DAILY CRIME REPORTS – January, 2018

THE FOLLOWING INCIDENTS ARE AN ACCOUNT OF CALLS AND CASES RESPONDED TO BY OFFICERS OF THE RIDGELAND POLICE DEPARTMENT. THESE CASES ARE CLOSED OR CURRENTLY UNDER INVESTIGATION. JANUARY 18, 2018

  • 12:42 a.m. – An open door was discovered at the Wendy’s Restaurant at 8480 East Main Street.  No persons were discovered inside and there was no evidence on forced entry or any other criminal activity.

  • 6:27 a.m. – A harassment complaint was filed at the Gulf Station at 8250 East Main Street regarding a previously unreported verbal dispute between a female customer and a staff member that occurred on the afternoon of January 17th.

  • 10:35 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on Colony Drive in the Bees Creek Plantation Community.

  • 11:37 a.m. – A property damage complaint was filed at the Family Dollar Store at 73 South Green Street after a white BMW 430i suffered a small indentation from the door of a subject exiting a white Dodge Dakota pickup parked next to it.

  • 1:29 p.m. – RPD Officers assisted Ridgeland Firefighters in responding to a residential fire at an unoccupied home on Wise Street.

  • 7:49 p.m. – Officers responded to a report of a disabled red Dodge Dakota pickup at the railroad crossing by the Ridgeland Farmer’s Market at 9935 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.  CSX was contacted and all train movement was stopped for approximately thirty minutes until the vehicle was cleared from the tracks.

  • 10:09 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Short Stop BP Station at 10728 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 11:08 p.m. – A suspicious black female was reported in the parking lot area of the Forest Motel at 10504 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 11:44 p.m. – A silver Toyota Camry was stopped for several moving violations in the parking lot of the Citgo Station at 107 Sycamore Drive where driver Joetta Leigh Campbell, 49 of Havana FL, was found to be operating while under the influence of alcohol.  She was ultimately placed under arrest by assisting South Carolina Highway Patrol Officers and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center under charges of DUI and open container as Scott’s Automotive took possession of the vehicle.

JANUARY 17, 2018

  • 3:21 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Boys & Girls Club at 456 Grays Highway.

  • 3:35 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Short Stop BP Station at 10728 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.  A second activation occurred at 10:53 p.m.

  • 5:23 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the New Hong Kong Restaurant at 8084 East Main Street.  A second activation occurred at 10:57 p.m.

  • 11:17 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted on an intoxicated black male after having suffered a fall at the intersection of West Main Street and South Railroad Avenue.  He was ultimately transported by EMS to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for treatment.

  • 6:35 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Family Dentistry Office at 10832 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 10:13 p.m. – A trespassing complaint was filed at the Gulf Station at 8250 East Main Street after a white male refused to leave the business property when ordered by Management.

  • 10:58 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on Brandon Cove in the North Ridge Community.

JANUARY 16, 2018

  • 3:41 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Short Stop BP Station at 10728 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 2:07 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Boys & Girls Club at 456 Grays Highway.

  • 2:30 p.m. – A white Nissan Altima was stopped for speeding on I-95 South around the 18 mile marker where driver Joshua LaChristopher-Mart Walk was found to be operating under a suspended South Carolina driver’s license stemming from failure to pay traffic fine violations with one previous conviction for driving under suspension appearing on his record.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as the vehicle was released to a licensed passenger.

  • 3:14 p.m. – A Honda Fit and a Toyota Tundra pickup were involved in a collision in the parking lot area of the Dollar General Store at 8123 East Main Street.  No injuries were reported.

  • 6:09 p.m. – A noise complaint was filed at Heron Crossing Apartments at 72 Heron Crossing Drive in reference to loud music in the parking lot area.

  • 8:04 p.m. – A black female was reportedly shouting obscenities and causing a disturbance at the Forest Motel at 10504 South Jacob Smart Boulevard; however, left the business property prior to Law Enforcement arrival.  Officers were dispatched to the location a second time at 9:00 p.m. where Elouise Anderson was found to be grossly intoxicated and warned to stay inside of her room for the remainder of the night.  A third call was received at 9:42 p.m. at which point Anderson fled on foot from the responding Officers initiating a short  pursuit ending in a wooded area bordering Wise Street behind the business property where she was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

  • 10:24 p.m. – A suspicious vehicle was reported at D&R Auto Sales at 7622 West Main Street.

JANUARY 15, 2018

  • 1:35 a.m. – A suspicious Ford was reported at the intersection of Nuna Rock Road and North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 3:12 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 in reference to a tractor trailer traveling North between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.

  • 9:27 a.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies in responding to Logan Lane Apartments at 544 South Logan Street where three female suspects were located following an alleged assault on another female at a residence on Fulton Lane.

  • 11:11 a.m. – A welfare check of a white male was conducted at The Siesta Motel at 10530 South Jacob Smart Boulevard after an out of state relative was unable to get into contact with him for an extended period of time.  The male in question was identified by Officers as one of seven subjects found sleeping inside of a room at The Siesta during execution of a search warrant on January 12th.

  • 11:38 a.m. – A verbal dispute between two female employees and a male was reported at the Dollar General Store at 8123 East Main Street.

  • 1:30 p.m. – A suspicious male was reported at the Family Dollar Store at 73 South Green Street.

  • 6:18 p.m. – A Toyota Camry and a Nissan Altima were involved in a collision in front of the Pratt Memorial Library at 451 East Wilson Street.  No injuries were reported.

  • 11:21 p.m. – A property damage report was filed at the Ridgeland Weekly Rentals at 67 West Woodlawn Street after an unknown person allegedly attempted to kick in the complainant’s door.

JANUARY 14, 2018

  • 12:12 a.m. – A suspicious male was reported outside of a residence at the intersection of Smith and North Green Street.

  • 12:58 a.m. – A noise complaint was filed on Second Avenue in reference to loud music at a neighboring residence.

  • 6:11 a.m. – A suspicious male was reportedly standing on the railroad tracks on Smiths Crossing by the Sisters Ferry Road intersection.  Responding Officers found no persons in the area; however an unoccupied orange Suzuki Swift was discovered in a nearby roadside drainage ditch in front of the Ridgeland Farmer’s Market at 9935 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 8:09 a.m. – A complaint was received regarding an injured duck having been struck by an arrow at the Blue Heron Nature Trail. 

  • 11:15 a.m. – A verbal domestic dispute between a Mother and her 20 year old son was reported at Woodridge Apartments at 414 South Logan Street.

  • 12:01 p.m. – An animal complaint was filed on Carters Mill Road in reference to a large group of stray dogs wandering the area.

  • 2:41 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 14 mile marker in reference to a black 4 door sedan.

  • 2:50 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Hargray Storage Facility at 308 North Railroad Avenue.

  • 5:09 p.m. – Three black males were reportedly shouting and cursing at customers and passers by outside of the Harvey’s Grocery Store at 8205 East Main Street.

  • 9:07 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Short Stop BP Station at 10728 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

JANUARY 13, 2018

  • 12:25 a.m. – A verbal domestic dispute between a male and a female was reported at a residence on North Logan Street.

  • 2:45 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted on a subject found sleeping inside of a black Kia Rio on I-95 South around the 20 mile marker.

  • 5:34 a.m. – RPD Officers assisted Ridgeland Firefighters in responding to Heron Crossing Apartments at 209 Heron Crossing Drive after a complainant reportedly smelled smoke coming from an unknown source.

  • 10:03 a.m. – A complaint was filed regarding a suspicious white male by a wooded area on Weathersbee Street.  Responding Officers located Jon Lamar Brantley, 56 of Ridgeland, on a piece of privately owned property where he was placed on trespass notice at the owner’s request.

  • 3:30 p.m. – A counterfeit bill was turned over to Law Enforcement after being received as payment from a black male during a January 6th transaction at the Gulf Station at 8250 East Main Street.

  • 3:38 p.m. – A gray Lexus ES350 was stopped for speeding on I-95 North around the 24 mile marker where driver Joshua Michael Greer was found to be operating under a suspended Georgia driver’s license.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as the vehicle was released to a licensed passenger.

  • 4:13 p.m. – A welfare check of a white male was conducted at The Siesta Motel at 10530 South Jacob Smart Boulevard after an out of state relative was unable to get into contact with him for an extended period of time.  The male in question was identified by Officers as one of seven subjects found sleeping inside of a room at The Siesta during execution of a search warrant on January 12th.

  • 4:23 p.m. – A suspicious white male was reportedly attempting to sell various items at a West Main Street business.  He left the area walking South prior to Law Enforcement arrival.

  • 6:03 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 14 mile marker in reference to a white Chevy Silverado pickup.

  • 6:40 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at a residence on Shadetree Street after a 911 hang up call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.

  • 8:53 p.m. – A Chevy pickup was reportedly traveling South on I-95 around the 33 mile marker with no operational tail lights. 

  • 10:01 p.m. – Three black males armed with handguns reportedly attempted to rob a group of Hispanic males outside of a home on First Avenue.  The suspects fled the area prior to Law Enforcement arrival but were soon after spotted on Promise Way where they again fled on foot running through a wooded area towards Baytree Apartments leaving behind two bicycles which they had reportedly not had in their possession during the initial incident.  The bicycles were ultimately collected by responding Officers and secured at the Ridgeland Police Department pending return to the rightful owners.

  • 10:10 p.m. – A 68 year old female was transported by EMS from Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville after reportedly having difficulty breathing.

JANUARY 12, 2018

  • 6:41 a.m. – A blue Jeep Cherokee and a white Toyota Tundra were involved in a collision on Highway 462 near the Rice Shire Road intersection.  No injuries were reported.

  • 7:47 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted on Oakridge North in the Oakridge Trailer Park Community after an open line 911 call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.

  • 8:36 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on South Green Street where an open door was discovered.  No persons were found inside and there was no evidence of forced entry or other criminal activity.

  • 9:30 a.m. – RPD Officers assisted Jasper County DSS Agents conducting a welfare check and drug screening at the Siesta Motel at 10530 South Jacob Smart Boulevard where a quantity of marijuana was discovered in plain view by responding Officers inspecting the unit with seven people found sleeping inside.  A search warrant was then issued and immediately executed resulting in the arrest of Ronald Jacob Lafler who was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center after being found in possession of additional amounts of marijuana and drug paraphernalia as well as a tablet which tested positive for amphetamine.  Officers then placed a 16 year old male juvenile into protective custody who was transported to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for evaluation after making statements that he may wish to do harm to himself.  Ridgeland Officers then escorted DSS Agents to a residence in the Hardeeville area where a 15 year old female juvenile sibling was also placed into protective custody.  Officers returned to Coastal Carolina Medical Center at 2:27 p.m. where the male was transported to Palmetto Behavioral Health in North Charleston.

  • 2:57 p.m. – An adult male tenant at The Palms Motel at 10735 South Jacob Smart Boulevard was transported by EMS to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for treatment after intentionally ingesting a large quantity of prescription medication.

  • 4:18 p.m. – A black Honda Civic was involved in a single vehicle collision on I-95 North around the 21 mile marker after the driver lost control and left the roadway striking a roadside drainage ditch.  No injuries were reported.

  • 6:28 p.m. – Officers responded to a complaint of an ongoing issue with a black male subject asking customers and passers by for money in the parking lot of the EZ Stop IV Station at 80 Blue Heron Drive.  Anthony Bernard Gibson, 45 of Ridgeland, was soon after located and placed on trespass notice for the business property at Management’s request.

  • 8:09 p.m. – A verbal dispute between a black male subject and staff members was reported at the Quality Inn Motel at 221 James Taylor Drive where Aswad Bomon Hudson, 42 of Atlanta GA, was ultimately ordered to leave the business property at Management’s request.

  • 11:15 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 in reference to a red tractor trailer traveling North between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.

JANUARY 11, 2018

  • 12:31 a.m. – A noise complaint was filed on Shadetree Street in the Carters MIll Estates Community in reference to loud music at a neighboring home.

  • 4:46 a.m. – A Fedex truck was involved in a single vehicle collision on I-95 South around the 21 mile marker after striking a deer in the roadway.  No injuries were reported.

  • 7:59 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on South Jacob Smart Boulevard at the Mango Drive intersection in reference to a white box truck.

  • 9:00 a.m. – A black Nissan Altima was stopped for speeding on I-95 North around the 22 mile marker where driver Ivan Diaz-Tejera was found to be operating without a driver’s license.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Elite Towing took possession of the vehicle.

  • 9:18 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on Third Avenue.

  • 11:04 a.m. – A complaint was filed regarding children being left alone inside of a vehicle in the parking lot of the Shell Station at 8309 East Main Street.

  • 2:53 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 30 mile marker in reference to a black Dodge pickup.

  • 6:12 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Lovely Hills Baptist Church at 596 South Logan Street.

JANUARY 10, 2018

  • 9:45 a.m. – A suspicious blue Toyota was reported in the parking lot area of the Quality Inn Motel at 221 James Taylor Drive.

  • 11:04 a.m. – A report of illegal drug activity was filed in reference to the occupants of a gray Ford Taurus in the parking lot area of the Family Dollar Store at 73 South Green Street.

  • 4:17 p.m. – A suspicious white female was reported at the Ridgeland Weekly Rentals at 67 West Woodlawn Street.

  • 5:43 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 21 mile marker in reference to a black Nissan Armada.

  • 6:42 p.m. – A verbal dispute between two males was reported outside of the Pizza Hut Carryout at 10846 North Jacob Smart Boulevard ending with one threatening the life of the other before leaving the area prior to Law Enforcement arrival.

  • 9:22 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 18 mile marker in reference to a white tractor trailer.

JANUARY 9, 2018

  • 1:01 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 24 mile marker in reference to a burgundy Ford F350 pickup.

  • 8:41 a.m. – A green Subaru wagon was stopped for speeding on I-95 South around the 21 mile marker where driver Tony C. Geris was found to be operating under a suspended New Jersey driver’s license.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as the vehicle was released to a licensed passenger.

  • 1:31 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted on a male tenant at Devonwood Apartments at 137 Captain Bill Road after an out of state family member was unable to make contact with him for an extended period of time.

  • 1:49 p.m. – A black male was reportedly asking customers and passers by for money in the parking lot area of the Harvey’s Grocery Store at 8205 East Main Street.  A second complaint regarding the same male was received at 2:01 p.m. from the EZ Stop IV Station at 80 Blue Heron Drive.

  • 2:49 p.m. – A suspicious male in a silver sedan was reported in front of the Ridgeland School at 250 Jaguar Trail.

  • 6:56 p.m. – A complaint was filed of an unknown subject reportedly operating a moped on I-95 South around the 30 mile marker.

  • 11:33 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies in responding the Wellington Drive area following reports of several gunshots being fired in the area.

JANUARY 8, 2018

  • 9:45 a.m. – A suspicious fire was reported on the side of an attached garage at a residence on Brandon Cove in the North Ridge Community.  No injuries were reported.

  • 10:44 a.m. – A 41 year old female Huger SC resident was transported by RPD Officers from the Forest Motel at 10504 South Jacob Smart Boulevard to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for evaluation after reportedly making statements that she may wish to do harm to herself.  She was later transported from Coastal Carolina at 8:34 p.m. to the Palmetto Lowcountry Behavioral Health Center in North Charleston.

  • 11:10 a.m. – Two forged checks written against a Bank of America account registered to a North Logan Street resident were presented at the El Cheapo Station at 11033 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 12:58 p.m. – An animal complaint was filed on Oakridge South in the Oakridge Trailer Park Community regarding several stay dogs and cats roaming the property.

  • 3:47 p.m. – A white Chevy Silverado and a white Nissan Altima were involved in a collision in the parking lot area of the Ridgeland High School at 250 Jaguar Trail.  No injuries were reported.

  • 4:25 p.m. – A civil dispute between a property owner and a recently evicted tenant was reported at a residence on Promise Way.

  • 4:34 p.m. – A black male and a white female were reportedly smoking marijuana outside of Ridge Point Apartments at 669 North Green Street.

  • 6:07 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Lovely Hills Baptist Church at 596 South Logan Street.

  • 6:31 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on South Logan Street.

  • 11:22 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at Ridgeland Weekly Rentals at 67 West Woodlawn Street after an open door was discovered on a vacant unit.  No persons were found inside and there was no evidence of forced entry.

JANUARY 7, 2018

  • 2:05 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on Frontage Road near the Ridgeland Correctional Institution in reference to a blue pickup.

  • 8:18 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Star Point BP Station at 11122 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 11:09 a.m. – A report of illegal drug use in a rented room was filed at the Quality Inn Motel at 221 James Taylor Drive.

  • 11:35 a.m. – An animal complaint was filed at the Kingdom Touch Ministries Church at 6714 Tillman Road regarding two stray dogs roaming the property.

  • 4:06 p.m. – Darick Cornelius McPherson Jr. was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center in reference to an outstanding warrant issued by the Ridgeland Police Department after being spotted by Patrol Officers near the Devonwood Apartment Complex at 137 Captain Bill Road.  McPherson’s charges stemmed from a January 2nd incident at his residence on Shadetree Street in the Carters Mill Estates Community where he stole a family member’s 2005 Dodge Neon as well as an undisclosed amount of cash from another.

  • 7:33 p.m. – A theft was reported at the Bobops Convenience Store at 8548 Grahamville Road after a white male subject was captured on surveillance video stealing a case of beer.  He was last seen traveling North on I-95 in a small white passenger car.  The footage is being reviewed for suspect identification and pending charges.

  • 11:08 p.m. – A noise complaint was filed at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue in reference to numerous subjects at a neighboring residence.

JANUARY 6, 2018

  • 6:00 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted at the Ridgeland Auto Care Center at 11263 North Jacob Smart Boulevard after an open gate was discovered.

  • 9:20 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Kingdom Touch Ministries Church at 6714 Tillman Road.

  • 9:23 a.m. – A property damage complaint was filed at the Quality Inn Motel at 221 James Taylor Drive after an overnight guest attempted to steer a tractor trailer underneath an awning without sufficient clearance.

  • 11:12 a.m. – The cover was removed from an electrical meter box outside of the D&R Auto sales office sometime during the overnight hours.

  • 11:31 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted at the Quality Inn Motel at 221 James Taylor Drive after a female employee reportedly suffered a fall in the parking lot area.  Responding Officers discovered Teresa Sue Guthrie, 50 of Ridgeland, to be grossly intoxicated passed out behind the wheel of her vehicle.  She was ultimately transported to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for treatment where she was issued a citation and assigned a court date under the charge of public drunkenness.

  • 2:40 p.m. – An animal complaint was filed at the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard regarding a stray chihuahua roaming the business property.

  • 3:12 p.m. – A civil complaint was filed at Baytree Apartments in reference to a recently evicted tenant still being on the property.

  • 5:01 p.m. – A suspicious gray Honda Accord was reported in the parking lot area of the Quality Inn Motel at 221 James Taylor Drive.

  • 8:21 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at the Wendy’s Restaurant at 8480 Grahamville Road after a large amount of smoke was reported.  Firefighters ultimately discovered a faulty heating unit resulting in the business being closed for the remainder of the night.

  • 8:58 p.m. – A suspicious white male was reported on North Green Street.

  • 9:24 p.m. – A beige pickup was reported missing from a residence on East Adams Street but was shortly after located in the parking lot of nearby Lovely Hills Baptist Church at 596 South Logan Street.

JANUARY 5, 2018

  • 12:04 a.m. – An open door was discovered at the El Ranchito Restaurant at 11382 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 4:17 a.m. – A ruptured water main was reported at the intersection of Oak Plantation Drive and Woods Court.

  • 8:37 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Medical Center at 1520 Grays Highway.  A second activation occurred at 10:08 p.m.

  • 9:40 a.m. – A larceny was reported at The Siesta Motel at 10530 South Jacob Smart Boulevard after the male complainant awoke to find an undisclosed amount of cash missing as well as his overnight guest.  A warrant has been issued against Melissa Marie Deloach, 28 of Ridgeland, charging her with the theft.

  • 12:10 p.m. – A white Mini Cooper was stopped for speeding on I-95 North around the 18 mile marker where driver Robert Eric Nelson, 44 of Cutter Bay FL, was found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana.  He was cited for the offenses and assigned a court date prior to leaving the area.

  • 1:01 p.m. – A reckless driver complaint was filed in reference to two vehicles reportedly racing on I-95 while traveling North between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.

  • 2:03 p.m. – A suspicious male was reported outside of a residence on Brandon Cove in the North Ridge Community.

  • 2:32 p.m. – A Peterbilt flatbed tractor trailer hauling lumber was involved in a single vehicle collision on I-95 North around the 21 mile marker after the driver lost control and struck the center median guard wires.  No injuries were reported.

  • 3:02 p.m. – A gray Nissan Pathfinder, a black Toyota 4Runner and a Honda Accord were involved in a collision on I-95 South around the 21 mile marker.  No injuries were reported.

  • 4:33 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported at the intersection of Jacob Smart Boulevard and Highway 336 in reference to a tan pickup towing a trailer.

  • 4:49 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Simply Carolina Kitchen & Bath Showroom at 10616 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 5:45 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South at the 33 mile marker in reference to a tan tractor trailer.

  • 9:57 p.m. – A suspicious vehicle was reported at the Ridgeland High School football field at 456 Grays Highway.

JANUARY 4, 2018

  • 9:46 a.m. – Two males were reportedly engaged in a fight in the I-95 Northbound truck parking area at the 17 mile marker.

  • 1:34 p.m. – A civil dispute between a customer and Management regarding a refund policy was reported at the ATV Warehouse at 8167 East Main Street.

  • 6:58 p.m. – A civil dispute regarding an eviction process was reported at a residence on Promise Way.  Officers responded a second time at 9:36 p.m. after an alleged assault between the two males.

  • 11:49 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at a residence on Oakridge North in the Oakridge Trailer Park Community after a 911 hang up call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.

JANUARY 3, 2018

  • 5:47 a.m. – A suspicious gray vehicle was reported in the parking lot of Devonwood Apartments at 137 Captain Bill Road.

  • 9:33 a.m. – A black Cadillac CTS and a white Dodge Ram pickup were involved in a collision on I-95 South around the 21 mile marker.  No injuries were reported.

  • 9:40 a.m. – A Chrysler 300 was involved in a single vehicle collision after the driver lost control and struck a guardrail on the exit 18 I-95 overpass.  No injuries were reported.
  • 10:45 a.m. – A gray Chevy Silverado pickup and a black Nissan Altima were involved in a collision in the parking lot area of the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.  No injuries were reported.

  • 11:14 a.m. – A black Toyota Camry was found abandoned after having become stuck in the snow on Highway 462 around the Old House Road intersection.

  • 11:22 a.m. – A GMC Denali and a Chevy Malibu were involved in a collision at the intersection of North Jacob Smart Boulevard and Highway 278.  No injuries were reported.

  • 12:41 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted on the driver of a black Nissan after it became stuck in a snowdrift outside of the PIzza Bella Restaurant at 8196 East Main Street.

  • 12:59 p.m. – A gray Honda Pilot was involved in a single vehicle collision after striking a roadside drainage ditch at the intersection of Bees Creek and Busy Bee Road.  No injuries were reported.
  • 1:41 p.m. – A complaint was filed on Sailfish Circle in the Carters Mill Estates Community regarding two dogs being left outside without shelter at a neighboring residence.

  • 1:58 p.m. – A silver Chevy Impala was involved in a single vehicle collision after striking a sign posted outside of the North Ridge Community at the intersection of Smiths Crossing and Mitchellville Road.  No injuries were reported.

  • 2:15 p.m. – A verbal domestic dispute was reported at a residence on Third Avenue.

  • 2:23 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted on a red Mazda MX5 stuck in a snowdrift on the side of the roadway on I-95 North around the 21 mile marker.

  • 2:24 p.m. – A white Ford Ranger pickup was struck by a green Ford Expedition which then fled the area without reporting the collision in the parking lot of the Bobops Convenience Store at 8548 Grahamville Road.  No injuries were reported.

  • 4:12 p.m. – A brown and white horse was reportedly wandering the area at the intersection of Captain Bill and Industrial Park Road.

  • 7:45 p.m. – A white Ford F150 pickup was involved in a single vehicle collision after the driver lost control and left the roadway at the intersection of South Jacob Smart Boulevard and Mango Drive.  Responding Officers discovered driver Larry Ray Belcher Jr. and passenger Jermain George Heyward Jr. to both be under the influence of alcohol.  They were placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as A-1 Towing took possession of the vehicle.

  • 9:34 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported at the intersection of Second Avenue and Russell Street in reference to a black Ford Taurus.

JANUARY 2, 2018

  • 3:34 a.m. – A white Ford F250 pickup was turned over to JB’s Towing for removal after being found abandoned in a wooded area at the intersection of Sisters Ferry Road and Wood Duck Street.
  • 4:59 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 33 mile marker in reference to a brown Ford F150 pickup.

  • 6:07 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 24 mile marker in reference to a white pickup.

  • 9:15 a.m. – A child custody dispute between an estranged couple was reported at The Plantation Inn Motel at 11433 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 9:33 a.m. – A larceny was reported at a residence on Shadetree Street in the Carters Mill Estates Community after the victim’s gray 2005 Dodge Neon was stolen by a family member as well as an undisclosed amount of cash.  A warrant affidavit has been filed against Darick Cornelius McPherson Jr., 18 of Ridgeland, charging him with the theft.

  • 9:49 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 28 mile marker in reference to a white box truck.

  • 11:45 a.m. – A suspicious male was reported at Woodridge Apartments at 414 South Logan Street.

  • 2:03 p.m. – A harassment complaint was filed at a residence on East Wilson Street.

  • 2:37 p.m. – An assault complaint was filed after a male subject driving a black Dodge Charger reportedly pointed a handgun at another male outside of the KFC Restaurant at 8146 East Main Street.

  • 4:22 p.m. – A large amount of smoke was reportedly generating from underneath a brown tractor trailer traveling South on I-95 around the 28 mile marker.

  • 5:04 p.m. – A civil dispute between an estranged couple was reported at a residence on North Green Street.

  • 6:26 p.m. – A suspicious person was reported at a vacant residence on North Green Street.

  • 7:08 p.m. – A domestic dispute between a male and a female was reported at a residence on Oakridge South in the Oakridge Trailer Park Community.

  • 11:00 p.m. – A silver GMC Sierra pickup was turned over to J&M Towing for removal from the area of Baytree Apartments at 1007 First Avenue after being discovered abandoned.

JANUARY 1, 2018

  • 4:59 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Sunoco Station at 11965 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 10:09 a.m. – An animal complaint was filed by a pedestrian on East Adams Street in reference to a reportedly aggressive Pit Bull chained in front of a residence.

  • 1:49 p.m. – A silver Nissan Rogue,  a blue Honda CRV and a gray Toyota Corolla were involved in a collision on I-95 South around the 19 mile marker.  A pregnant female passenger from the Toyota was transported by EMS to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for treatment.

     

  • 2:08 p.m. – A truck bedliner was reportedly lying on the roadway on I-95 South around the 17 mile marker.

  • 2:14 p.m. – A Mazda 3 and a Ford Escape were involved in a collision on I-95 South around the 22 mile marker.  No injuries were reported.

  • 6:16 p.m. – A black Mercedes sedan was struck by a silver Mercedes C300 which then left the area without reporting the collision on I-95 North around the 21 mile marker.  No injuries were reported.

  • 10:49 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 in reference to a gray Toyota Tundra pickup traveling North between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.
