st domestic dispute at The Palms Motel at 10735 South Jacob Smart Boulevard where he assaulted the Mother of his child before fleeing the area prior to Law Enforcement arrival.

FEBRUARY 3, 2018

  • 7:14 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Aussie Auto Body Shop at 1010 West Adams Street.

  • 8:34 a.m. – A shattered aftermarket windshield was removed from the roadway after falling from a transport vehicle at the intersection of Highway 17 and Smiths Crossing.

  • 12:24 p.m. – A female subject was provided an escort to gather belongings at The Palms Motel at 10735 South Jacob Smart Boulevard following a February 1st domestic assault.

  • 12:58 p.m. – A complaint was received of several puppies running into the roadway at the intersection of West Main Street and North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 2:51 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 37 mile marker in reference to a silver Nissan and a red Subaru.

  • 9:12 p.m. – RPD Officers assisted South Carolina Highway Patrol conducting a traffic stop of a black Chevy Suburban on Old House Road around the Good Hope Plantation intersection where driver Abel Gomez-Lopez, 35 of Ridgeland,  was ultimately placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center under SCHP charges of driving under the influence, open container & no driver’s license.

  • 10:28 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported at the intersection of Floyd Street and Second Avenue.

  • 10:47 p.m. – A noise complaint was filed in the Oakridge Trailer Park Community.

FEBRUARY 2, 2018

  • 1:11 a.m. – Two suspicious males were reported at the Dairy Queen Restaurant at 80 Blue Heron Drive.

  • 4:15 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 14 mile marker in reference to a white tractor trailer.

  • 7:23 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Coin Laundry at 10246 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 10:36 a.m. – A harassment complaint was filed at the Subway Restaurant at 8234 East Main Street regarding a black male causing problems with employees.

  • 3:00 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at a residence on North Green Street after Patrol Officers discovered an open door.

  • 6:40 p.m. – A Nissan Sentra was struck by a gray Ford passenger car which then left the area without reporting the collision in the parking lot area of the Dollar General Store at 8123 East Main Street.  No injuries were reported.

  • 10:06 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at a residence on Shadetree Street in the Carters Mill Estates Community after an open line 911 call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.

  • 11:32 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Aussie Auto Body Shop at 1010 West Adams Street.

FEBRUARY 1, 2018

  • 12:00 p.m. – A civil dispute between a customer and Management regarding a vehicle title was reported at the Campers & Fun Stuff sales lot at 11077 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 2:46 p.m. – A discarded and deactivated cell phone was discovered on a bench at the Grahamville Cemetery.  The item was was turned over to RPD Officers pending claim by the rightful owner.

  • 5:11 p.m. – A suspicious white Toyota Camry was reported at the I-95 Northbound truck parking area at the 17 mile marker.

  • 5:22 p.m. – A domestic dispute between a male and a female with a small child in common turned physical at The Palms Motel at 10735 South Jacob Smart Boulevard with the male party assaulting the female in the presence of the child before fleeing the area prior to Law Enforcement arrival.  A warrant has been issued against Carlos Ashanti Kellom Jr., 23 of Ridgeland, charging him with domestic violence 2nd degree.

  • 6:14 p.m. – A silver Nissan Armada was reportedly impeding traffic flow in the parking lot area of the Ridgeland School at 250 Jaguar Trail.

  • 6:59 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 12 mile marker in reference to a silver Honda Accord.

  • 10:08 p.m. – A harassment complaint was filed at a residence on First Avenue regarding unwanted telephone calls.

  • 10:31 p.m. – A domestic dispute between a Mother and her adult son was reported at a residence on East Wilson Street.
