DAILY CRIME REPORTS – January, 2017

THE FOLLOWING INCIDENTS ARE AN ACCOUNT OF CALLS AND CASES RESPONDED TO BY OFFICERS OF THE RIDGELAND POLICE DEPARTMENT. THESE CASES ARE CLOSED OR CURRENTLY UNDER INVESTIGATION. JANUARY 31, 2017

  • 7:38 a.m. – A gold 1997 Ford F150 pickup fled from Officers attempting to conduct a traffic stop on North Jacob Smart Boulevard after the Georgia tag displayed on the vehicle revealed it as being listed as stolen from a 2016 Hyundai Sonata in the parking lot of the Quality Inn Motel at 221 James Taylor Drive on November 15th 2016.  A short pursuit ensued as the suspect vehicle turned onto Captain Bill Road in an attempt to evade the Officer and then onto Firefly Drive where it left the roadway stopping in front of a private residence.  A black male then exited the driver’s seat and fled on foot running into a wooded area towards Captain Bill Road.  A check of the vehicle identification number, (VIN), revealed it to be listed as stolen by the Richmond County Georgia Sheriff’s Office since November 15th 2016.  Numerous pieces of evidence were collected from inside which were submitted to the SLED Forensics Laboratory for DNA analysis and suspect identification.  The vehicle was then removed from the area by Webster’s Towing pending return to the rightful owner.

  • 8:04 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Boys & Girls Club at 913 Grays Highway.
  • 11:45 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 22 mile marker in reference to a blue pickup towing a camper.
  • 12:19 p.m. – A disturbance was reported at a residence on South Logan Street after the complainant’s 12 year old son used a debit card without permission to purchase video games.
  • 2:09 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at a residence on Wiley Street in reference to a possible case of child neglect.
  • 2:43 p.m. – A complaint was filed on North Green Street in reference to two males reportedly selling furniture from the back of a white box truck.
  • 3:19 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at a residence at Heron Crossing Apartments at 313 Heron Crossing Drive in reference to a 73 year old female tenant.  She was ultimately transported by EMS to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for evaluation and treatment.
  • 6:18 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Baptist Church at 1448 Grays Highway.
  • 6:30 p.m. – A silver Nissan Maxima was stopped for an improper backing violation in front of the O-Reilly Auto Parts Store at 11058 North Jacob Smart Boulevard at which time the driver struck the Officer’s patrol vehicle.  South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to the scene to investigate the collision ultimately placing driver Michael Dwayne Riley, 46 of Yemassee SC, under arrest for driving under the influence.  No injuries were reported in the initial collision.
  • 11:42 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted on a 30 year old male subject in the parking lot of the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard after he made statements that he may wish to do harm to himself.  He was ultimately transported by EMS to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for evaluation and later transferred to the Palmetto Behavioral Health Center in North Charleston.

JANUARY 30, 2017

  • 5:47 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Exxon Station at 8310 East Main Street.
  • 7:27 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Boys & Girls Club at 913 Grays Highway.
  • 10:39 a.m. – A complaint was filed in reference to a white RV reportedly parked in the fire lane at the Waffle House Restaurant at 8185 East Main Street.
  • 12:54 p.m. – A GMC Sierra pickup was stopped for speeding on I-95 North around the 25 mile marker where passenger Olivia Jeana Long, 23 of Lexington NC, was found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana.  She was cited for the offense and assigned a court date prior to leaving the area.
  • 12:55 p.m. – A black Chevy Equinox was stopped for a suspended South Carolina tag violation on I-95 South around the 20 mile marker where driver Marquis E. Terry was found to be operating under a suspended South Carolina driver’s license.  A check of his record showed him to be listed as a wanted person by the Hardeeville Police Department stemming from a failure to appear on a recent DUI violation at which point he was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center. Passenger Karina Tecchi, 42 of Bluffton SC, was found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana resulting in her being cited and assigned a court date prior to leaving the area as Eric’s Towing took possession of the vehicle.
  • 4:26 p.m. – A white Ford F350 pickup towing a 24′ trailer was involved in a single vehicle collision on I-95 North around the 24 mile marker after the driver lost control and struck a group of trees.  No injuries were reported.
  • 8:54 p.m. – A 30 year old male was transported by EMS from a residence on North Green Street to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for treatment to a laceration on his arm.

JANUARY 29, 2017

  • 7:47 a.m. – An animal complaint was filed at a residence on East Main Street in reference to a reportedly aggressive dog at a neighboring home.
  • 7:52 a.m. – A suspicious vehicle was reported in the parking lot of the EZ Stop IV Station at 80 Blue Heron Drive in reference to a gray Ford Mustang.
  • 8:09 a.m. – A suspicious vehicle was reported underneath the Smith’s Crossing I-95 overpass in reference to a blue Toyota Camry.
  • 9:10 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 30 mile marker in reference to a white tractor trailer.
  • 10:16 a.m. – A civil dispute was reported at the Quality Inn Motel at 221 James Taylor Drive after damage to a wall was discovered inside of a recently vacated room.
  • 12:58 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies in service of two recently issued general sessions bench warrants against Rafael Demetrius Mack, 28, at a residence on Smith’s Crossing.  Once on scene it was discovered that Mack was not at the home, however Teinge Leroy Howard, 32, was located inside who was found to be listed as a wanted person by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office in reference to an outstanding 2016 Family Court bench warrant. He was placed under arrest by Deputies and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

  • 1:16 p.m. – A subject in a large box truck was reportedly selling furniture in the parking lot of the Ridgeland Baptist Church at 1448 Grays Highway.
  • 1:41 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 in reference to a black GMC Yukon traveling North between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.
  • 3:16 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported in reference to a gray Ford Explorer traveling East on Grays Highway at the Jaguar Trail intersection.
  • 3:54 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted on a white male juvenile sitting on the side of the railroad overpass on Highway 278 by the Green Street intersection.
  • 7:06 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 14 mile marker in reference to a red Chevy Camaro.
  • 7:28 p.m. – A verbal domestic dispute between a male and a female with a 5 year old child in common was reported at a residence on Shadetree Street in the Carters Mill Estates Community.
  • 9:51 p.m. – A Cadillac DTS and a Chevy Silverado pickup were involved in a collision on Smith’s Crossing at the I-95 overpass.  Both drivers were transported by EMS to Savannah Memorial Hospital for treatment.

JANUARY 28, 2017

  • 2:37 a.m. – Andre Lamont Williams turned himself in to Officers in the parking lot of the Daniel Defense Manufacturing Facility at 58 Firefly Drive where he was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center in reference to an outstanding warrant issued against him by the Ridgeland Police Department.  Williams’ charges stemmed from an April 19th 2013 burglary at a privately owned business at 8529 Grahamville Road where he removed the power meter box from the outside in order to disable the installed alarm system and then kicked open the front door.  Once inside, he attempted to steal a full size refrigerator but was unable to do so due to the appliance being wider than the back door.  Evidence collected at the scene was submitted to the Beaufort County Forensics Laboratory for DNA analysis which returned on January 25th of 2017 with a positive match to Williams identifying him as the person who committed the offense.
  • 3:30 a.m. – A suspicious person was reported outside of a residence on Sailfish Circle in the Carters Mill Estates Community.
  • 5:49 a.m. – A gray Cadillac DTS was stopped for speeding on Old House Road near the Good Hope Plantation entrance where driver Anthony Tyrone Wright was found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana as well as an open container of beer.  Further investigation revealed passenger Roderick Demond Wright to be in possession of a loaded 32 caliber Iver Johnson handgun concealed in his pocket as well as an open container of beer.  A check of his criminal record revealed him to be a convicted felon prohibited from possession firearms or ammunition.  Both subjects were placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as J&M Towing took possession of the vehicle.
  • 8:02 a.m. – A 55 year old white male was reportedly assaulted by a black male subject outside of his home at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue resulting in a laceration to the back of his head.  A relative of the suspect was soon after located who began complaining of harassment from the male victim but became uncooperative when asked about the suspect who had committed the assault. The victim was ultimately transported by EMS to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for treatment to the injury as well as evaluation under a mental health pick up order issued by the Jasper County Probate Office on January 27th.
  • 10:21 a.m. – A complaint was filed at a residence at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue after the caller discovered an unknown black male sleeping on the living room sofa.  The subject was ultimately determined to be a friend of the caller’s son who had been invited to stay the night.
  • 11:17 a.m. – A black Toyota Tundra pickup and a gray Cadillac Deville were involved in a collision at the intersection of Highway 17 and Smith’s Crossing. No injuries were reported.
  • 11:43 a.m. – An exercise bike was reportedly stolen from the bed of a pickup parked unoccupied outside of a residence on North Jacob Smart Boulevard. Surveillance footage is being reviewed for suspect identification and pending charges.
  • 1:56 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 21 mile marker in reference to a red pickup.
  • 4:00 p.m. – A complaint was filed in reference to a subject driving a large box truck going door to door in the North Ridge Community attempting to sell furniture.  The driver was warned of the penalties for solicitation without a business license and ordered to leave the area.
  • 5:15 p.m. – Officers responded to a verbal dispute between two male tenants in the parking lot area of the Econo Lodge Motel at 511 James Taylor Drive where Michael McSherry Reeves III, 33 of Ridgeland, was ultimately ordered to the leave the business property at Management’s request.
  • 6:02 p.m. – A road rage incident involving a blue pickup and a gold pickup was reported in front of the Wendy’s Restaurant at 8480 Grahamville Road after one of the vehicles allegedly slammed on brakes in front of the other.
  • 7:08 p.m. – Three Hispanic male juveniles were witnessed pouring beer and dirt into a vehicle gas tank outside of a residence on Oakridge North in the Oakridge trailer Park Community on North Green Street.  All suspects fled the area on foot when confronted by the victim running to a nearby home on the same street. Officers soon after located one of the suspects involved, a 12 year old male, whose Mother was advised that the victim did not wish to pursue charges in the matter as long as his vehicle was repaired.
  • 7:12 p.m. – A road rage incident involving a silver Ford F250 pickup and a silver Ford Focus was reported on I-95 North around the 21 mile marker.

JANUARY 27, 2017

  • 7:36 a.m. – A complaint was filed on Second Avenue in reference to a white male following and verbally harassing the complainant.
  • 7:42 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Boys & Girls Club at 913 Grays Highway.  A second activation occurred at 8:09 a.m. and a third at 8:49 a.m.
  • 9:02 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Saul’s Funeral Home Offices at 500 West Adams Street.
  • 11:22 a.m. – A report of possible animal neglect was reported in reference to a dog at a residence on Dolphin Drive in the Carters Mill Estates Community.
  • 11:24 a.m. – A complaint was filed in reference to a tractor trailer parked in the roadway in front of the Carquest Auto Parts Store at 11059 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 2:01 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on Smith’s Crossing.
  • 3:38 p.m. – A female was reportedly walking North on I-95 around the 13 mile marker.
  • 7:43 p.m. – A black Dodge Durango struck a bicycle that fell from a white pickup truck traveling South on I-95 around the 20 mile marker.  No injuries were reported.
  • 9:01 p.m. – Karen Sue Spicer was placed under arrest during a basketball game at the Ridgeland High School at 250 Jaguar Trail after shouting obscenities and approaching referees in an aggressive manner.  She was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

JANUARY 26, 2017

  • 7:43 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Boys & Girls Club at 913 Grays Highway.
  • 7:57 a.m. – A suspicious gold van was reported in the parking lot of Logan Lane Apartments at 544 South Logan Street.
  • 10:47 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted on an elderly female tenant at the Forest Motel at 10504 South Jacob Smart Boulevard after the caller was unable to get her to answer the door or telephone.  She was ultimately transported by EMS to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for evaluation and treatment.
  • 11:20 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted on an elderly male at a residence on Sisters Ferry Road.
  • 4:47 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on Old House Road in reference to a red pickup.
  • 6:29 p.m. – A red Toyota Camry and a gold Mercury Grand Marquis were involved in a collision on the roadway in front of the Vaigneur Funeral Home at 6802 Tillman Road.  No injuries were reported.

  • 8:47 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted behind the Gretsch Manufacturing Facility at 715 Grays Highway after an open line 911 call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.
  • 8:51 p.m. – A shoplifting was reported at the Gulf Station at 8250 East Main Street after a black male subject concealed a can of beer in his clothing and then left the business property without paying for it.  A warrant affidavit has been filed against Gary Edward Scott, 53 of Ridgeland SC, charging him with the offense.
  • 9:02 p.m. – A harassment complaint was filed at a residence on Owens Street in reference to a white male subject from Baytree Apartments beating on the front door of the complainant’s home.  He left the area on foot prior to Law Enforcement arrival.

JANUARY 25, 2017

  • 5:40 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 18 mile marker in reference to a red Chevy pickup.
  • 7:51 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Boys & Girls Club at 913 Grays Highway.
  • 9:21 a.m. – A suspicious white male was reported outside of a residence on Third Avenue.
  • 10:12 a.m. – A larceny was reported at the Palmetto Eye Specialists Office at 10911 North Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to a previously unreported incident from January 7th 2017 involving items being stolen from the business mailbox.
  • 12:03 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 18 mile marker in reference to a silver Pontiac Vibe.
  • 3:06 p.m. – A white Chevy Silverado pickup was stopped for speeding on Highway 462 at the Salzburg Landing intersection where driver Shalako Kelly Shepardson was found to be operating under a suspended Washington state driver’s license.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Blatchley’s Towing took possession of the vehicle.
  • 3:08 p.m. – A suspicious male was reported outside of a residence on East Adams Street.
  • 4:29 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 25 mile marker in reference to a white Kia Soul.
  • 5:55 p.m. – A logging truck and a black Lexus passenger car were involved in a collision at the intersection of South Jacob Smart Boulevard and East Adams Street.  No injuries were reported.
  • 6:59 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at the Ridgeland Baptist Church at 1448 Grays Highway after an open line 911 call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.
  • 7:47 p.m. – An assault was reported at a residence on Hagin Drive after a male subject allegedly threatened the homeowner and another family member before leaving the area in a white passenger car prior to Law Enforcement arrival.
  • 8:41 p.m. – A red Toyota Tundra pickup was stopped for a noise ordinance violation in reference to the vehicle stereo volume level in the parking lot of the El Ranchito Restaurant at 11382 North Jacob Smart Boulevard where driver Zandra Denise Alvarado-Antonio was found to be operating under a suspended South Carolina driver’s license with one previous driving under suspension conviction appearing on her record from 2015.  She was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as the vehicle was released to a licensed driver.
  • 11:43 p.m. – A disturbance was reported at the Palms Motel at 10735 South Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to a female subject possibly being held against her will.  Responding Officers located the female who was found to be at the location of her own free will.  Officers were dispatched to the same location a second time at 12:31 a.m. for an alleged assault involving some of the same individuals from the earlier incident at which time Angela Michelle Wright, 51 of Ridgeland, and Tracy Tuowana Jenkins, 44 of Hardeeville, were both placed on trespass notice and ordered to leave the area at the property owner’s request.

JANUARY 24, 2017

  • 1:23 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Kingdom Touch Ministries Church at 6714 Tillman Road.
  • 10:44 a.m. – A silver Toyota Camry was stopped for a suspended tag violation as well as having a damaged front windshield in front of the R&M Small Engine Repair Service at 11211 North Jacob Smart Boulevard where driver Ashley Nicole Wheeler was found to be operating without valid insurance coverage.  She was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as A-1 Towing took possession of the vehicle.
  • 11:46 a.m. – Two male subjects were reportedly arguing in the parking lot of Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue.
  • 11:52 a.m. – A possible burglary in progress was reported at a vacant residence on Newlin Drive after an unknown male and female were witnessed entering the home through an unlocked back door.  Responding Officers located and detained the subjects without incident and found no signs of forced entry.  Further investigation revealed that the pair had permission from the homeowner to retrieve an item previously left inside of the home.
  • 12:57 p.m. – A civil dispute regarding use of a shared vehicle was reported by a tenant at the Plantation Inn Motel at 11433 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 2:22 p.m. – A black Lexus ES350 was struck by a dark colored pickup which then left the area traveling West in front of the Ridgeland Post Office at 7554 West Main Street.  No injuries were reported.
  • 3:28 p.m. – A suspicious white male driving a gray pickup was reported outside of a residence on Third Avenue.
  • 3:40 p.m. – A harassment complaint was filed by a homeowner on Second Avenue in reference to a male subject from Baytree Apartments causing problems.
  • 3:46 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Jasper County Magistrate’s Office at 967 West Adams Street.
  • 5:35 p.m. – A harassment complaint was filed at a residence on Three Tee Circle in the North Ridge Community in reference to unwanted telephone calls.
  • 6:03 p.m. – A complaint was filed by a homeowner in reference to a suspicious telephone call from a subject fraudulently identifying themselves as a Ridgeland Police Officer alleging that a report had been filed against the complainant.
  • 7:13 p.m. – A suspicious gray vehicle was reported behind the Burger King Restaurant at 8257 East Main Street.
  • 7:18 p.m. – A gray Oldsmobile 88 was stopped for an expired registration violation in the parking lot of the Dollar General Store at 8123 East Main Street where driver Extici Andrea Matthews, 22 of Summerville SC, was found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana.  She was cited for the offenses and assigned a court date prior to leaving the area.
  • 7:54 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Jasper County Magistrate’s Office at 967 West Adams Street.
  • 8:40 p.m. – A suspicious black male was reported at Turpin Park at 901 North Logan Street.
  • 8:47 p.m. – A group of suspicious persons was reported outside of a residence on Bailey Lane.
  • 9:24 p.m. – A black Chevy Equinox was stopped for speeding 77 mph in a posted 45 mph SCDOT work zone on I-95 South around the 23 mile marker where driver Yesid Salomon Higuera-Ramirez was found to be operating without a driver’s license.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as the vehicle was released to a licensed passenger.
  • 10:36 p.m. – Hardeeville Officers and Jasper County Deputies responded to an armed robbery at the Joker Joe’s Truck Stop at 448 Independence Boulevard in Hardeeville after an armed black male reportedly stole a black Lincoln Navigator from the complainant at gunpoint while parked at a fuel pump and then fled the area in the stolen vehicle traveling North on I-95.  GPS tracking soon after placed the vehicle on Highway 17 at the Crowfield Road intersection and later at the intersection of Malphrus and North Green Streets in Ridgeland.  This case is under investigation by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office.
  • 11:42 p.m. – A noise complaint was filed at the Travelodge Motel at 8216 East Main Street in reference to a neighboring tenant’s room.

JANUARY 23, 2017

  • 1:01 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted at the Carolina Lodge Motel at 8260 East Main Street after a female subject was reportedly passed out in the parking lot area.  She was ultimately transported by EMS to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for evaluation and treatment.
  • 7:58 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Boys & Girls Club at 913 Grays Highway.
  • 11:47 a.m. – A complaint was filed at the Short Stop BP Station at 10728 South Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to subjects in a red Volvo selling cologne and perfume in the parking lot area.  The vehicle left the area prior to Law Enforcement arrival but was shortly after located at the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard by responding Officers.
  • 12:38 p.m. – A reckless driver report was filed on I-95 in reference to two white tractor trailers traveling North between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.
  • 7:10 p.m. – A white Chevy 1500 pickup and a blue Chevy Camaro were involved in a collision in the parking lot of the Daniel Defense Manufacturing Facility at 58 Firefly Drive.  No injuries were reported.
  • 7:44 p.m. – A gray Toyota Tacoma pickup and a blue Chevy Impala were involved in a collision in the parking lot of the McDonald’s Restaurant at 8548 Grahamville Road.  No injuries were reported.
  • 8:19 p.m. – An animal complaint was filed in reference to a stray dog standing in the roadway on Grays Highway at the entrance to the Oak Plantation Commons Community.
  • 10:28 p.m. – A verbal domestic dispute between a male and a female was reported at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue.

JANUARY 22, 2017

  • 12:33 a.m. – A suspicious person was reported in the parking lot of GJ’s Used Cars at 10074 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 1:47 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Short Stop BP Station at 10728 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 3:07 a.m. – A burgundy Nissan Altima was involved in a single vehicle collision on Old House Road at the Honey Hill curve after the driver lost control and struck a roadside drainage ditch.  No injuries were reported.
  • 5:14 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted on East Main Street after a 911 hang up call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.
  • 5:56 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted at Logan Lane Apartments at 544 South Logan Street after an open line 911 call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.
  • 11:10 a.m. – A domestic dispute between a male and a female was reported at a residence on Shadetree Street in the Carters Mill Estates Community.

JANUARY 21, 2017

  • 12:46 a.m. – A disturbance was reported at the Waffle House Restaurant at 8185 East Main Street after a black female left the business without paying her bill. Responding Officers located Ikea Ada-Lynn Hawkins, 30 of Seabrook SC, in the parking lot where she began shouting and cursing when asked about the incident.  She was ultimately placed on trespass notice and ordered off of the business property at Management’s request after a male subject traveling with her paid the outstanding bill.
  • 4:07 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 30 mile marker in reference to a yellow Chevy Camaro.
  • 7:43 a.m. – Two suspicious persons were reported in the parking lot of the Rite Aid Pharmacy at 8225 East Main Street.
  • 9:25 a.m. – A white Ford Taurus and a black Chevy Camaro were involved in a collision in the parking lot of the Ridgeland Coin Laundry at 10246 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.  No injuries were reported.
  • 11:28 a.m. – A larceny was reported at a residence on East Main Street after a car stereo was stolen sometime during the overnight hours of January 20th. Surveillance video is being reviewed for suspect identification and pending charges.
  • 11:30 a.m. – A child’s red & gray beach cruiser style bicycle was stolen from outside of a residence on Sailfish Circle in the Carters Mill Estates Community sometime after 11 a.m.
  • 11:44 a.m. – A black male was reportedly asking customers and passers by for money at the Travelodge Motel at 8216 East Main Street.
  • 2:27 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Exit Realty Office at 10616 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.  A second activation occurred at 2:34 p.m.
  • 2:49 p.m. – Two black sports cars were reportedly racing one another on I-95 North between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.
  • 3:27 p.m. – A disturbance was reported at the Jasper Animal Rescue Mission at 1352 Carters Mill Road after a white male subject began making threats towards an employee during a verbal dispute over a dog.
  • 4:27 p.m. – Kathy Ruth Simmons, 50 of Greenville SC, was taken into custody by Prison Officials at the Ridgeland Correctional Institution at 5 Correctional Road after being found in possession of narcotics while visiting an inmate. She was turned over to the custody of Ridgeland Police Officers for transport to the Jasper County Detention Center under charges of bringing contraband into a correctional facility.

  • 7:34 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Kingdom Touch Ministries Church at 6714 Tillman Road.
  • 7:35 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 30 mile marker in reference to a yellow tractor trailer.
  • 9:40 p.m. – A suspicious vehicle was reported at Perry’s Storage Facility at 698 West Adams Street.
  • 9:46 p.m. – A civil dispute regarding a refund between a tenant and Management was reported at the Carolina Lodge Motel at 8260 East Main Street.
  • 11:08 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Short Stop BP Station at 10728 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

JANUARY 20, 2017

  • 3:54 a.m. – A larceny was reported at the Waffle House Restaurant at 8185 East Main Street after two black females left the business after dining without paying their bill.  Surveillance footage is being reviewed for suspect identification and pending charges.
  • 4:02 a.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies in responding to Club Pluto at 8812 South Jacob Smart Boulevard after Club Security discovered a white male lying on the side of the roadway at the entrance to the business property.  Charles Garvin Ingram, 48 of Ridgeland SC, was ultimately placed under arrest by responding Deputies and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center under charges of public drunkenness.

  • 6:05 a.m. – A suspicious person report was filed by a motorist in reference to a pedestrian at the intersection of Mango Drive and South Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 9:43 a.m. – A black Dodge Ram pickup was stopped on I-95 South around the 17 mile marker after a check of the displayed North Carolina tag showed the vehicle to have no valid insurance coverage.  Driver Ilania Eveon Thornton, 21 of Jacksonville FL, was cited for the offense and assigned a court date as the vehicle was turned over to Elite Towing for removal from the area.
  • 12:28 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated personal panic alarm at the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 12:50 p.m. – A disturbance was reported at the Heavenly Shines Car Wash at 533 South Green Street after a male customer allegedly threatened an employee during a verbal dispute and then left the area.  He was later located at a neighboring business and placed on trespass notice for the Heavenly Shines property.
  • 1:34 p.m. – A brown Chevy Colorado pickup and a white Ford Ranger pickup were involved in a collision in the parking lot of the Rite Aid Pharmacy at 8225 East Main Street.  No injuries were reported.  While on scene, responding Officers were notified by Rite Aid employees of a suspected shoplifting involving three white males and requested that they be placed on trespass notice.  Charles Garvin Ingram, 48, Clayton Clark Lowther Jr., 38, and Charles Nicholas Lowther, 35, all of Ridgeland SC, were each issued notices restricting them from entering onto the business property.
  • 3:02 p.m. – A suspicious white male was reported inside of the Main Street Pharmacy at 7752 East Main Street.
  • 5:32 p.m. – A white male pedestrian with a dog was reportedly walking South by the Northbound lanes of I-95 around the 16 mile marker.
  • 5:52 p.m. – A verbal domestic dispute between a Mother and her 18 year old son was reported at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue.
  • 7:47 p.m. – Three suspicious vehicles were reported at the baseball field behind the Ridgeland Alternative School at 456 Grays Highway.
  • 9:04 p.m. – A report of 5 to 6 gunshots being fired in the Great Swamp area was filed at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue.
  • 9:20 p.m. – A 38 year old intoxicated male pedestrian was transported by EMS from Station One at 49 South Railroad Avenue to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for treatment to a cut to his arm.

JANUARY 19, 2017

  • 12:46 a.m. – A verbal domestic dispute between a complainant and their granddaughter was reported at a residence on East Wilson Street.
  • 1:05 a.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies in responding to an assault at a residence on Allen Drive after a 25 year old female was struck several times during a verbal dispute by her boyfriend who left the area prior to Law Enforcement arrival.  A warrant affidavit has been filed against Brandon Oneal Mulligan, 24 of Ridgeland, charging him with assault & battery 3rd degree.

  • 6:00 a.m. – A gold Nissan Maxima was involved in a single vehicle collision on I-95 North around the 22 mile marker after the driver lost control and struck a tree. No injuries were reported.
  • 7:03 a.m. – A theft was reported at a residence on Brandon Cove in the North Ridge Community after the homeowner discovered that items had been stolen out of their vehicle during the overnight hours. A second report was filed at 9:05 a.m. by another Brandon Cove homeowner and a third at 1:54 p.m. by a homeowner on Three Tee Circle.  Each of the vehicles involved had been left unlocked during the nighttime hours.
  • 7:48 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Boys & Girls Club at 913 Grays Highway.  A second activation occurred at 8:04 a.m. and a third at 8:41 a.m.
  • 8:51 a.m. – A black Chevy Silverado pickup and a brown Chevy S10 pickup were involved in a collision at the Short Stop BP Station at 10671 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.  No injuries were reported.
  • 9:56 a.m. – A complaint was filed at the KFC Restaurant at 8146 East Main Street in reference to an unknown person rummaging through the business dumpster during the overnight hours.
  • 3:41 p.m. – Elouise Anderson was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center in reference to an outstanding warrant issued by the Ridgeland Police Department after Officers spotted her walking in front of the Ridgeland Post Office at 7554 West Main Street.  Anderson’s charges stemmed from a November 22nd 2016 incident at the Appliance Depot Store at 7605 West Main Street where she was arrested and charged after being found intoxicated and refusing to leave the business property when ordered by Management.  She then failed to appear in Ridgeland Municipal Court on December 12th 2016 to answer to the charge where she was found guilty during a trial in absence and a warrant was issued for her arrest.
  • 7:18 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 in reference to a white tractor trailer traveling North between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.
  • 8:36 p.m. – A verbal domestic dispute between a Mother and Daughter at a residence on Colony Drive in the Bees Creek Plantation Community ended with the Daughter kicking in the front door of the home when told to leave the property.  A warrant affidavit has been filed against Audriana Deshae Maymi, 25 of Hardeeville, charging her with malicious injury to real property.

  • 10:15 p.m. – A verbal domestic dispute between two siblings was reported at a residence on South Green Street.

JANUARY 18, 2017

  • 8:54 a.m. – A suspicious vehicle was reported on McTeer Street in reference to a gray passenger car with tinted windows.
  • 9:46 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on North Green Street.
  • 10:07 a.m. – A Ford Explorer was stopped for an expired tag violation on I-95 South around the 18 mile marker where driver Rafael Feliciano was found to be operating under a suspended Florida driver’s license.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as the vehicle was released to a licensed passenger.
  • 11:23 a.m. – A loaded Glock model 27 40 caliber handgun was discovered lying by the roadside on I-95 North around the 22 mile marker by an inmate working with a RCI clean up crew.  The weapon was turned over to Ridgeland Officers for further investigation.
  • 1:28 p.m. – A gold Chevy Silverado pickup and a blue Hyundai sedan were involved in a collision in the parking lot of the Security Finance office at 8225 East Main Street.  No injuries were reported.
  • 1:54 p.m. – A possible shoplifting was reported at the Barkin’ Basement Consignment Shop at 10974 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.  The alleged stolen items were soon after located inside the store.
  • 2:59 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 24 mile marker in reference to a blue Chrysler mini van.
  • 4:04 p.m. – A civil complaint was filed by a First Avenue homeowner in reference to payments made to a landscaping company for services that are allegedly not being performed at a neighboring residence.
  • 6:18 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies in responding to a residence on Fordville Road near the Oak Hill intersection after several gunshots were fired at a male and female standing in front of their home by an unknown person in a black passenger car.  No injuries were reported.
  • 8:54 p.m. – A property damage report was filed at Perry’s Storage Facility at 34 West Adams Street after a recently repaired section of fencing was cut by an unknown person.
  • 10:37 p.m. – A fight in progress involving two females was reported at Schooners Bar & Grill at 10953 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

JANUARY 17, 2017

  • 1:02 a.m. – Ridgeland Officers traveled to the Jasper County Detention Center at 12008 North Jacob Smart Boulevard in service of an outstanding warrant against John Wesley Brown Jr. following his arrest by Jasper County Deputies during a traffic stop at the intersection of Grays Highway and Morgandollar Road. Brown’s charges stemmed from a February 8th 2016 suspicious person report at the Travelodge Motel at 8216 East Main Street where responding Officers discovered him smoking marijuana in one of the business breezeways.  He was cited for the offense and assigned a court date where he was found guilty of the charges on March 14th 2016 and placed on a time payment plan to settle the court ordered fines which he failed to comply with resulting in a warrant being issued for his arrest.
  • 8:35 a.m. – A gray Dodge Caravan was stopped for speeding on I-95 North around the 24 mile marker where driver Jaswanth Ramdeep Chamarthi was found to be operating without a driver’s license.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as the vehicle was released to a licensed passenger.
  • 10:55 a.m. – A property damage report was filed at Perry’s Storage Facility at 34 West Adams Street after a landscaping employee discovered an area of broken fencing surrounding the business property.
  • 11:48 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted in the parking lot of the Jasper County Administration Building at 358 Third Avenue in reference to 3 small children in car seats being left unattended in a green Ford Explorer.
  • 1:00 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at the Ridgeland Elementary School at 250 Jaguar Trail in reference to a report of possible abuse.
  • 4:57 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Jasper County Council on Aging at 444 Wise Street.
  • 5:14 p.m. – A theft was reported at a residence on West Adams Street after the homeowner discovered several personal items missing.
  • 6:11 p.m. – A red Chevy Camaro, a black Chevy Camaro and a silver Chevy Corvette were reportedly racing one another on East Adams Street between South Logan Street and South Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 9:10 p.m. – A harassment complaint was filed by a tenant at the Ridgeland Weekly Rentals at 67 West Woodlawn Street in reference to unwanted text messages received from an ex-girlfriend.
  • 9:33 p.m. – An intoxicated male pedestrian was reported in the parking lot of Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue.
  • 9:59 p.m. – A civil dispute was reported at the Carolina Lodge Motel at 8260 East Main Street after a former tenant/employee failed to pay back money owed to Management per an agreement they reached in December of 2016.
  • 10:33 p.m. – A noise complaint was filed at a residence on Wiley Street in reference to loud music coming from a neighboring home.
  • 11:51 p.m. – A suspicious vehicle was reported in the parking lot of the Daniel Defense Manufacturing Facility at 58 Firefly Drive in reference to a silver Toyota Tundra.

JANUARY 16, 2017

  • 5:44 a.m. – A 39 year old male tenant at the Carolina Lodge Motel at 8260 East Main Street was transported by EMS to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for treatment after being found unconscious inside of his room.
  • 9:02 a.m. – Ridgeland Officers traveled to the Jasper County Detention Center at 12008 North Jacob Smart Boulevard in service of outstanding warrants against inmate Shaiheem Lajujan Beaton.  His charges stemmed from a July 29th 2016 shoplifting incident at the Gulf Station at 8250 East Main Street where he was captured on surveillance video stealing store items on July 21st.  He was later arrested for the offense on August 4th 2016 following a brief foot pursuit at the Carolina Lodge Motel.  He was then found guilty of the charges in Ridgeland Municipal Court on August 29th and placed on a time payment plan to settle the court ordered fines which he failed to comply with resulting in a second warrant being issued for his arrest.  Beaton received additional charges on September 22nd 2016 during a traffic stop on Sycamore Drive where he was arrested and charged for driving without a license.  He was found guilty of that charge in Ridgeland Municipal Court on October 3rd 2016 and placed on a separate time payment plan which he again failed to comply with resulting in a warrant being issued for his arrest.
  • 12:30 p.m. – An abandoned tow trailer was reportedly left in the parking lot area of the Econo Lodge Motel at 511 James Taylor Drive.
  • 3:45 p.m. – A gray Nissan Versa was stopped for speeding at the intersection of North Jacob Smart Boulevard and Smith Street where driver Edward A. Reed was found to be listed as a wanted person by the Columbia SC Police Department stemming from multiple arrest warrants.  He was taken into custody and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center pending extradition to Columbia as the vehicle was released to a licensed passenger.
  • 10:44 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at a residence on Sailfish Circle in the Carters Mill Estates Community after a 911 hang up call was received by Jasper County Emergency Service.

  • 12:37 a.m. – A laptop computer was reported missing from a residence on Wiley Street but was soon after located inside of the home by the complainant.
  • 4:17 a.m. – A harassment complaint was filed at the Gulf Station at 8250 East Main Street after a customer made threatening remarks to the on duty cashier during a verbal dispute.  The suspect left the area prior to Law Enforcement arrival.
  • 9:31 a.m. – A suspicious white female was reported at the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 2:07 p.m. – A suspicious vehicle was reported in the parking lot of the Quality Inn Motel at 221 James Taylor Drive in reference to a silver Toyota.
  • 2:39 p.m. – A shoplifting was reported at the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard after a review of surveillance footage revealed a black male stealing store items just after 11:00 a.m. by concealing them in his clothing.  A warrant affidavit has been filed against Jerrod Lamar Spann, 39 of Ridgeland SC, charging him with the offense.  A second unrelated case was also reported to responding Officers while on scene in reference to footage of a female concealing items in her purse on January 9th 2017.  This footage is being reviewed for suspect identification and pending charges.

  • 4:47 p.m. – A group of suspicious juveniles was reported at the All Print Custom Tee Shop at 8120 East Main Street.
  • 5:12 p.m. – Three suspicious males were reportedly running through a wooded area bordering the Ridgeland Correctional Institution and I-95 North around the 22 mile marker.
  • 5:19 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 15 mile marker in reference to a silver Toyota.
  • 8:33 p.m. – Several suspicious vehicles were reported in the parking lot area of The Palms Motel at 10735 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

JANUARY 14, 2017

  • 3:52 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Gretsch Manufacturing Facility at 248 Grays Highway.
  • 5:07 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 in reference to a red Chevy S10 pickup traveling North between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.
  • 7:30 a.m. – A civil dispute over money was reported between two female tenants at the Carolina Lodge Motel at 8260 East Main Street.
  • 7:58 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the New Hong Kong Restaurant at 8176 East Main Street.
  • 7:58 a.m. – Amado Alonzo Gonzalez turned himself in to Investigators at the Ridgeland Police Department at 11323 North Jacob Smart Boulevard where he was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center in reference to outstanding warrant issued against him by the Ridgeland Police Department. Gonzalez’s charges stemmed from a January 7th 2017 armed robbery on Cobia Lane in the Carters Mill Estates Community where he and two co-defendants ordered a 25 year old male out of his vehicle where he was struck in the back of the head with a handgun and robbed.  Gonzalez is the third and final suspect involved in the incident with Jorvin Cisneros, 17 of Hardeeville, being arrested at the Ridgeland High School on January 9th and a 15 year old Hispanic male juvenile being arrested on January 14th.
  • 4:18 p.m. – Jon Lamar Brantley, 55 of Ridgeland SC, was served a trespass notice at his home at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue prohibiting him from entering onto the property of a private residence on Azalea Avenue at the homeowner’s request.
  • 4:20 p.m. – A Honda Accord and a Chevy Silverado pickup were involved in a collision at the intersection of Highway 17 and Smiths Crossing.  No injuries were reported.
  • 4:21 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 33 mile marker in reference to a white tractor trailer.
  • 7:33 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers traveled to the Jasper County Detention Center at 12008 North Jacob Smart Boulevard in service of an outstanding warrant against inmate Tonya Renee Benson following her arrest by Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputies stemming from an unrelated Family Court bench warrant.  Benson’s charges with the Ridgeland Police Department stemmed from an October 13th 2015 theft at the Travelodge Motel at 8216 East Main Street where a tenant discovered an undisclosed amount of cash missing from their room.  Evidence collected during the course of the investigation revealed that Benson had committed the theft while employed as a housekeeper resulting in a warrant being issued against her which was served on November 4th 2015 when she was arrested by Sheriff’s Deputies on Tillman Road.  She was later found guilty of the charges in Ridgeland Municipal Court on November 30th 2015 and placed on a time payment plan to settle the court ordered fines which she failed to comply with resulting in a second warrant being issued for her arrest.
  • 8:30 p.m. – Four suspicious males were reported at the Sunoco Station at 11965 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 9:20 p.m. – A gray Dodge Ram pickup was stopped for a defective taillight violation at the intersection of Highway 278 and Russell Street where driver Ivan Jacinto-Infante was found to be operating without a driver’s license as well as while under the influence of alcohol.  Further investigation revealed numerous open containers of beer inside of the vehicle at which time the driver as well as two passengers, Aldo Joel Citalan-Lopez & Soiber Chavez, were all placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Little T’s Towing took possession of the vehicle.
  • 9:30 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on McTeer Street.
  • 10:18 p.m. – A fight in progress was reported in the parking lot of the McDonald’s Restaurant at 8548 Grahamville Road.  All subjects involved left the area prior to Law Enforcement arrival.

JANUARY 13, 2017

  • 2:16 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted at the Forest Motel at 10504 South Jacob Smart Boulevard after a 911 hang up call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.
  • 2:36 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the New Hong Kong Restaurant at 8176 East Main Street.
  • 3:25 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North in reference to a silver Ford pickup traveling North between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.
  • 4:08 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted at the Forest Motel at 10504 South Jacob Smart Boulevard after a 911 hang up call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.
  • 7:19 a.m. – A dispute between Management and a female tenant occurred at the Quality Inn Motel at 221 James Taylor Drive after it was discovered that one of her overnight guests was prohibited from staying at the business stemming from a previous incident.
  • 8:40 a.m. – A Nissan Altima and a Ford F150 pickup were involved in a collision in the parking lot of the Burger King Restaurant at 8257 East Main Street.  No injuries were reported.
  • 8:46 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Boys & Girls Club at 913 Grays Highway.
  • 9:21 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on West Adams Street.
  • 12:19 p.m. – A 15 year old juvenile Hispanic male was placed under arrest at the Ridgeland Police Department and transported to the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice Detention Facility at 1725 Shivers Road in Columbia SC stemming from a January 7th armed robbery on Cobia Lane in the Carters Mill Estates Community. This is the second suspect of three involved in the incident with the first, Jorvin Cisneros, being arrested at the Ridgeland High School on January 9th.
  • 4:37 p.m. – Two lightbulbs were reportedly taken from security light fixtures outside of a home on Azalea Avenue.
  • 6:34 p.m. – A domestic dispute between a male and a female was reported at the Carolina Lodge Motel at 8260 East Main Street where Thomas Jefferson Wallace was ultimately placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center under a charge of domestic violence 3rd degree.
  • 10:34 p.m. – A disturbance was reported outside of a residence on Colony Drive in the Bees Creek Plantation Community after the homeowner witnessed two black males and a black female pouring a white powdery substance onto his vehicle parked in the driveway.  When confronted, all three suspects fled the area on foot.
  • 10:49 p.m. – A harassment complaint was filed by a customer at the Harvey’s Grocery Store at 8205 East Main Street.
  • 11:11 p.m. – Three gunshots were reportedly fired in the parking lot area of Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue.
  • 11:53 p.m. – A black Nissan Rogue was stopped for speeding on I-95 South around the 19 mile marker where driver Anthony Matthew Diaz was found to be operating under a suspended New York driver’s license.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as the vehicle was released to a licensed passenger.

JANUARY 12, 2017

  • 10:42 a.m. – A theft was reported at Heron Crossing Apartments at 72 Heron Crossing Drive after a USPS money order left in the Property Manager’s office was stolen by an unknown person and ultimately cashed in Atlanta GA by the same suspect listed on a January 10th money order theft at the same location. The US Postal Inspector’s Office is currently investigating this incident.
  • 2:03 p.m. – An animal complaint was filed at Turpin Park at 901 North Logan Street in reference to a pit bull reportedly tied to a swingset post.
  • 3:20 p.m. – Jon Lamar Brantley, 55 of Ridgeland SC, was placed on trespass notice for the business property of the El Cheapo Station at 11033 North Jacob Smart Boulevard at the owner’s request.
  • 10:15 p.m. – A vehicle theft was reported at a residence on East Woodlawn Street after the homeowner heard the engine of his green 1990 Chevy Blazer starting in his driveway.  He then went outside to investigate at which time he observed a male subject in the driver’s seat backing the vehicle towards the roadway.  The victim then attempted to stop the theft resulting in him being dragged several yards and ultimately knocked off of the side of the vehicle as the driver intentionally struck two trees in an effort to force the victim to let go. Responding Officers issued a local BOLO, (Be On the Lookout), for the vehicle as the victim was transported to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for treatment to injuries sustained in the incident.  At 11:20 p.m. Hardeeville Officers spotted the vehicle entering I-95 South from Highway 278 resulting in a traffic stop being initiated at the exit 5 interchange where driver Jesse Michael Morganstern was placed under arrest without incident under Hardeeville charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and no driver’s license.  He was then transported to the Jasper County Detention Center where he was served additional charges of motor vehicle theft as well as assault and battery 1st degree issued by the Ridgeland Police Department.
  • 11:43 p.m. – A suspicious white male was reported outside of the Ridgeland Therapeutic Body Works Spa at 10616 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

JANUARY 11, 2017

  • 8:51 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on Brandon Cove in the North Ridge Community.
  • 8:57 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 16 mile marker in reference to a white Ford Escape.
  • 11:05 a.m. – A wallet was reportedly stolen from a resident of Sailfish Circle in the Carters Mill Estates Community during their stay at the Carolina Lodge Motel at 8260 East Main Street on January 10th.  The item was ultimately returned by a relative of the victim who then declined pursuing charges in the matter.
  • 12:44 p.m. – A black Nissan Altima was stopped for traveling below 45 mph on I-95 North around the 22 mile marker where driver Maite Diaz-Romero was found to be in possession of 2.15 pounds of black tar heroin concealed inside of her purse. She was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as A-1 Towing took possession of the vehicle.  Federal Agents with the DEA were notified of the seizure.

  • 2:26 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on Eleanor Avenue.
  • 3:45 p.m. – A suspicious vehicle was reported at Turpin Park at 901 North Logan Street.
  • 4:30 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers traveled to the Jasper County Detention Center at 12008 North Jacob Smart Boulevard in service of an outstanding warrant against inmate Dwayne Gibbs Jr. in reference to a January 10th incident where he intentionally caused damage to a fire sprinkler head in his cell.  Gibbs has been housed at the detention center since August 6th of 2016 under charges issued by the South Carolina Highway Patrol to include possession of crack cocaine and possession of a stolen vehicle.
  • 5:08 p.m. – A guitar was stolen from the front porch of a residence on Oakridge South in the Oakridge Trailer Park Community after being dropped off by UPS prior to the homeowner returning from work.
  • 5:09 p.m. – A white male was reportedly causing a disturbance at the Family Dollar Store at 73 South Green Street by shouting and throwing change at customers and staff members.
  • 8:07 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at the Travelodge Motel at 8216 East Main Street after a suspicious 911 call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.

JANUARY 10, 2017

  • 7:36 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Boys & Girls Club at 913 Grays Highway.
  • 9:31 a.m. – Ridgeland Officers traveled to the South Carolina Department of Probation & Parole Office at 214 Second Avenue where Dornell Williams was placed under arrest without incident and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center in reference to an outstanding warrant issued against him by the Ridgeland Police Department.  Williams’ charges stemmed from a February 12th 2013 traffic stop at the I-95 North exit 21 off ramp where he was arrested and charged with driving under suspension 3rd and habitual offender as well as being listed as a wanted person by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office for an unrelated offense.  He then failed to appear in Ridgeland Municipal Court on February 25th 2013 to answer to the charge where he was found guilty during a trial in absence and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
  • 9:52 a.m. – A silver Honda was stopped for a turn signal violation in the parking lot of the Burger King Restaurant at 8257 East Main Street where passenger John Weston Bowen was found to be listed as a wanted person by the Walterboro Police Department stemming from an outstanding shoplifting warrant. He was placed under arrest and transported to Colleton County where he was turned over to Walterboro Officers for warrant service.
  • 10:18 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted on an elderly female tenant at the Ridgeland Weekly Rentals at 67 West Woodlawn Street after a relative found her to be unable to care for herself.  She was transported by EMS to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for evaluation and treatment.
  • 10:40 a.m. – A theft was reported at Heron Crossing Apartments at 72 Heron Crossing Drive after a USPS money order left in the Property Manager’s office was stolen by an unknown person sometime between December 3rd and December 5th 2016.  A tracking request later showed that it had been cashed by a subject in Atlanta GA on December 12th.  The US Postal Inspector’s Office is currently investigating this incident.
  • 12:20 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 in reference to a white Freightliner tractor trailer traveling North between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.
  • 1:14 p.m. – A suspicious vehicle was reported in the parking lot area of the Quality Inn Motel at 221 James Taylor Drive.
  • 1:35 p.m. – A possible drunk driver was reported in the parking lot of the Carquest Auto Parts Store at 11059 North Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to a white female driving a black GMC Envoy.
  • 1:47 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 21 mile marker in reference to a red tractor trailer.
  • 2:26 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies in responding to a residence on Roseland Road after a 911 hang up call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.
  • 2:42 p.m. – A silver Kia Forte was stopped for speeding on I-95 North around the 22 mile marker where driver Heather Rose Canada was found to be operating under a suspended Florida driver’s license stemming from failure to pay traffic ticket violations.  She was placed under arrest for the offense at which time she was also found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana resulting in additional charges.  She was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Hook Ups Towing took possession of the vehicle.
  • 3:04 p.m. – A property damage report was filed at the Jasper County Detention Center at 12008 North Jacob Smart Boulevard after inmate Dwayne Gibbs Jr., 19 of Yemassee SC, intentionally caused damage to a fire sprinkler head in his cell with the intention of flooding the area.  No injuries were reported.
  • 4:28 p.m. – A suspicious person riding a bicycle was reported on Fifth Avenue.
  • 5:01 p.m. – A suspicious telephone call was received by a homeowner on Fifth Avenue from a male subject identifying himself as a relative in legal trouble and requesting they send money to him.
  • 7:07 p.m. – A suspicious black male was reportedly attempting to steal cash from a newspaper machine in front of the Star Point BP Station at 11122 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 8:24 p.m. – A domestic dispute between a male and a female was reported at a residence on Smith’s Crossing.

JANUARY 9, 2017

  • 12:02 a.m. – Three black males were reportedly arguing with the on duty cashier over a receipt at the Gulf Station at 8250 East Main Street.  The subjects left the area traveling West in a gray van prior to Law Enforcement arrival.
  • 7:23 a.m. – A Hyundai Elantra and a Chevy pickup were involved in a collision in front of the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard. No injuries were reported.
  • 9:11 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Boys & Girls Club at 913 Grays Highway.
  • 10:01 a.m. – A Honda Accord was stopped for impeding traffic flow on I-95 North around the 24 mile marker where driver Jeffrey L. Hough, 34 of Jamaica NY, was found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana.  He was cited for the offense and assigned a court date prior to leaving the area.
  • 11:32 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 12 mile marker in reference to a red tractor trailer.
  • 1:24 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers and Jasper County Deputies arrested Jorvin Cisneros at the Ridgeland High School at 250 Jaguar Trail and transported him to the Jasper County Detention Center in reference to outstanding warrants issued against him by the Ridgeland Police Department.  Cisneros’ charges stemmed from a January 7th 2016 armed robbery on Cobia Lane in the Carters Mill Estates Community where he struck a male victim knocking him unconscious before stealing several personal items.  Two more male suspects remain outstanding as this case is still under investigation.
  • 6:42 p.m. – A suspicious male was reported outside of the Jasper Council on Aging at 444 Wise Street.
  • 7:05 p.m. – Ridgeland K9 Officers assisted Hardeeville Police in responding to an armed robbery at a business next to the Coastal Florist Shop at 22889 Whyte Hardee Boulevard where a male suspect armed with a handgun fired several shots inside of the business before fleeing the area on foot.  No injuries were reported.

  • 7:28 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted on a tractor trailer parked on the side of the roadway on Old House Road at the Honey Hill Curve.
  • 9:24 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies in responding to a report of numerous gunshots being fired outside of a residence on Captain Bill Road.
  • 10:00 p.m. – A property damage complaint was filed at a residence on South Logan Street after the homeowner discovered a broken bedroom window pane. 

JANUARY 8, 2017

  • 12:40 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted on an elderly female tenant at Heron Crossing Apartments at 72 Heron Crossing Drive over concerns that she may have fallen and was unable to call 911.
  • 3:41 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 18 mile marker in reference to a white tractor trailer.
  • 5:57 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers traveled to the Hampton County Detention Center at 411 Cemetery Road in Varnville SC where inmate Jonah Sheldon Lataun Brown was turned over to their custody and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center in reference to an outstanding warrant issued by the Ridgeland Police Department.  Brown’s charges stemmed from a July 6th 2016 incident at the Carolina Lodge Motel at 8260 East Main Street where he was captured on surveillance video breaking into a tenant’s unoccupied blue Jeep Cherokee and stealing an undisclosed amount of cash.
  • 9:57 p.m. – A suspicious white male was reported in the parking lot of the Dollar General Store at 8123 East Main Street.
  • 10:22 p.m. – A suspicious vehicle was reported in reference to a RV parked in a grassy area next to the Exxon Station at 8310 East Main Street.

JANUARY 7, 2017

  • 3:16 a.m. – A suspicious vehicle was reported in the parking lot of the McDonald’s Restaurant at 8548 Grahamville Road in reference to a white Toyota.
  • 1:26 p.m. – A domestic dispute between a male and a female with a child in common was reported in the parking lot of the Carolina Lodge Motel at 8260 East Main Street.  A male tenant who witnessed the incident shouted at the male suspect to stop assaulting the female at which time the suspect turned on him and shoved him to the ground before kicking him and then leaving the area in a gray passenger car.  A warrant affidavit has been filed against Edwin Marques Jenkins, 29 of Hilton Head SC, charging him with assault and battery 3rd degree against the male victim.  The female victim involved in the domestic dispute declined pursuing charges in the matter.

  • 2:04 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported in the Oakridge Trailer Park Community on North Green Street in reference to a blue Ford Taurus.
  • 2:22 p.m. – Two children were reportedly riding in the bed of a red pickup traveling South on Highway 17 from the Advance Auto Parts Store at 10424 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 2:54 p.m. – Patrol Officers spotted Michael Dwayne Riley in the passenger seat of a green Jeep in the parking lot of the Gulf Station at 8250 East Main Street where he was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center in reference to an outstanding warrant issued against him by the Ridgeland Police Department.  Riley’s charges stemmed from a May 21st 2016 theft at the same Gulf station where he was captured on surveillance video leaning over the business counter and stealing an undisclosed amount of cash after distracting the on duty cashier just after 4 a.m.
  • 5:21 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at a residence on East Main Street after a 911 hang up call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.
  • 9:07 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies after a 911 call was received by a vehicle owner in Savannah GA reporting that their 2016 blue Kia Soul had been stolen and was currently being tracked in the Mitchellville area of Ridgeland.  Responding Officers soon after located the vehicle as it turned in to the driveway of a residence on Orange Grove Road and a 12 year old black female quickly exited fleeing on foot into a nearby wooded area.  Upon approaching the vehicle a 13 year old black male was discovered lying down in the back seat in an attempt to conceal himself at which time he was detained without incident.  The female soon after exited the woodline of her own accord and surrendered to Deputies who took her into custody and transported her to the Department of Juvenile Justice Detention Facility in Columbia SC under charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest.  The vehicle was turned over to Elite Towing for removal from the area.
  • 9:09 p.m. – A domestic dispute between a male and a female was reported at the Carolina Lodge Motel at 8260 East Main Street.
  • 10:08 p.m. – A robbery was reported outside of a residence on Cobia Lane in the Carters Mill Estates Community after a 25 year old black male was ordered out of his vehicle by three males armed with handguns who then struck him in the back of the head knocking him unconscious before stealing several personal items from his pockets.  The victim was transported by EMS to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for treatment to non life threatening injuries.  A warrant affidavit has been filed against Jorvin Cisneros, 17 of Ridgeland SC, charging him with armed robbery and assault & battery 1st degree.
  • 10:42 p.m. – A tractor trailer was stopped on I-95 South around the 20 mile marker after information was received that a female subject was possibly being held against her will inside of the vehicle.  Officers soon determined that the female had voluntarily gotten into the vehicle in Charlotte NC after asking the driver for a ride to Florida.  She stated that another female had been with her but was dropped off around the 30 mile marker. Jasper County Deputies soon after located the second female who was brought to the location in order to corroborate the information received.  Both females were ultimately transported by Deputies to the exit 5 area in Hardeeville as the driver of the tractor trailer continued South.

JANUARY 6, 2017

  • 1:21 a.m. – Two suspicious persons were reported in the back seat of a gray Toyota Camry parked at the Carolina Lodge Motel at 8260 East Main Street. Officers discovered Sara Nicole Deason, 27, and William Tyler Goodwin sitting inside of the vehicle with Deason having a syringe inserted into her left arm. Both subjects were ordered out of the vehicle at where Goodwin was found to be in possession of a quantity of heroin and lysergic acid diethylamide, (LSD), at which time he was placed under arrest without incident.  A search of the vehicle revealed numerous used syringes as well as other drug paraphernalia which were collected for disposal.  Goodwin was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Deason was allowed to go back inside of her motel room after it was determined that she had no illegal substances or items in her possession.
  • 9:03 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on Grays Highway around the Hagin Drive intersection in reference to a gray Ford Focus.
  • 10:22 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted on a 16 year old male juvenile at the Ridgeland Coin Laundry at 10246 South Jacob Smart Boulevard after he reportedly began exhibiting peculiar behavior.
  • 10:57 a.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies in responding to the Siesta Motel at 10530 South Jacob Smart Boulevard after a black male juvenile fled the area on foot from Deputies attempting to serve a pick up order issued by the Jasper County Probate Office.  The subject was apprehended by pursuing Deputies without further incident.
  • 11:21 a.m. – A domestic dispute between a male and a female was reported at a residence on Brandon Cove in the North Ridge Community.  The alleged victim declined pursuing charges in the matter.
  • 11:31 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted at a residence on West Adams Street after the female homeowner was unable to get to her prescription medication.
  • 12:58 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted on a 25 year old female tenant at the Carolina Lodge Motel at 8260 East Main Street following a 911 call stating that she may have ingested a large quantity of narcotics.
  • 1:43 p.m. – A gray Ford Taurus and a gray Volvo s40 were involved in a collision at the intersection of Highway 17 and Smith’s Crossing.  No injuries were reported.
  • 5:45 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 19 mile marker in reference to a white Jeep Cherokee.
  • 8:39 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on Highway 17 in reference to a white Lexus traveling North between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.
  • 9:30 p.m. – A suspicious vehicle report was filed in reference to a blue GMC Yukon and a black Chevy Malibu behind the Ridgeland Alternative School at 456 Grays Highway.
  • 9:46 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers traveled to the Jasper County Detention Center at 12008 North Jacob Smart Boulevard in service of an outstanding warrant against inmate Rashad Antoine Perry following his arrest by Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputies on an unrelated simple possession of marijuana charge. Perry’s charges with the Ridgeland Police Department stemmed from an April 16th 2016 traffic stop where he was cited for driving under suspension.  He then failed to appear in Ridgeland Municipal Court on May 2nd 2016 to answer to the charge where he was found guilty during a trial in absence and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
  • 10:14 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on Grays Highway at the Jaguar Trail intersection.

JANUARY 5, 2017

  • 12:03 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the New Hong Kong Restaurant at 8176 East Main Street.
  • 5:59 a.m. – A domestic dispute between a male and a female was reported outside of a residence on First Avenue.
  • 6:19 a.m. – A suspicious white female was reported inside of the Waffle House Restaurant at 8185 East Main Street.
  • 8:39 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Boys & Girls Club at 913 Grays Highway.
  • 12:49 p.m. – A harassment complaint was filed at a residence on Bees Creek Road.
  • 3:07 p.m. – Officers responded to the Jasper County Detention Center at 12008 North Jacob Smart Boulevard after a female Detention Officer was reportedly assaulted by a female inmate in the sally port area on January 3rd following her arrest by Hardeeville Police under an unrelated assault & battery charge.  A warrant affidavit was then filed against Latisha Antoinette Miller under the charge of assault & battery 3rd.
  • 4:40 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 in reference to a white Chevy work truck traveling North between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.
  • 5:38 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers traveled to the Jasper County Detention Center in service of an outstanding warrant against inmate Derrice Quandre Miller following his January 4th arrest by Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputies under an unrelated unlawful carry of a handgun charge.  Miller’s charges with the Ridgeland Police Department stemmed from an October 13th 2015 traffic stop on Highway 17 North at the I-95 exit 18 interchange where he was arrested and charged after being found in possession of a quantity of marijuana.  He then failed to appear in Ridgeland Municipal Court to answer to the charge on November 16th 2015 where he was found guilty during a trial in absence and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
  • 10:11 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the New Hong Kong Restaurant at 8176 East Main Street.
  • 10:58 p.m. – Two suspicious white males were reported in the parking lot area of the McDonald’s Restaurant at 8548 Grahamville Road.

JANUARY 4, 2017

  • 1:40 a.m. – The driver of a black Acura passenger car initiated a short pursuit on I-95 North around the 23 mile marker after accelerating to 150 mph in an attempt to evade Law Enforcement stemming from a speeding violation.  The pursuing Officer made the determination to terminate the pursuit for safety reasons around the 27 mile marker as the suspect vehicle continued traveling in an aggressive manner ultimately colliding with a guard rail at the exit 28 interchange where the driver exited and fled the area on foot.  An inventory of the vehicle revealed a South Carolina state issued identification card and a cell phone as well as a quantity of crack cocaine and Xanax.  The evidence was collected as the scene of the collision was turned over to responding Highway Patrol Officers.
  • 8:15 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Physical Therapy Office at 10616 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 9:30 a.m. – A larceny was reported at a residence on Wiley Street after several vehicle motors and parts were stolen from the home after being left on the front lawn during the overnight hours.
  • 11:39 a.m. – A shoplifting was reported at Dot’s Red Dot Package Store at 159 South Green Street after a white male subject stole a bottle of vodka.  He returned the item when confronted by the business owner in the parking lot but left the area driving a silver Hyundai Sonata when told that he would have to pay for the merchandise.  Responding Officers spotted the vehicle traveling North on Highway 17 resulting in a traffic stop at the Captain Bill Road intersection.  Driver Eugene Paul Loebs was ultimately placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Webster’s Towing took possession of the vehicle.  Additionally, he was placed on trespass notice for the Dot’s Red Dot business property at Management’s request.
  • 11:55 a.m. – A suspicious black male pedestrian was reportedly harassing passers by and impeding traffic flow in front of the Ridgeland Post Office at 7554 West Main Street.
  • 12:34 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 24 mile marker in reference to a black Ford Mustang.
  • 2:24 p.m. – A theft was reported at a residence on Grays Highway after the property owner arrived to collect past due rent from the tenants on December 29th 2016 and found that they had vacated without notice, carrying with them several household appliances.
  • 3:38 p.m. – A civil dispute was reported at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue in reference to a wallet containing several pieces of personal identification being removed from the property during a vehicle repossession in November of 2016.  The items were then allegedly disposed of by Jay’s Auto Sales of Beaufort SC prior to the vehicle being sold to another buyer.
  • 3:48 p.m. – A civil dispute regarding property line markers was filed in reference to a wooded area bordering Loblolly Lane.
  • 3:51 p.m. – A Samsung cell phone was reported stolen from a residence on North Green Street by two female acquaintances of the victim.  Both suspects fled the area on foot prior to Law Enforcement arrival.  One of the females was recently prosecuted for a November 26th 2016 financial transaction card fraud case involving the same victim.
  • 4:37 p.m. – A theft was reported at the Star Point BP Station at 11122 North Jacob Smart Boulevard after a white male was witnessed stealing store items by concealing them in his clothing.  He was then confronted by Management in the parking lot but fled the area driving North on a silver moped prior to Law Enforcement arrival.   • 4:56 p.m. – A suspicious vehicle was reported in the parking lot of the Travelodge Motel at 8216 East Main Street in reference to a blue Chrysler.
  • 6:46 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers traveled to the Chatham County Detention Center at 1050 Carl Griffin Drive in Savannah GA where inmate Kingsley D. Taylor Jr. was turned over to their custody and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center in reference to outstanding warrants issued by the Ridgeland Police Department.  Taylor’s charges stemmed from a May 31st 2014 incident at Woodridge Apartments at 414 South Logan Street where he slashed all 4 tires on his ex-girlfriend’s vehicle before kicking in the door of the home and assaulting her.  He then fled the area driving a black Dodge Avenger prior to Law Enforcement arrival.
  • 8:03 p.m. – A bb gun was found inside of a recently vacated room at the Travelodge Motel at 8216 East Main Street.
  • 10:51 p.m. – A black Fiat 500 was stopped for an expired Pennsylvania tag violation on I-95 North around the 18 mile marker where driver Pallah Rebecca Brakes was found to be operating under a suspended Washington state driver’s license.  She was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as the vehicle was released to a licensed passenger.
  • 11:01 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies in responding to an activated alarm at the Ace Academy at 80 Lowcountry Drive after two open doors were discovered.  The building was searched and found to be clear of any persons prior to being secured.

JANUARY 3, 2017

  • 1:42 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Grayco Hardware and Building Supply Store at 119 Industrial Park Road.
  • 2:48 a.m. – A suspicious person was reported outside of a residence on West Main Street.
  • 4:57 a.m. – A tan Dodge Ram pickup was involved in a single vehicle collision on I-95 South around the 22 mile marker after the driver lost control and struck the center median guard wires.  No injuries were reported.
  • 11:09 a.m. – An incorrigible juvenile was reported at Heron Crossing Apartments at 72 Heron Crossing Drive in reference to a 15 year old female refusing to leave the residence for an appointment.
  • 11:56 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 33 mile marker in reference to a black Toyota pickup.
  • 12:32 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted on an elderly white male pedestrian on East Main Street after he was witnessed stumbling on the sidewalk.
  • 1:27 p.m. – An animal complaint was filed at the Travelodge Motel at 8216 East Main Street in reference to an injured seagull in the parking lot area.
  • 2:03 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 14 mile marker in reference to a white box truck.
  • 3:48 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at Saul’s Funeral Home at 618 West Adams Street.
  • 4:01 p.m. – An animal complaint was filed at the Blue Heron Nature Center at 321 Bailey Lane in reference to an injured bird.
  • 8:37 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the K&L Granite Showroom at 11742 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 9:04 p.m. – A suspicious person was reported outside of the Ridgeland Post Office at 7554 West Main Street.
  • 9:46 p.m. – A red Mercury Grand Marquis was stopped for a lane change violation on I-95 North around the 25 mile marker where driver Shannon Renee Paluchniak was found to be operating under a suspended New York driver’s license stemming from failure to pay traffic ticket violations.  She was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as the vehicle was released to a licensed passenger.
  • 11:26 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at a residence on Shadetree Street in the Carters Mill Estates Community after an open line 911 call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.

JANUARY 2, 2017

  • 12:58 a.m. – Hardeeville Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a green Ford Explorer at which time the driver accelerated in an aggressive manner in an effort to evade Law Enforcement initiating a pursuit on I-95 North reaching speeds of 100 mph.  Ridgeland Officers deployed spike strips around the 21 mile marker resulting in the two front tires of the suspect vehicle suffering disabling damage forcing the driver to stop at the exit 22 interchange.  Driver Natasha Ann Zayas, 30 of Allen Park MI, was taken into custody by pursuing Officers without further incident and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center under charges of failure to stop for blue lights, improper lane change & expired tag. The vehicle was turned over to Reed’s Towing of Hardeeville for removal from the area.

  • 3:48 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted at a residence on Sailfish Circle in the Carters Mill Estates Community after suspicious noises were heard coming from underneath the home.
  • 8:32 a.m. – A Hispanic male pedestrian was reportedly walking in the center of the roadway on East Frontage Road refusing to yield to vehicle traffic.
  • 11:53 a.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies in responding to a suspicious person reportedly living in an enclosed vehicle trailer on Bees Creek Road after being evicted from the Palms Motel at 10735 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 1:26 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 28 mile marker in reference to a silver Nissan pickup towing a U-Haul trailer.
  • 1:30 p.m. – A suspicious silver Ford Escape was reported in the parking lot of the Quality Inn Motel at 221 James Taylor Drive.
  • 3:23 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 25 mile marker in reference to a white GMC pickup.
  • 3:28 p.m. – A verbal domestic dispute regarding child custody between a male and female was reported at a residence on Grays Highway.
  • 4:01 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 10 mile marker in reference to a dark gray Ford F350 pickup.
  • 4:55 p.m. – A civil dispute between a landlord and tenant was reported at a residence on Lydia’s Lane.
  • 6:19 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on West Adams Street.
  • 6:43 p.m. – A gray Honda Pilot was stopped for speeding on I-95 North around the 25 mile marker where driver Cesar Nicolas Toribio-Belliard was found to be operating without a driver’s license.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as the vehicle was released to a licensed passenger.
  • 6:55 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted on a black female subject shouting at passers by at the Ralph Tuten Memorial park on East Main Street.
  • 7:27 p.m. – Two suspicious males in a blue vehicle were reported in the parking lot of the Sunoco Station at 11965 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 9:06 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 in reference to a red Chevy Silverado pickup with a cracked front windshield forcing several vehicles off of the roadway while traveling North between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.  Officers soon after spotted the vehicle around the 17 mile marker at which time the driver switched off the vehicle’s headlights and made an aggressive turn into the Northbound truck parking area as a traffic stop was initiated.  Driver Travis Dean Simmons was ultimately placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Blatchley’s Towing took possession of the vehicle.
  • 9:41 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted on a 61 year old female pedestrian on East Main Street at the exit 21 interchange after exhibiting signs of suspicious behavior.  The subject was ultimately transported by EMS to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for evaluation and treatment.
  • 11:39 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 22 mile marker in reference to a red passenger car.

JANUARY 1, 2017

  • 12:23 a.m. – A suspicious vehicle was reported in the parking lot of the Harvey’s Grocery Store at 8205 East Main Street.
  • 4:22 a.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies in responding to a domestic dispute at a residence on Ingram Lane.
  • 4:59 a.m. – An animal complaint was filed in reference to a pit bull at a residence on West Main Street continually barking and getting loose from it’s restraint.
  • 6:15 a.m. – A fight in progress was reported at the Waffle House Restaurant at 8185 East Main Street in reference to a group of subjects in the parking lot area. All parties involved left the area prior to Law Enforcement arrival.
  • 7:58 a.m. – A verbal domestic dispute was reported at a residence on Old Logan Street stemming from an argument over social media posts.
  • 9:03 a.m. – A male and a female were reportedly involved in a verbal domestic dispute in the parking lot of the Forest Motel at 10504 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.  Both subjects left the area prior to Law Enforcement arrival.
  • 10:02 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 30 mile marker in reference to a green BMW convertible.
  • 11:13 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 14 mile marker in reference to a white Dodge SUV.
  • 1:05 p.m. – A Toyota Avalon, a Hyundai Sonata and a GMC 1500 pickup were involved in a collision on I-95 North around the 17 mile marker.  No injuries were reported.
  • 3:11 p.m. – A complaint regarding vehicles parked at a local church was filed at a residence on North Green Street.
  • 3:44 p.m. – A passing motorist traveling I-95 picked up a small dog wandering the interstate at the exit 21 interchange.  The animal was turned over to the Jasper Animal Rescue Mission at 1352 Carters Mill Road.
  • 5:09 p.m. – A white Chevy Silverado pickup was involved in a single vehicle collision on Highway 17 around the I-95 exit 18 interchange after the driver lost control and struck a tree.  No injuries were reported.
  • 7:03 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on Highway 17 in reference to a silver Hyundai traveling North between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.
  • 9:09 p.m. – A suspicious person was reported in the parking lot of Heron Crossing Apartments at 72 Heron Crossing Drive.
  • 9:15 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at the Travelodge Motel at 8216 East Main Street after an open line 911 call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.
  • 9:42 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies in responding to GJ’s Used Cars at 10074 South Jacob Smart Boulevard after an employee was reportedly being followed by the owner of a vehicle recently repossessed from a residence on Tillman Road.
  • 11:52 p.m. – Two suspicious vehicles were reported in the parking lot area at Turpin Park at 901 North Logan Street.
