DECEMBER 31, 2017

  • 12:36 a.m. – A suspicious pickup was reported at the Ridgeland High School football field at 456 Grays Highway.

  • 12:28 p.m. – An injured deer was reportedly standing beside the roadway on I-95 North around the 25 mile marker.

  • 6:17 p.m. – An animal complaint was filed by a pedestrian on East Adams Street in reference to a reportedly aggressive Pit Bull chained in front of a residence.

  • 6:32 p.m. – A civil complaint between an estranged couple was reported at a residence on North Green Street.

  • 7:29 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted on a vacant residence on Wiley Street after an open door was discovered.

  • 7:58 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on South Logan Street.

  • 8:37 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 33 mile marker in reference to a white flatbed tractor trailer.

  • 10:23 p.m. – A noise complaint was filed on Shadetree Street in the Carters Mill Estates Community in reference to loud music from a neighboring residence.

DECEMBER 30, 2017

  • 12:21 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted on an intoxicated 32 year old male tenant at The Palms Motel at 10735 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.  He was ultimately transported by EMS to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for analysis and treatment.

  • 12:23 a.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputies in responding to the Waffle House Restaurant at 8185 East Main Street where a female suspect was allegedly spotted following a reported cell phone theft at Club Pluto at 8812 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 1:50 a.m. – A suspicious pickup was reported in the parking lot area of the former Jasper’s Porch Restaurant at 153 James Taylor Drive.

  • 5:48 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Short Stop BP Station at 10728 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 11:30 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm the South State Bank ATM at 10671 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 12:30 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 in reference to a white Lexus traveling North between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.

  • 1:45 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 20 mile marker in reference to a red Pontiac Aztec.

  • 3:34 p.m. – Two tractor trailers were reportedly impeding traffic flow on I-95 South around the 28 mile marker.

  • 6:26 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 33 mile marker in reference to a tan Toyota Camry.

  • 6:33 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted South Carolina Highway Patrol in responding to a single vehicle collision involving a pickup striking a tree resulting in the male driver being ejected at the intersection of Nuna Rock and Taylor Mill Road.  The subject was ultimately airlifted to Savannah Memorial Hospital for treatment.

  • 8:59 p.m. – Two males were reportedly engaged in a fight at a residence on Sailfish Circle in the Carters Mill Estates Community.

  • 9:17 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 28 mile marker in reference to a white Kia Sportage.

  • 9:42 p.m. – A white male pedestrian was reported on I-95 South around the 22 mile marker.

  • 10:06 p.m. – David Malphrus was placed under arrest outside of his residence on East Adams Street and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center in reference to three outstanding warrants issued by the Ridgeland Police Department.  Malphrus’ charges stemmed from a December 28th report filed at the Jasper Animal Rescue Mission at 1352 Carters Mill Road where he was captured on surveillance video forcing entry through a gate and stealing a dog.  

DECEMBER 29, 2017

  • 6:53 a.m. – Two suspicious black males were reported behind the Burger King Restaurant at 8257 East Main Street.

  • 11:25 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted in the area of West Main Street and Great Swamp Road after a 911 hang up call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.

  • 11:30 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted at the Gulf Station at 8250 East Main Street after a 911 hang up call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.

  • 1:45 p.m. – A civil dispute between a male complainant and the Clerk of Court was reported at the Jasper County Magistrate’s Office at 967 West Adam Street.

  • 3:24 p.m. – A Toyota Camry and a Toyota Highlander were involved in a collision in the parking lot area of the Shell Station at 8309 East Main Street.  No injuries were reported.

  • 3:25 p.m. – A civil dispute between an estranged couple was reported at a residence on North Green Street.

  • 4:44 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 21 mile marker in reference to a white Volvo tractor trailer.

  • 6:50 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 18 mile marker in reference to a red convertible passenger car.

  • 7:36 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Medical Center at 1520 Grays Highway.

  • 8:34 p.m. – A suspicious vehicle was reported in the parking lot area of the former Jasper’s Porch Restaurant at 153 James Taylor Drive.

  • 9:59 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 21 mile marker in reference to a gray Toyota Rav4.

DECEMBER 28, 2017

  • 10:05 a.m. – A complaint was filed on First Avenue regarding unwanted telephone calls.

  • 11:25 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 in reference to a white Nissan Altima traveling North between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.

  • 11:46 a.m. – A Dodge Charger and a GMC Acadia were involved in a collision at the intersection of Grahamville and Bees Creek Road.  No injuries were reported.

  • 12:00 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 33 mile marker in reference to a purple Kia Optima.

  • 2:57 p.m. – A disturbance was reported at Turpin Park at 901 North Logan Street regarding three juvenile males using profanity.

  • 3:03 p.m. – A theft was reported at the Jasper Animal Rescue Mission at 1352 Carters Mill Road after a white male was captured on surveillance video forcing entry through a gate and stealing a dog.  The animal was soon after located outside of a residence on East Adams Street and returned to JARM.

  • 3:16 p.m. – A Volvo V60 and a Chevy Impala were involved in a collision on I-95 North around the exit 18 interchange.  No injuries were reported.

  • 3:20 p.m. – A harassment complaint was filed at Dot’s Red Dot Package Store after a male relative of the complainant came to the business and continued a dispute which initially began on Saturday December 23rd at a residence on Rice Shire Road.

  • 3:37 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 15 mile marker in reference to a blue Honda Odyssey. 

  • 5:09 p.m. – A Luxus NX200 and a Dodge Durango were involved in a collision on I-95 North around the exit 22 interchange.  No injuries were reported.

  • 8:13 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Medical Center at 1520 Grays Highway.

  • 9:11 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the South State Bank at 10671 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 10:51 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Pizza Bella Restaurant at 8196 East Main Street.

DECEMBER 27, 2017

  • 1:20 p.m. – A Nissan Maxima and a Peterbilt tractor trailer were involved in a collision on I-95 North around the 21 mile marker.  No injuries were reported.

  • 3:58 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on Old House Road at the Wellington intersection in reference to a white GMC pickup.

  • 4:37 p.m. – A complaint of illegal drug activity was filed at Heron Crossing Apartments at 72 Heron Crossing Drive.

  • 6:25 p.m. – A domestic dispute between a male and a female was reported at the intersection of Tillman and Great Swamp Road culminating in the male allegedly striking the female.

  • 7:25 p.m. – A verbal domestic dispute between a male and a female pedestrian was reported on Captain Bill Road.

  • 7:49 p.m. – Two passenger cars were reportedly impeding traffic flow on I-95 North around the 17 mile marker.

  • 8:43 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Medical Center at 1520 Grays Highway.

  • 10:46 p.m. – A harassment complaint was filed at The Palms Motel at 10735 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

DECEMBER 26, 2017

  • 12:07 a.m. – A suspicious male was reported outside of a residence on East Wilson Street.

  • 6:31 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on Sisters Ferry Road.

  • 10:50 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 17 mile marker in reference to a white mini van.

  • 2:23 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 in reference to a white Ford SUV traveling North between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.

  • 3:58 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North in reference to a white van.

  • 4:51 p.m. – A complaint was filed regarding garbage and various other items being left outside of a residence on Wiley Street.

  • 7:03 p.m. – A traffic hazard was reported after a large amount of nails were discovered lying on the roadway at the intersection of Highway 462 and Rice Shire Road.  Both lanes of travel were shut down for approximately one hour as SCDOT worked to clear the area.

  • 7:41 p.m. – RPD Officers assisted South Carolina Highway Patrol in responding to a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 17 and Smiths Crossing.  One adult female and one child were transported by EMS to Beaufort Memorial Hospital for treatment.

  • 8:20 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on Old House Road by the Live Oak Farm Road intersection in reference to a Toyota Highlander.

  • 8:38 p.m. – A red Chevy Silverado pickup and a black Subaru Forester were involved in a collision on I-95 South around the 18 mile marker.  No injuries were reported.

  • 9:31 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 22 mile marker in reference to a silver tractor trailer.

  • 10:02 p.m. – A shoplifting was reported at the Dollar General Store at 8123 East Main Street after a white female was witnessed stealing store items before dropping them as she fled the area running North on Wilson Street when confronted by Management.

  • 10:55 p.m. – RPD Officers assisted Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputies in responding to a reported theft of a purse on Fordville Road.

  • 11:43 p.m. – A theft was reported at a residence on South Green Street after a white female acquaintance of the tenant stole a jacket after being allowed inside to use the restroom.  She left the area on foot walking South accompanied by a white male.

DECEMBER 25, 2017

  • 2:03 a.m. – A gray Honda Passport reported stolen from a male victim at The Siesta Motel on December 24th was stopped on West Main Street by the Railroad Avenue intersection after being spotted by Patrol Officers on South Green Street.  Driver Michael Thomas Byrd was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center in reference to an outstanding warrant issued against him regarding the theft as the vehicle was returned to the registered owner.

  • 11:53 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 18 mile marker in reference to a green Kia Soul.

  • 12:48 p.m. – A burglary was reported at a vacant residence on East Adams Street after the property owner discovered several items missing from within.  The incident is believed to have occurred sometime after December 21st.  Evidence collected at the scene has been submitted to the SLED Forensics Laboratory for analysis.

  • 2:05 p.m. – A theft was reported at J&M Towing at 159 South Green Street after the business owner discovered several items missing from inside of a vehicle.  The incident is believed to have occurred sometime between December 9th and 16th.

  • 5:28 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated Land Rover vehicle panic alarm on West Frontage Road.

  • 7:15 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 28 mile marker in reference to an unknown black vehicle.

  • 8:05 p.m. – A Chevy Camaro was involved in a single vehicle collision in the area of Taylor Mill Road and Kings Colony after striking a deer in the roadway.  No injuries were reported.

  • 9:09 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at a residence on West Main Street after an open line 911 call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.

  • 10:48 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on West Adams Street.

DECEMBER 24, 2017

  • 12:52 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Sunoco Station at 11965 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 5:11 a.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies in responding to a shooting incident on I-95 South around the 15 mile marker after numerous gunshots were fired from a passing vehicle into a 2014 Toyota Corolla with 4 occupants which had just left Club Pluto at 8812 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.  The 19 year old black male driver from Port Royal SC and a 22 year old black female passenger from Savannah GA were both transported by EMS to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for treatment.  A third victim, identified as a 16 year old black male from Hardeeville SC, was ultimately transported by Sheriff’s Deputies after stating that he had possibly been grazed by a bullet during the incident.

  • 1:59 p.m. – A gray 2000 Honda Passport was reported stolen from a tenant at The Siesta Motel at 10530 South Jacob Smart Boulevard after a male acquaintance drove it away from the property without permission on December 23rd at approximately 9 p.m.  A warrant affidavit has been filed against Michael Thomas Byrd, 29 of Ridgeland, charging him with the theft.

  • 3:47 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the South State Bank at 10671 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 6:45 p.m. – A suspicious person was reported at a recently burglarized business on Sisters Ferry Road.

  • 7:07 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 17 mile marker in reference to a Pontiac SUV.

  • 9:29 p.m. – A black female was reportedly causing a disturbance at the Gulf Station at 8250 East Main Street.

  • 10:39 p.m. – A complaint was filed by the driver of a Chevy S10 pickup on Old Logan Street after his male passenger refused to get out of the vehicle.

  • 11:15 p.m. – A report of fireworks being ignited was filed on East Wilson Street.

DECEMBER 23, 2017

  • 3:57 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Short Stop BP Station at 10728 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 5:00 a.m. – A male pedestrian was reportedly walking North on I-95 around the 25 mile marker.  

  • 5:20 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 14 mile marker in reference to a blue Hyundai.

  • 5:54 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 33 mile marker in reference to a white SUV.

  • 11:50 a.m. – A noise complaint was filed at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue regarding music coming from inside of a gray passenger car and a red Chevy Camaro.

  • 11:56 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted on a white female reportedly lying on the ground outside of a residence on North Green Street.

  • 11:57 a.m. – Officers responded to a report of a possible tractor trailer fire on I-95 North around the 21 mile marker.  There was no evidence of such an event found.

  • 12:52 p.m. – A Rolex watch was reported missing by a resident on McCormack Avenue.  The item was last seen at a nail salon in Bluffton SC on December 22nd.

  • 2:42 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Legacy Realty Office at 10616 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 4:05 p.m. – A suspicious female was reported at Heron Crossing Apartments at 72 Heron Crossing Drive.  A harassment complaint was filed shortly afer regarding an argument between the female and a male whom she believed to be the initial complainant.

DECEMBER 22, 2017

  • 12:48 a.m. – A civil dispute between a male tenant and a female tenant sharing a room was reported at the Forest Motel at 10504 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 3:34 a.m. – A silver Hyundai Sonata was involved in a single vehicle collision on Captain Bill Road near the Firefly Drive intersection after striking a deer in the roadway.  No injuries were reported.

  • 12:41 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 in reference to a green Toyota truck traveling North between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.  The vehicle was ultimately involved in a single vehicle collision just before the 16 mile marker after the driver lost control and left the roadway striking a group of trees.  South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to the scene to investigate.

  • 12:51 p.m. – A blue and white Huffy bicycle was reported stolen from outside of a residence on East Wilson Street with evidence of the same suspect/s attempting to force entry into an outdoor storage building.  Surveillance video is being reviewed for suspect identification and pending charges.

  • 1:37 p.m. – An animal complaint was filed in reference to a stray black dog wandering the area of the exit 18 interchange.

  • 3:37 p.m. – A civil dispute between a customer and Management was reported at the EZ Stop IV Station at 80 Blue Heron Drive.

  • 3:46 p.m. – A parking complaint was filed by a tenant at Devonwood Apartments at 137 Captain Bill Road regarding a burgundy passenger car.

  • 5:42 p.m. – A domestic dispute between an estranged couple was reported at a residence on North Green Street.

  • 5:48 p.m. – A white male juvenile tenant was reportedly causing a disturbance at The Plantation Inn Motel at 11433 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 9:40 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 18 mile marker in reference to a Chrysler 300 sedan.

  • 10:32 p.m. – A suspicious GMC Yukon was reported outside of a residence on Old House Road.

  • 11:31 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Family Dollar Store at 74 South Green Street.

DECEMBER 21, 2017

  • 12:28 a.m. – A suspicious black male pedestrian was reportedly standing on the side of the roadway on I-95 South around the 19 mile marker.

  • 12:52 a.m. – A suspicious male was reported in the parking lot area of the EZ Stop IV Station at 80 Blue Heron Drive.

  • 2:20 a.m. – A suspicious gray Infiniti FX35 was reported in the parking lot area at Turpin Park at 901 North Logan Street.

  • 6:00 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Pizza Bella Restaurant at 8196 East Main Street.

  • 11:17 a.m. – An animal complaint was filed at the Gulf Station at 8250 East Main Street in reference to stray cats roaming the business property.

  • 12:05 p.m. – A child custody dispute was reported at a residence on Second Avenue.

  • 12:49 p.m. – A property damage complaint was filed at a vacant residence on Beach Street.

  • 1:46 p.m. – A lost wallet report was filed by a customer at the Burger King Restaurant at 8257 East Main Street.

  • 3:27 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at a residence on Owens Street following reports of illegal drug activity involving children possibly occurring within the home.

  • 6:07 p.m. – A Nissan Sentra and a Toyota Camry were involved in a collision at the intersection of North Jacob Smart Boulevard and Wilson Street.  No injuries were reported.

  • 7:45 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on Old House Road at the Honey Hill intersection in reference to a small green station wagon.

  • 7:51 p.m. – A white iPhone 8 was reported stolen from inside of the Wendy’s Restaurant at 8480 Grahamville Road after being accidentally left by a customer who returned a short time later to find it missing.  Surveillance footage is being reviewed for suspect identification.

  • 8:07 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Medical Center at 1520 Grays Highway where an open door was discovered.  A search of the interior revealed no persons inside and no evidence of forced entry or criminal activity.

  • 10:37 p.m. – A group of suspicious persons were reported at Turpin Park at 901 North Logan Street.

  • 11:37 p.m. – A complaint was filed at a residence on Brandon Cove in the North Ridge Community after the homeowner discovered recent unauthorized transactions on his credit card tho it was still in his possession.  The activity was found to have occurred at a Lowes Home Improvement store at which point the complainant was directed to contact Law Enforcement in that jurisdiction.

DECEMBER 20, 2017

  • 4:17 a.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies in responding to a residence on Highway 462 after several gunshots were fired in the roadway.  No injuries were reported.

  • 6:14 a.m. – A burglary was reported at a Sisters Ferry Road business after the property owner discovered an open door with several items missing from within.

  • 6:30 a.m. – A child custody dispute was reported at a residence on Second Avenue.

  • 12:17 p.m. – A trespassing complaint was filed at Heron Crossing Apartments at 72 Heron Crossing Drive in reference to a male subject being on the business property despite being recently ordered to leave by the Property Manager.  

  • 12:29 p.m. – A complaint was filed at the Jasper County DSS Office at 10908 North Jacob Smart Boulevard after a female complainant’s signature was reportedly forged on State documents.

  • 2:14 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 34 mile marker in reference to a blue Porsche.

  • 2:52 p.m. – A traffic hazard was reported in reference to a loose bumper on a passenger car being towed on I-95 North around the 14 mile marker.

  • 6:50 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Medical Center at 1520 Grays Highway.

  • 11:15 p.m. – A suspicious person was reported in the parking lot area of the Ridgeland Tire & Auto Service Center at 11263 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

DECEMBER 19, 2017

  • 3:15 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted on a female subject reportedly having difficulty breathing at a residence on Sailfish Circle in the Carters Mill Estates Community.

  • 7:18 a.m. – A suspicious blue passenger car was reported in the parking lot area of the Sunoco Station at 11965 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 7:24 a.m. – A dark brown Chevy Impala and a white Nissan Altima were stolen from Liberty Auto Sales during the overnight hours after the sales office was burglarized.  Responding Officers began tracking the Impala through an installed GPS device showing it to be on West 35th Street in Savannah GA.  The vehicle was soon after spotted outside of a gas station by Savannah Chatham Metro Officers at which point two black males immediately exited and fled the area on foot running in opposing directions.  The passenger was shortly after captured and transported to a local precinct office where he was interviewed by Ridgeland Investigators.  Evidence collected at the Liberty Auto Sales scene has been submitted to the SLED Forensics Laboratory for fingerprint and DNA analysis.

  • 10:57 a.m. – A complaint was filed at the Quality Inn Motel at 221 James Taylor Drive after a blue Honda Fit, not registered to any guests, was reportedly left unoccupied in the parking lot area since Saturday December 16th.

  • 11:54 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Kingdom Touch Ministries Church at 6714 Tillman Road.

  • 2:40 p.m. – A red Jaguar Vanden was stopped for an improper temporary tag violation in the parking lot of the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard where driver Brian Christopher Mervin was found to be operating under a suspended South Carolina driver’s license stemming from failure to pay traffic ticket violations.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as J&M Towing took possession of the vehicle. 

  • 10:32 p.m. – A suspicious vehicle was reported in the parking lot area of the South State Bank at 10671 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 11:07 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 21 mile marker in reference to a silver Crossover SUV.

  • 11:46 p.m. – RPD assisted Hardeeville Officers in the pursuit of a white Mitsubishi Galant involved in a hit and run collision at the I-95 South Carolina Welcome Center.  The vehicle ultimately stopped without further incident around the 16 mile marker where driver Katherine Xiovan Aguilar-Murillio, 27 of Miami FL, was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center under HPD charges of leaving the scene of a collision, no driver’s license and driving under the influence.

DECEMBER 18, 2017

  • 3:29 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported in reference to a gray Volkswagen Passat traveling South on Nuna Rock Road.

  • 5:18 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on Third Avenue.

  • 6:45 a.m. – A burglary was reported at a Sisters Ferry Road business after the owner discovered an open door with several items missing from within.

  • 8:09 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 14 mile marker in reference to a tractor trailer allegedly traveling in excess of 100 mph.

  • 8:38 a.m. – An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen from inside of a purse left in an unlocked vehicle during the overnight hours outside of a residence on Mae Drive.

  • 9:09 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at Saul’s Funeral Home at 500 West Adams Street.

  • 3:14 p.m. – A large piece of tire debris was reportedly lying in the roadway on I-95 South around the 23 mile marker.

  • 3:40 p.m. – Edward Dwayne Garvin was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center in reference to two outstanding warrants issued against him by the Ridgeland Police Department after Officers spotted him inside of a burgundy passenger car in the parking lot of the Short Stop BP Station at 11122 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.  Garvin’s charges stemmed from a November 15th report filed at the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard where he was captured on surveillance video stealing a Bissell Power Glide vacuum cleaner kept just inside of the front entrance area of the the business on November 14th at 10:24 a.m.  A second warrant was issued after a December 4th theft at the Family Dollar Store at 73 South Green Street where he was again captured on surveillance video stealing several store items and then leaving the business property as a passenger in a white Nissan Altima. Garvin’s charges were both enhanced to a felony property crime due to his numerous previous larceny convictions.

  • 8:52 p.m. – A black male was reportedly assaulting a white female in front of the South State Bank at 10671 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.  Responding Officers ultimately discovered the pair walking on West Adams Street at the South Railroad intersection where the female was found to be 12 years old.  She was uncooperative with Officers attempting to gather information regarding the assault and there was no evidence of any manifestations of injury.  On call DSS Agents were contacted and the juvenile was ultimately transported by RPD Officers to Savannah GA where she was turned over to the care and custody of family members.

DECEMBER 17, 2017

  • 6:07 a.m. – Officers responded to a report of a white male knocking on various tenant’s door at The Plantation Inn Motel at 11433 North Jacob Smart Boulevard where Christopher Cory Parker was ultimately placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center after being found to be grossly intoxicated in the parking lot area of the business.

  • 10:49 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted at a residence on Sailfish Circle in the Carters Mill Estates Community after a 911 hang up call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.

  • 12:58 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at Ken’s Tire Service at 10464 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 1:44 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported at the intersection of Old House and Bees Creek Road in reference to a black pickup.

  • 8:56 p.m. – A black male was reportedly causing a disturbance shouting at a female in the parking lot of the Harvey’s Grocery Store at 8205 East Main Street.

  • 10:22 p.m. – A loitering complaint was filed regarding a group of individuals standing around in the parking lot area of the South State Bank at 10671 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 10:27 p.m. – A suspicious male driving a small green passenger car was reported outside of a residence on Driggers Lane.

  • 10:28 p.m. – A silver Hyundai Genesis was involved in a single vehicle collision in front of the Advance Auto Parts Store at 10424 South Jacob Smart Boulevard after striking a deer in the roadway.  No injuries were reported.

DECEMBER 16, 2017

  • 12:29 a.m. – A suspicious silver Chevy Monte Carlo was reported at Webster’s Towing at 10137 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 3:14 a.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputies involved in the pursuit of a burgundy Hyundai passenger car which fled from an attempted traffic stop for a moving violation on Tillman Road near the Carters Mill Road intersection.  The pursuit continued onto Smith’s Crossing and then South on Highway 17 to the Kato Bay Road intersection.  The suspect then turned left attempting to get onto I-95 North where he lost control of the vehicle due to his excessive speeds and left the roadway striking several trees bordering the Northbound entrance ramp.  Driver Jamal Hassan Coakley, 19 of Beaufort SC, was taken into custody by pursuing Deputies and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center under a charge of failure to stop for blue lights/siren.  Two of his passengers were transported to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for treatment.

  • 6:30 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on East Woodlawn Street.

  • 10:16 a.m. – A financial transaction card forgery/fraud complaint was filed by a Varnville SC business owner after four unauthorized transactions appeared on their South State bank statement having occurred on the morning of December 15th at the Ridgeland Exxon Station at 8310 East Main Street despite the card still in the victim’s possession.  Another complaint was later received by a Ridgeville SC resident regarding an unauthorized transaction on their South State card during the same time frame and at the same location and again, with the card still in their possession.  Surveillance video is being reviewed for suspect identification and pending charges.  The Ridgeland Police Department would like to take this opportunity to warn citizens about the use of “credit card skimmers” which is becoming more and more prevalent as technology advances.  Two traffic stops on I-95 within the last 2 months between the Ridgeland Police Department and the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office netted suspects using these devices with equipment used to print forged cards right inside of the vehicle ready for use immediately and without the need to travel to a different location.  This gives these criminals the advantage of emptying victims’ bank accounts within minutes of obtaining the information and printing the cards before banks and credit services even have a chance to spot the suspicious activity and suspend the account.  The recent RPD case was turned over to the FBI which has so far discovered more than 300 victims information from all over the country contained in the laptop and skimmer seized during the stop.  Click here for an article detailing steps you may take to safeguard yourself against these criminals and please always be aware of your surroundings.

  • 11:17 a.m. – A 39 year old white male was transported by EMS from the intersection of South Railroad Avenue and West Main Street to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for evaluation after reportedly making statements that he may wish to do harm to himself.

  • 2:21 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Jasper County Courthouse at 265 Russell Street.

  • 5:59 p.m. – A parking dispute between customers was reported outside of the Sunoco Station at 11965 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 9:25 p.m. – A suspicious white Chevy Silverado pickup was reported outside of Pam’s Barber Shop at 716 West Adams Street.

  • 10:27 p.m. – A suspicious male was reported in the parking lot area of the Rite Aid Pharmacy at 8225 East Main Street.

  • 10:27 p.m. – A black female reportedly stole a cell phone from a male customer at the Gulf Station at 8250 East Main Street before fleeing the area on foot.

DECEMBER 15, 2017

  • 12:25 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Sunoco Station at 11965 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 1:53 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Carquest Auto Parts Store at 11059 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 7:53 a.m. – A suspicious discarded package containing possible narcotics was turned over to Law Enforcement after being discovered in the parking lot area of the O’Reilly Auto Parts Store at 11058 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 8:56 a.m. – A silver Chevy Silverado pickup and a gray Nissan Frontier were involved in a collision at the intersection of North Jacob Smart Boulevard and West Wilson Street.  No injuries were reported.

  • 10:07 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted on a male subject at The Siesta Motel at 10530 South Jacob Smart Boulevard who began acting irrationally following a fall in the parking lot area.  He was transported by EMS to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for analysis and treatment.

  • 11:54 a.m. – Thomas Coleman was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center in reference to an outstanding warrant issued by the Ridgeland Police Department after Officers spotted him outside of the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.  Coleman’s charges stemmed from a December 12th report filed at a vacant residence on East Wilson Street after the property owner discovered a broken side door window glass as well as several items inside which were ultimately identified as being Coleman’s personal property.

  • 11:59 a.m. – A complaint of a black female selling perfume out of a white passenger car was filed at the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.  The suspect left the area prior to Law Enforcement arrival.

  • 12:04 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted on a male employee at The Plantation Inn Motel at 11433 North Jacob Smart Boulevard after Management discovered his room door to be unsecured.

  • 1:21 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on Old House Road at the Honey Hill intersection in reference to a white Honda.

  • 2:17 p.m. – A vehicle theft was reported at JB’s Auto Sales at 10074 South Jacob Smart Boulevard after a white male entered onto the business property and stole a yellow 2014 Dodge Ram pickup.  The vehicle was soon after spotted on I-95 South around the 17 mile marker at which point a pursuit ensued reaching speeds in excess of 100 mph as the suspect crossed the SC/GA state line.  The pursuit continued onto Highway 21 and then Highway 30 ultimately ending after the driver lost control due to his tires being disabled.  Dennis Wesley Chapman, 42 of Clyo GA, then fled the area on foot but was quickly apprehended by pursuing Officers and transported to the Effingham County Detention Center under numerous stolen property and fleeing charges.

  • 3:33 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on McTeer Street.

  • 5:20 p.m. – A loitering complaint was filed at Logan Lane Apartments at 544 South Logan Street in reference to a group of males standing around in the parking lot area.

  • 5:42 p.m. – A gray Nissan Versa was involved in a single vehicle collision at the intersection of Tillman Road and Heron Crossing Drive after striking a deer in the roadway.  No injuries were reported.

  • 6:32 p.m. – A loitering complaint was filed at Ridge Point Apartments at 669 North Green Street in reference to a group of individuals reportedly consuming alcohol in front of the building.

  • 6:58 p.m. – An equipment trailer being towed by a white van was reportedly detached from the trailer hitch causing it to swerve in the roadway while still being attached by the safety chains on I-95 North around the 18 mile marker.

  • 7:36 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at a residence on North Green Street after a suspicious light was seen coming from inside of the home.  Responding Officers discovered an unsecured door with no signs of forced entry and no persons found inside.  The home was locked and secured prior to Law Enforcement departure as the homeowner was contacted by telephone.

  • 1:14 a.m. – A suspicious vehicle was reported in the parking lot of the Advance Auto Parts Store at 10424 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 5:15 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 12 mile marker in reference to a white tractor trailer.

  • 5:42 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Pizza Bella Restaurant at 8196 East Main Street.

  • 6:07 a.m. – A white Kia Sorento was involved in a single vehicle collision at the intersection of North Green Street and North Jacob Smart Boulevard after striking a deer in the roadway.  No injuries were reported.

  • 7:17 a.m. – A civil dispute was filed by a local hair salon owner regarding a stop payment on a recent Paypal transaction for services rendered on Friday September 15th.

  • 9:03 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 24 mile marker in reference to a burgundy tractor trailer.

  • 9:39 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Boys & Girls Club at 456 Grays Highway.

  • 11:22 a.m. – An animal complaint was filed at the Gulf Station at 8250 East Main Street in reference to a stray cat roaming the business property.

  • 11:40 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted at a residence on Colony Drive following a report of a possible broken window.

  • 12:29 p.m. – A suspicious male and female were reported at a vacant residence on North Green Street.

  • 7:20 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 33 mile marker in reference to an orange Ford Mustang.

  • 7:45 p.m. – A black Lenovo laptop computer was reportedly stolen from a tenant’s room at the Christ Central Mission at 11754 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 10:27 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Short Stop BP Station at 10728 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

DECEMBER 13, 2017

  • 1:14 a.m. – A white Dodge Dart was stopped for an expired South Carolina tag violation in the parking lot of the EZ Stop IV Station at 80 Blue Heron Drive where the black male driver exited the vehicle and fled the area on foot initiating a short pursuit which ended on the I-95 Northbound entrance ramp when he was captured by pursuing Officers.  De Edward Jamal Williams was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center where he was later served with a violation of probation charge by the South Carolina Department of Probation & Parole.  The vehicle he was driving was released to the registered owner.

  • 3:37 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted at the SCE&G Solar Farm on Fordville Road following a report of suspicious noises at a secured entrance.

  • 4:15 a.m. – A suspicious white Toyota Tundra pickup was reported behind the Ridgeland Post Office at 7554 West Main Street.

  • 4:29 a.m. – A large RV was reportedly traveling South on I-95 around the 30 mile marker with a blown tire on the passenger vehicle being towed causing a shower of sparks on the roadway.

  • 8:38 a.m. – Officers responded the the former Jasper’s Porch Restaurant at 153 James Taylor Drive after a maintenance worker discovered a spigot left open on the outdoor deck area.

  • 11:51 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 in reference to a R&J Trucking tractor trailer traveling North between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.

  • 5:47 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 21 mile marker in reference to a tractor trailer operating with a disabled tire.

  • 6:15 p.m. – A white Nissan Maxima and a black Kia Sorento were involved in a collision at the intersection of Bees Creek and Grahamville Road.  No injuries were reported.

  • 7:50 p.m. – A complaint was received by a passing motorist of a male reportedly walking South on I-95 around the 18 mile marker.  The subject was escorted off of the roadway by responding Officers and advised of the laws prohibiting pedestrians on the interstate.

  • 11:24 p.m. – Two suspicious males were reportedly peering through the windows of vehicles parked outside of various residences on North Jasper Street.  The Ridgeland Police Department would like to remind citizens to always lock your vehicle doors no matter how short of a time you may be away from them and to never leave valuables inside.  If anything must be left inside ensure that it is never in plain view from the outside. 

DECEMBER 12, 2017

  • 7:30 a.m. – A burglary was reported at the Wendy’s Restaurant at 8480 Grahamville Road after employees arriving for work discovered a shattered side door window.  Surveillance video reveals two males entering the business just after 4 a.m. and stealing an undisclosed amount of money.  Evidence collected at the scene has been submitted to the SLED Forensics Laboratory for analysis and suspect identification.

  • 9:16 a.m. – Officers responded to a vacant residence on East Wilson Street after the property owner discovered a broken side door window glass.  After clearing the home of any suspects Officers discovered several personal items indicating that someone had been sleeping inside.  The items were collected and transported to the Ridgeland Police Department.

  • 12:29 p.m. – Dykeiyra Shakur Heyward turned herself in to Deputies at the Jasper County Detention Center at 12008 North Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to an outstanding grand larceny warrant issued against her by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office stemming from a November 8th theft at a residence on Canvasback Drive in Hardeeville. Ridgeland Officers then served a second warrant against her issued by RPD stemming from a December 3rd domestic dispute between herself and her son’s Father at the intersection of South Jacob Smart Boulevard and Kato Bay Road where she struck him with her vehicle during a verbal dispute before fleeing the area driving South towards Hardeeville prior to Law Enforcement arrival.

  • 1:03 p.m. – A civil dispute between an estranged couple was reported at a residence on Colony Drive in the Bees Creek Plantation Community.

  • 3:30 p.m. – A complaint was filed at the Star Point BP Station at 11122 North Jacob Smart Boulevard after a check that was cashed on September 19th by Tanisha Lanear Robinson, 25 of Ridgeland, was returned and identified as counterfeit.

  • 7:21 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 31 mile marker in reference to a brown Chevy passenger car.

  • 7:23 a.m. – A complaint was received of an orange tractor trailer operating with an unsecured load of gravel traveling South on I-95 around the 26 mile marker.

  • 1:36 p.m. – A theft was reported at the Coldwell Banker Office at 7992 East Main Street after a black male filling out a housing application stole a bank deposit bag containing an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the area.  Surveillance video and physical evidence collected at the scene is being reviewed for suspect identification and pending charges.

  • 1:51 p.m. – A black male was reportedly asking customers and passers by for money in the parking lot area of the Short Stop BP Station at 10728 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 4:06 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on Taylor Mill Road.

  • 4:37 p.m. – A suspicious white male and white female were reported at the Dollar General Store at 8123 East Main Street.

  • 5:12 p.m. – A silver Chevy 1500 pickup was stopped for speeding on I-95 North around the 22 mile marker where driver Lee Vernon Crapse was found to be operating under the influence of alcohol.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as A-1 Towing took possession of the vehicle.

  • 5:49 p.m. – A suspicious white Honda Odyssey was reported at the McDonald’s Restaurant at 8548 Grahamville Road.

  • 7:19 p.m. – A black male and a black female were reportedly involved in a verbal domestic dispute in the parking lot area of the Harvey’s Grocery Store at 8205 East Main Street.

  • 9:52 p.m. – A suspicious brown Ford Explorer was reported in the parking lot area of the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office at 12008 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 11:00 p.m. – A silver Honda Accord was stopped for speeding on I-95 South around the 19 mile marker where driver Edy Ramon Garcia-Vasquez was found to be operating without a driver’s license.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Elite Towing took possession of the vehicle.

  • 12:48 a.m. – A suspicious person was reported outside of a residence at Woodridge Apartments at 414 South Logan Street.

  • 1:22 a.m. – A domestic dispute between a male and a female was reported at the Ridgeland Weekly Rentals at 67 West Woodlawn Street.

  • 2:09 a.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted South Carolina Highway Patrol at the intersection of Lowcountry Drive and Cherry Hill Road after a black male driver fled on foot into a wooded area after being stopped for a speeding violation.

  • 3:44 a.m. – A gray Chevy Camaro was stopped for speeding on Old House Road near the Good Hope intersection where driver Trey Nirobi Garvin, 22 of Ridgeland, was ultimately placed under arrest by assisting South Carolina Highway Patrol Officers and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center under a charge of driving under the influence.

  • 4:11 a.m. – A Volvo s60 was involved in a single vehicle collision on Highway 462 at the Salzburg Landing Road intersection after the driver lost control and overturned the vehicle several times before coming to a stop in a wooded area.  The 60 year old male driver was airlifted to Savannah Memorial Hospital for treatment.

  • 10:21 a.m. – A white Nissan Altima suffered a broken windshield after a piece of road debris reportedly struck it while traveling North on I-95 around the 23 mile marker.

  • 12:10 p.m. – A complaint was received at a residence on Colony Drive in the Bees Creek Plantation Community regarding the caller’s estranged spouse allegedly returning to the property in violation of a recently issued order of protection.

  • 1:11 p.m. – A wallet was reportedly stolen from inside of a Hyundai Elantra left unlocked outside of a residence on Wise Street during the overnight hours.

  • 1:15 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on West Woodlawn Street.

  • 6:03 p.m. – A domestic dispute between an adult female and her parents was reported at a residence on East Wilson Street.

  • 1:01 a.m. – A suspicious vehicle was reported in the parking lot area of the Ridgeland Correctional Institution at 5 Correctional Road.

  • 1:10 a.m. – A suspicious male was reported in the parking lot area of the Citgo Station at 107 Sycamore Drive.

  • 2:23 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 32 mile marker in reference to a white Dodge van.

  • 3:27 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Short Stop BP Station at 10728 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 8:51 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Baptist Church at 1448 Grays Highway.

  • 9:08 a.m. –  An animal complaint was filed on Old Logan Street in reference to several dogs from a neighboring home wandering the area.

  • 10:07 a.m. – Talid Rashee Drake, 37 of Ridgeland, was placed on trespass notice for the business property of the Simply Carolina Kitchen & Bath Showroom at 10688 South Jacob Smart Boulevard at Management’s request.

  • 4:58 p.m. – A Champagne colored Toyota Camry was involved in a single vehicle collision after striking a deer in the roadway at the intersection of Highway 462 and Deloss Point Road.  No injuries were reported.

  • 4:59 p.m. – A large piece of tire debris was reported in the roadway on I-95 South around the 22 mile marker.

  • 9:00 p.m. – A complaint was received at a residence on Colony Drive in the Bees Creek Plantation Community regarding the caller’s estranged spouse allegedly returning to the property in violation of a recently issued order of protection.

  • 11:26 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputies in responding to a report of a shooting incident at a home on Bees Creek Road by the Family Circle intersection where two adult black males, one inside of the home and one by the roadway, were found to have suffered apparent gunshot wounds.  Both subjects were ultimately airlifted to Savannah Memorial Hospital for treatment.

  • 2:05 a.m. – Two suspicious passenger cars were reported in the parking lot area of the Sunoco Station at 11965 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 2:13 a.m. – A suspicious black male was reported at the Short Stop BP Station at 10728 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 5:59 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Jasper County Magistrate’s Office at 967 West Adams Street.

  • 6:42 a.m. – A Freightliner box truck was involved in a single vehicle collision on I-95 South around the 22 mile marker after the driver lost control and struck the center median guard wires.  No injuries were reported.

  • 9:37 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 14 mile marker in reference to a silver Chrysler mini van.

  • 12:03 p.m. – A civil dispute regarding payment of an outstanding bill was reported at the Carolina Lodge Motel at 8260 East Main Street.

  • 12:43 p.m. – A property damage report was filed at the Legacy Realty Office at 10616 South Jacob Smart Boulevard after employees discovered several letters having been torn from the front entrance business sign.  A review of surveillance footage revealed three female juveniles coming from the Siesta Motel at 10530 South Jacob Smart Boulevard at 7:41 a.m. and committing the act while waiting for their school bus.

  • 1:49 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Kingdom Touch Ministries Church at 6714 Tillman Road.

  • 2:40 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 27 mile marker in reference to a white Chevy Silverado pickup towing a pontoon boat.

  • 5:44 p.m. – A loitering complaint was filed at Heron Crossing Apartments at 72 Heron Crossing Drive in reference to several subjects standing around in the parking lot area.

  • 7:13 p.m. – A complaint was filed by a male tenant at the Carolina Lodge Motel at 8260 East Main Street after a group of invited guests reportedly refused to leave the room when ordered.

  • 9:18 p.m. – RPD Officers assisted South Carolina Highway Patrol in responding to a single vehicle collision on I-95 North around the 16 mile marker involving a blue four door sedan.  One occupant was treated on scene and released by responding EMS Personnel.

  • 9:00 a.m. – RPD Officers traveled to the Jasper County Detention Center at 12008 North Jacob Smart Boulevard where a newly issued fugitive from justice warrant was served against inmate Robert Michael Haldorson pending his extradition by the Wythe County VA Sheriff’s Office to face burglary charges.  Haldorson has been housed at the Jasper County Detention Center since his August 2nd arrest at a residence on Hagin Drive where he was found hiding inside of a bathroom during execution of a search warrant on an unrelated case.  His charges stemmed from an April 29th burglary at a residence on Live Oak Farm Road where he and co-defendant Matthew Gene Hatchell, 21 of Ridgeland, broke in during the nighttime hours while the homeowner was at work and stole a rifle and ammunition before fleeing the state to Wythe County VA where both were later arrested on June 7th after committing burglaries in that jurisdiction.  Haldorson then bonded out and fled the state returning to South Carolina in an effort to avoid prosecution.  Co-defendant Hatchell was arrested on November 28th at the South Carolina Department of Probation & Parole at 214 Second Avenue.

  • 3:24 p.m. – A suspicious male was reported inside of a beige Hyundai Elantra in the parking lot of the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 3:56 p.m. – A harassment complaint was filed at a residence on Shadetree Street in the Carters Mill Estates Community regarding unwanted text messages.

  • 4:56 p.m. – Officers responded to a domestic dispute over a recently served eviction notice at a residence on Shadetree Street in the Carters Mill Estates Community.

  • 5:01 p.m. – A suspicious brown SUV was reported on Rice Shire Road near the Highway 462 intersection.

  • 7:52 p.m. – A suspicious gray Ford Focus was reported on I-95 North around the 21 mile marker.

  • 8:13 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Kingdom Touch Ministries Church at 6714 Tillman Road.

  • 8:28 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted on a male resident at a home on North Green Street after an co-worker was unable to make contact with him for an extended period of time.

  • 8:49 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted on a female subject at the Ridgeland School at 250 Jaguar Trail after relatives were unable to make contact with her for an extended period of time.

  • 11:24 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted South Carolina Highway Patrol in responding to an overturned white Dodge on I-95 North around the 16 mile marker.  No injuries were reported.

DECEMBER 6, 2017

  • 12:53 a.m. – A red Honda Accord was stopped for speeding on I-95 North at the exit 22 interchange where driver Daniel Martinez was found to be operating under a suspended New York driver’s license as well as using an inoperable speedometer.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as JB’s Towing took possession of the vehicle.

  • 3:44 a.m. – A U-Haul Rentals box truck was involved in a single vehicle collision on I-95 South around the 22 mile marker after the driver fell asleep and left the roadway striking the center median guard wires.  No injuries were reported.
  • 9:21 a.m. – A suspicious female was reported in the parking lot area of the Quality Inn Motel at 221 James Taylor Drive.

  • 1:57 p.m. – A black male driving a white sedan was reportedly assaulting a female passenger inside of the vehicle in the Oakridge Trailer Park Community. The vehicle left the area prior to Law Enforcement arrival.

  • 4:05 p.m. – A burgundy Freightliner tractor trailer and a white Volvo tractor trailer were involved in a collision on I-95 South around the 17 mile marker.  No injuries were reported.

  • 5:18 p.m. – An animal complaint was filed on Oakridge North in the Oakridge Trailer Park Community regarding numerous stray cats roaming the area.

  • 10:00 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies in responding to a report of possible gunshots being fired from a moving vehicle in the Queen’s Way area.

DECEMBER 5, 2017

  • 1:23 a.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies at the intersection of Family Circle and Chinaberry Drive following a vehicle pursuit involving a black Chevy Camaro.  The incident initiated on Bees Creek Road at the Fordville Road intersection where Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle for a speeding violation.  The driver then accelerated refusing to stop and ultimately turned onto Family Circle where he began throwing several parcels of cocaine and crack cocaine out of the windows before coming to a stop at Chinaberry Drive where he was taken into custody without further incident still in possession of additional quantities of crack and marijuana.  Jami Chadren Mack, 36 of Hardeeville, was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center under charges of speeding, failure to stop for blue lights/siren, simple possession of marijuana, cocaine trafficking & possession of crack cocaine.

  • 8:58 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 20 mile marker in reference to a brown pickup.

  • 9:36 a.m. – A black Springfield Armory 45 caliber handgun was reportedly stolen out of a vehicle left unlocked outside of a residence on Brandon Cove in the North Ridge Community.  The theft is believed to have occurred sometime after December 3rd.

  • 10:56 a.m. – A harassment complaint was filed at Ridge Point Apartments at 669 North Green Street after a tenant reportedly received threatening phone calls.

  • 11:16 a.m. – An animal complaint was filed regarding several stray cats outside of the former Ridgeland Hospital at 1506 Grays Highway.

  • 11:41 a.m. – A noise complaint was received in reference to a loud vehicle exhaust in the Bees Creek Plantation Community.

  • 3:03 p.m. – A disturbance was reported at the Spay & Neuter Clinic at 21 Getsinger Street after a customer allegedly made threatening statements to the complainant during a verbal dispute regarding policy.

  • 3:13 p.m. – An animal complaint was filed on Old Logan Street in reference to several dogs from a neighboring home wandering the area.

  • 5:39 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at Heron Crossing Apartments at 72 Heron Crossing Drive after a 911 hang up call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.

  • 8:48 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted on a white female in the parking lot area of the Ridgeland Weekly Rentals at 67 West Woodlawn Street following reports that she was lying on the ground shouting for help.

DECEMBER 4, 2017

  • 1:32 a.m. – A black male was reportedly sleeping inside of a black Nissan Pathfinder in the parking lot of the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office at 12008 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

  • 2:51 a.m. – A suspicious vehicle was reported in the parking lot of the Jasper County Health Department at 651 Grays Highway.

  • 8:17 a.m. – An animal complaint was filed on Highway 462 at the Murad Road intersection in reference to a stray black Labrador Retriever roaming the area.

  • 10:58 a.m. – A suspicious black male was reported at the intersection of West Main Street and North Railroad Avenue.

  • 2:32 p.m. – RPD Officers traveled to the Beaufort County Detention Center at 100 Ribaut Road where inmate Sammy Washington was turned over to their custody and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center in reference to an outstanding warrant issued by the Ridgeland Police Department.  Washington’s charges stemmed from a January 22nd 2014 incident at Heron Crossing Apartments at 72 Heron Crossing Driver where he struck and choked his 41 year old live in girlfriend before stealing her purse and fleeing the area prior to Law Enforcement arrival.

  • 4:12 p.m. – Two tractor trailers were reportedly impeding traffic flow on I-95 South around the 24 mile marker.

  • 5:45 p.m. – A fugitive from justice affidavit was issued against a female inmate at the Jasper County Detention Center after a search of the National Fingerprint Database positively identified her as Teresa Fulees who is listed as a wanted person by the Harris County TX Sheriff’s Office.  Fulees was originally arrested by RPD during a December 1st traffic stop on I-95 South under the charge of driving without a license and booked under a fictitious name and date of birth she provided the arresting Officers in an effort to conceal her identity.  A 48 hour ICE hold was later placed on her pending return of the fingerprint information which ultimately identified her as a wanted person.

  • 7:42 p.m. – A reckless driver complaint was filed on I-95 in reference to two black SUV’s traveling North between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.

  • 8:18 p.m. – A shoplifting was reported at the Family Dollar Store at 73 South Green Street after a black male was captured on surveillance video stealing several store items and then leaving the business property as a passenger in a white Nissan Altima.  A warrant has been issued against Edward Dwayne Garvin, 54 of Ridgeland, under the charge of felony property crime enhancement due to his numerous previous larceny convictions in addition to his already outstanding warrant for a November 15th report filed at the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard where he was captured on surveillance video stealing a business vacuum cleaner the previous day.

  • 9:22 p.m. – A complaint was filed at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue after a verbal altercation between a male and female ended with the male party taking a cell phone from the home without permission and leaving the area.  The victim declined pursuing charges in the matter.

  • 9:50 p.m. – A suspicious female was reported at the intersection of Smith and North Logan Street.

DECEMBER 3, 2017

  • 12:15 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted in the area of the Sunoco Station at 11965 North Jacob Smart Boulevard after a 911 call was received from a male subject alleging that he was being harassed.

  • 12:40 a.m. – A domestic dispute between a male and a female was reported at a residence on Oakridge South in the Oakridge Trailer Park Community.

  • 8:42 a.m. – A domestic dispute between a male and a female driving a Nissan Sentra with their one year old son inside of the vehicle was reported at the intersection of South Jacob Smart Boulevard and Kato Bay Road.  The argument culminated in the female striking the male with the vehicle after he exited to retrieve his phone when she threw it out of the window before stopping.  She then continued South on Kato Bay Road towards Hardeeville as the male victim was treated and released by responding EMS Personnel.  A warrant has been issued against Dkeiyra Shakur Heyward, 22 of Ridgeland, charging her with domestic violence 2nd degree in addition to the recently issued grand larceny warrant issued by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office in November.

  • 9:38 a.m. – A civil dispute regarding a recently issued order of protection was reported stemming from an ongoing domestic issue between an estranged male and a female at a residence on Colony Drive in the Bees Creek Plantation Community.  Unique Ford, 25 of Sheldon SC, is currently listed as a wanted person by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office being charged with violating said order of protection.

  • 2:38 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 26 mile marker in reference to a black four door sedan.

  • 3:23 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 18 mile marker in reference to a black Nissan.

  • 3:46 p.m. – A suspicious person was reported outside of a residence at Ridge Point Apartments at 669 North Green Street.

  • 5:10 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported at the intersection of Highway 462 and Salzburg Landing Road in reference to a silver Ford pickup traveling West.

  • 6:48 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported at the Exxon Station at 8310 East Main Street in reference to a gray Lexus passenger car.

  • 7:39 p.m. – A suspicious person was reported at the Travelodge Motel at 8216 East Main Street.

DECEMBER 2, 2017

  • 3:07 a.m. – A noise complaint was filed at a residence on Tarboro Road in reference to loud music coming from a neighboring home.

  • 3:18 a.m. – A suspicious white male was reported at the intersection of Tarboro Road and Quail Drive.

  • 5:44 a.m. – A white Ford Escape was stopped for a failure to signal turn violation on Smith’s Crossing at the Sauls Drive intersection where driver Ronald Q. Shermer was found to be in possession of a quantity of crack cocaine in addition to several used syringes and other drug paraphernalia.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as A-1 Towing took possession of the vehicle.

  • 8:55 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the DaVita Dialysis Center at 112 Weathersbee Street.  A second activation occurred at 10:01 a.m.

  • 9:26 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 33 mile marker in reference to a white USPS tractor trailer.

  • 11:23 a.m. – An animal complaint was filed on Old Logan Street regarding several pit bulls roaming the area.

  • 12:05 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 31 mile marker in reference to a white Dodge convertible.

  • 1:48 p.m. – A red van and a white Cadillac were reportedly racing while traveling North on I-95 between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.

  • 3:03 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on Highway 462 in reference to a green Toyota Avalon traveling East.

  • 7:04 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on Kato Bay Road in reference to a black Nissan.

  • 7:22 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted on a female subject at the Fiddlers Seafood Restaurant at 7738 West Main Street after she accidentally locked herself out of her home.

  • 7:49 p.m. – A noise complaint was filed at a residence on Shadetree Street in the Carters Mill Estates Community regarding loud music coming from a neighboring home.

  • 7:57 p.m. – A black Hyundai Genesis and a gray Toyota Yaris were involved in a collision on I-95 North around the 20 mile marker.  No injuries were reported.

  • 8:23 p.m. – A property damage complaint was filed at a residence on Shadetree Street in the Carters Mill Estates Community after an unknown vehicle struck a satellite dish outside of the complainant’s home.

  • 9:04 p.m. – A disturbance was reported at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue after a black male began acting erratically and shouting as he ran from the complainant’s residence.  While searching for the subject responding Officers discovered damage to the front door of a neighboring apartment indicating that it had been kicked in.  Ramoan Elliot Chester was found inside of the home having forced entry through the front door before arming himself with a knife which he attempted to conceal beside a living room sofa.  He was placed under arrest without incident and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

  • 10:37 p.m. – A noise complaint was filed at a residence on Second Avenue in reference to loud music coming from a neighboring home.

  • 11:15 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 14 mile marker in reference to a white Ford van.

DECEMBER 1, 2017

  • 3:21 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 12 mile marker in reference to a gray tractor trailer.

  • 4:57 a.m. – A gray Dodge Ram pickup was involved in a single vehicle collision on I-95 South around the 18 mile marker after striking a deer in the roadway.  No injuries were reported.

  • 8:46 a.m. – A suspicious white passenger car was reportedly parked on the shoulder on I-95 North around the 22 mile marker.

  • 9:31 a.m. – An animal complaint was filed at the Quality Inn Motel at 221 James Taylor Drive in reference to two stray dogs roaming the business property.

  • 9:44 a.m. – A Ford Mustang and a Ford Escape were involved in a collision at the Sunoco Station at 11965 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.  No injuries were reported.

  • 11:12 a.m. – Two suspicious black males were reported at the intersection of West Main Street and North Railroad Avenue.

  • 12:16 p.m. – A silver Dodge Avenger was stopped for speeding on I-95 South around the 19 mile marker where driver Teresa Funez was found to be operating without a driver’s license.  She was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Little T’s Towing took possession of the vehicle.

  • 3:04 p.m. – An animal complaint was filed at Heron Crossing Apartments at 72 Heron Crossing Drive in reference to a stray dog roaming the property.

  • 3:13 p.m. – A suspicious white Suzuki passenger car was reported in the parking lot area of the Quality Inn Motel at 221 James Taylor Drive.

  • 7:46 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted on a 29 year old Hispanic male at a residence on Sailfish Circle in the Carters Mill Estates Community after information was received of erratic behavior.  He was ultimately transported by EMS to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for evaluation and later transported by RPD Officers at 11:27 p.m. to the Palmetto Behavioral Health Center in North Charleston.

  • 8:39 p.m. – A red Ford Focus was stopped for a suspended South Carolina tag violation on Grays Highway by the Russell Street intersection where driver Liakiasha Tashae McKeever, 22 of Pineland SC, was found to be operating under a suspended South Carolina driver’s license as well as being in possession of a quantity of marijuana.  She was cited for the offenses and assigned a court date prior to leaving the area.

  • 10:09 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 in reference to a gray Jeep Wrangler traveling North between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.  The vehicle was ultimately stopped after numerous additional complaints around the 19 mile marker where driver George Franklin Wilhoit Jr. was found to be operating under the influence of alcohol as well as having an open container of beer in his possession.  Further investigation revealed him to not have a driver’s license or proof of valid insurance coverage resulting in additional charges.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Scott’s Automotive took possession of the vehicle.

  • 10:20 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at the Exxon Station at 8310 East Main Street after a 911 hang up call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.

  • 11:14 p.m. – A breach of trust report was filed at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue after the complainant’s white Chevy Tahoe was not returned after allowing a male acquaintance to borrow it.
