THE FOLLOWING INCIDENTS ARE AN ACCOUNT OF CALLS AND CASES RESPONDED TO BY OFFICERS OF THE RIDGELAND POLICE DEPARTMENT. THESE CASES ARE CLOSED OR CURRENTLY UNDER INVESTIGATION. AUGUST 31, 2016

  • 1:47 a.m. – A suspicious white pickup was reported at the Ridgeland Town Hall at 1 Town Square.
  • 10:05 a.m. – A harassment complaint was filed at a residence on Shadetree Street in reference to a letter received from the Father of the complainant’s children who is scheduled to be released from prison.
  • 10:19 a.m. – Steven Kelly was placed under arrest on I-95 after Patrol Officers witnessed him discarding trash while walking North on the interstate at the exit 18 interchange entrance ramp.  He was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.
  • 10:30 a.m. – A theft was reported at the Pizza Bella Restaurant at 8196 East Main Street after a routine review of surveillance footage revealed an employee stealing store items on the evening of August 11th 2016.  A warrant affidavit has been filed against Thaita Katherine Jones, 48 of Ridgeland SC, charging her with larceny.

  • 1:24 p.m. – A harassment complaint was reported at the Econo Lodge Motel at 511 James Taylor Drive in reference to unwanted text messages.
  • 2:28 p.m. – A silver Ford Fiesta was stopped for a lane change violation on I-95 North around the 21 mile marker where passenger Mary K. Gortman, 42 of Framingham MA, was found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana.  She was cited for the offense and assigned a court date prior to leaving the area.
  • 4:36 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on Honeycomb Court in the Bees Creek Plantation Community.
  • 4:40 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 in reference to a white Honda SUV.
  • 5:47 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers traveled to the Jasper County Detention Center at 12008 North Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to service of an outstanding warrant against inmate Brad Gene Kendrick following his arrest by Jasper County Deputies serving an outstanding DUI warrant.  Kendrick’s charges with the Ridgeland Police Department stemmed from an October 4th 2010 traffic stop where he was cited for driving under suspension. He then failed to appear in Ridgeland Municipal Court to answer to the charge on November 22nd 2010 where he was found guilty during a trial in absence and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
  • 7:58 p.m. – A suspicious white male was reported at the intersection of Old Logan and South Logan Street.
  • 10:44 p.m. – A suspicious Hispanic male on a bicycle was reported in the parking lot of the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 11:08 p.m. – Two suspicious white males were reported in the parking lot of the Burger King Restaurant at 8257 East Main Street.
  • 11:50 p.m. – A male subject was reportedly shouting and swearing in the parking lot of Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue.

AUGUST 30, 2016

  • 12:37 a.m. – Rashad Antoine Perry, 26 of Ridgeland SC, was spotted at the Travelodge Motel at 8216 East Main Street.  Perry is listed as a wanted person by the Ridgeland Police Department in reference to an outstanding bench warrant stemming from an April 16th 2016 traffic stop where he was cited for driving under suspension.  He then failed to appear in Ridgeland Municipal Court to answer to the charge on May 2nd where he was found guilty during a trial in absence and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

  • 1:28 a.m. – A suspicious male was reported at the intersection of West Main Street and North Railroad Avenue.
  • 2:08 a.m. – A suspicious gray Chrysler was reported in the I-95 Southbound truck parking area at the 17 mile marker.
  • 4:30 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Boys & Girls Club at 913 Grays Highway.
  • 5:50 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Rhea Contracting Office at 2071 West Frontage Road.
  • 6:04 a.m. – A white Chevy Cruz and a burgundy Nissan Altima were involved in a collision on I-95 South around the 18 mile marker.  No injuries were reported.
  • 7:18 a.m. – A report of illegal narcotics activity was filed at Heron Crossing Apartments at 72 Heron Crossing Drive.
  • 8:26 a.m. – A suspicious male was reportedly sleeping under the gazebo area at Turpin Park at 901 North Logan Street.
  • 9:38 a.m. – An animal complaint was filed at a residence on East Main Street in reference to several stray cats living underneath the home.
  • 10:18 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 in reference to a white tractor trailer traveling North between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.
  • 11:23 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on Third Avenue.
  • 11:35 a.m. – A suspicious male was reportedly stumbling in the roadway at the intersection of West Main Street and Carters Mill Road.
  • 12:59 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 18 mile marker in reference to a UPS tractor trailer.
  • 2:45 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 in reference to a green Kia traveling North between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.
  • 3:26 p.m. – A silver Ford Fusion was stopped for speeding on I-95 South around the 22 mile marker where driver Joshua Jordan Jones, 26 of Jacksonville FL, was found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana.  He was cited for the offense and assigned a court date prior to leaving the area.
  • 4:06 p.m. – A Chevy Tahoe towing a RV was involved in a single vehicle collision on I-95 South around the 18 mile marker.  The male driver was transported by EMS to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for treatment.
  • 7:44 p.m. – A civil dispute was reported at the Christ Central Mission at 11754 North Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to the Property Manager evicting two male residents.  Responding Officers found resident Levy Larkin Brown, 20 of Beaufort SC, to be listed as a wanted person by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office in reference to an outstanding General Sessions bench warrant at which point he was taken into custody and turned over to responding Deputies for transport to the Jasper County Detention Center.

  • 8:45 p.m. – A suspicious person was reported in a wooded area by the perimeter fencing at the Ridgeland Correctional Institution at 5 Correctional Road.

AUGUST 29, 2016

  • 1:16 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at Mock Electric at 446 Sisters Ferry Road.
  • 1:30 a.m. – A suspicious black male was reported at the Pizza Hut Carryout at 10856 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 1:44 a.m. – A suspicious white male and white female were reported in a wooded area on Great Swamp Road near the First Avenue intersection.
  • 3:16 a.m. – Officers transported a 44 year old Ridgeland Weekly Rentals resident from the parking lot of Heron Crossing Apartments at 80 Heron Crossing Drive to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for evaluation and treatment of his mental state.
  • 8:15 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Boys & Girls Club at 913 Grays Highway.
  • 10:02 a.m. – Officers responded to a report of a domestic dispute occurring on  the front lawn of a residence on East Main Street after an argument escalated into the male party pushing his wife into a door window glass before taking her phone and keys as she fled the area to contact Law Enforcement.  The male party then left the area prior to responding Officers’ arrival.  A warrant affidavit has been filed against Teinge Leroy Howard, 32 of Ridgeland SC, charging him with domestic violence 2nd.

  • 11:05 a.m. – A customer from the Subway Restaurant at 8234 East Main Street reported receiving a counterfeit $50 bill as change for a purchase at the business when he visited the night before.
  • 12:44 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 40 mile marker in reference to a blue tractor trailer.
  • 2:42 p.m. – Several complaints were filed at Heron Crossing Apartments at 72 Heron Crossing Drive in reference to two black males carrying a firearm in the parking lot area.  Responding Officers discovered Darick McPherson, 17, and Deevyon Jermaine Malik Smalls, 19 of Ridgeland, near a wooded area where a 22 caliber rifle was found lying on the ground concealed underneath McPherson’s discarded shirt.  A check of his information revealed him to be listed as a wanted person by the Jasper County Department of Juvenile Justice in reference to a pick up order issued by the Probate Office for a recent Family Court adjudication.  McPherson was then placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Smalls was placed on trespass notice for Heron Crossing Apartments at the Property Manager’s request.

  • 2:55 p.m. – A routine review of surveillance video at the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard revealed two separate incidents of theft involving the same suspects.  On August 25th two black females and a black male entered the store and stole several packages of steaks by concealing them underneath their clothing.  On August 27th the same subjects returned along with a third black female and stole numerous other store items by packaging them in grocery bags that they brought with them before leaving the store as if they had purchased the items.  If you have any information on the identity of the suspects pictured below please contact Lt.   • 3:41 p.m. – A trespassing complaint was filed at a vacant residence on North Green Street after the property owner discovered evidence of individuals living inside of the home.
  • 4:55 p.m. – A complaint was filed at a residence on North Green Street after the driver of a Jasper County school bus was witnessed closing the bus doors on the leg of a 5 year old male as he exited and then leaving the area.  The information was forwarded to the Jasper County Schools Transportation Office.
  • 8:44 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at the Ridgeland Alternative School gymnasium at 456 Grays Highway after two female juveniles weren’t picked up following volleyball practice.  Officers remained on scene with the girls until a relative arrived from Hardeeville and took custody of them.
  • 9:19 p.m. – Two suspicious persons were reported in the parking lot of the Ridgeland Baptist Church at 1448 Grays Highway.
  • 9:38 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted on a homeless white male subject behind the Badcock Furniture Store at 10213 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 9:59 p.m. – Two suspicious males were reported in a wooded area behind Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue.

AUGUST 28, 2016

  • 12:48 a.m. – A black Mitsubishi Montero Sport was stopped for speeding on I-95 South around the 18 mile marker where driver Guillermo Martinez-Montero was found to be operating without a driver’s license as well as displaying a North Carolina tag showing registered to a 1994 Chevy van.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Elite Towing took possession of the vehicle.
  • 2:49 a.m. – A suspicious white Dodge Ram pickup was reported in the parking lot of the McDonald’s Restaurant at 8548 Grahamville Road.
  • 3:32 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Shinetown Distillery at 857 James Taylor Drive.
  • 9:52 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on Grays Highway in reference to a light green Mercedes.
  • 11:46 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Shinetown Distillery at 857 James Taylor Drive.
  • 2:48 p.m. – A black male and female were reportedly engaged in a fight in the parking lot of the Jasper County Detention Center at 12008 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

AUGUST 27, 2016

  • 12:39 a.m. – Ridgeland Officers traveled to the Jasper County Detention Center at 12008 North Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to an outstanding warrant to be served against inmate Darelle Shacore Roberts following his arrest for driving under the influence on Morgan Dollar Road by South Carolina Highway Patrol. Roberts’ warrant stemmed from a December 20th 2015 traffic stop on I-95 North at the exit 22 interchange where he was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.  He was later found guilty of the charges in Ridgeland Municipal Court on January 4th 2016 and placed on a time payment plan to settle the court ordered fines which he failed to comply with resulting in a warrant being issued for his arrest.
  • 1:00 a.m. – A green Kia Sorento was stopped for speeding on I-95 South around the 16 mile marker where driver Francisco Garcia-Juarez was found to be operating without a driver’s license.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as the vehicle was released to a licensed passenger.
  • 1:35 a.m. – A domestic dispute between a male and a female was reported at a residence on Grays Highway after the female party attempted to strike the male before leaving the area prior to Law Enforcement arrival.  The victim declined pursuing charges in the matter.
  • 4:11 a.m. – A black Kia Optima and a red Toyota Rav4 were involved in a collision on I-95 South around the 18 mile marker.  A 1 year old female infant was transported by EMS to Savannah Memorial Hospital.
  • 7:23 a.m. – A suspicious black male was reported at the Quality Inn Motel at 221 James Taylor Drive.
  • 8:17 a.m. – A silver Nissan Sentra was stopped for speeding on I-95 North around the 23 mile marker where driver Tobora Arita was found to be displaying a suspended South Carolina tag as well as operating without a driver’s license. She was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center at Webster’s Towing took possession of the vehicle.
  • 8:41 a.m. – A complaint was filed at the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard after David Leslie Williams, 29 of Tillman SC, attempted to use a counterfeit $100 bill bearing a “For Motion Picture Use Only” stamp on the face to purchase store items.  He fled from  the scene on foot prior to Law Enforcement arrival as the bill was turned over to responding Officers.

  • 8:54 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at a vacant business at 7797 West Main Street.
  • 9:06 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Baptist Church at 1448 Grays Highway. 
  • 1:04 p.m. – A white Chevy Tahoe was reportedly struck by an unknown vehicle in the parking lot of the Main Street Pharmacy at 7752 West Main Street.
  • 1:13 p.m. – A civil complaint was filed at Scott’s Automotive at 495 South Green Street in reference to a damaged exterior wall on the business resulting from a piece of debris being thrown from underneath a tractor being used to clear a piece of property located next door.
  • 1:21 p.m. – Anthony Bernard Gibson, 44 of Ridgeland SC, was placed on trespass notice for the business property of the Rite Aid Pharmacy at 8225 East Main Street at Management’s request following several complaints of him asking customers and passers by for money in the parking lot area.

  • 1:50 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 30 mile marker in reference to a maroon SUV.
  • 3:45 p.m. – An assault was reported at the Dairy Queen Restaurant at 80 Blue Heron Drive after a verbal dispute over a refund resulted in the customer throwing items at an employee before leaving the business property prior to Law Enforcement arrival.
  • 9:08 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 in reference to a pickup towing a camper with no taillights in operation traveling North between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.
  • 10:41 p.m. – A black 2006 Acura MDX was stopped for a moving violation on I-95 South at the exit 22 off ramp where driver Robert Jerod Humphries was found to be displaying a South Carolina tag on the vehicle showing registered to a 2002 Toyota Highlander.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Scott’s Automotive took possession of the vehicle.
  • 11:12 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 33 mile marker in reference to a black Chevy Avalanche.

AUGUST 26, 2016

  • 1:43 a.m. – A domestic dispute between a male and a female was reported at a residence on North Jacob Smart Boulevard after the female allegedly caused damage to items inside the home.  The male party was advised of the eviction process through Magistrate Court.
  • 2:23 a.m. – A harassment complaint was filed at Baytree Apartments in reference to several juveniles throwing beer bottles at the complainant’s door.
  • 3:39 a.m. – A suspicious female was reported at Logan Lane Apartments at 544 South Logan Street. 
  • 10:44 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 12 mile marker in reference to a purple tractor trailer.
  • 12:00 p.m. – A harassment complaint was filed at a residence on Fifth Avenue in reference to a telephone call from a subject identifying themselves as a court official claiming that the homeowner had an outstanding judgment against them which had to be paid.  The homeowner disconnected but later called back to the number listed as an 859 area code out of Warsaw Kentucky which was answered by a subject who began shouting obscenities.
  • 1:07 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Family Dentistry Office at 10832 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 1:51 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted in the parking lot of the El Ranchito Restaurant at 11382 North Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to a report of a dog being left inside of a locked vehicle with no air circulation.
  • 2:25 p.m. – Two suspicious black males were reportedly carrying duffel bags by the fence bordering I-95 North and the Ridgeland Correctional Institution property.
  • 3:15 p.m. – A complaint was filed concerning a group of people consuming alcohol in the parking lot of the Short Stop BP Station at 10728 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 3:42 p.m. – A property damage complaint was filed at the Green Street Storage Facility at 261 South Green Street after the Property Manager discovered 4 locks having been cut during the overnight hours. 
  • 4:48 p.m. – A Ford pickup and a Nissan passenger car were involved in a collision at the intersection of Smith’s Crossing and South Logan Street.  No injuries were reported.
  • 5:38 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 21 mile marker in reference to a black pickup towing a cargo trailer.
  • 7:25 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 21 mile marker in reference to a green Ford Expedition.
  • 7:34 p.m. – Two suspicious females were reported on East Wilson Street.
  • 7:56 p.m. – A black Ford Mustang was stopped for speeding on I-95 South around the 21 mile marker where driver Tatjana Michelle Collins was found to be operating under a suspended South Carolina vehicle tag as well as having no valid insurance coverage.  Further inspection of the vehicle revealed the tires to be in a dangerous state of having little to no tread.  Collins was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as A-1 Towing took possession of the vehicle.
  • 9:48 p.m. – Officers responded to the EZ Stop IV Station at 80 Blue Heron Drive in reference to complaints of an ongoing problem with a male subject coming into the business on a nightly basis and staying in the men’s room for extended periods of time.  David Leslie Williams, 29 of Tillman SC, was placed on trespass notice for the business property without incident at Management’s request.

  • 10:52 p.m. – A suspicious person was reported at the South State Bank at 10671 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 11:05 p.m. – A domestic dispute between a male and a female was reported at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue after the male complainant found that the locks on the front door had been changed without his knowledge.

AUGUST 25, 2016

  • 12:21 a.m. – A suspicious silver Honda was reported on Highway 17 around the I-95 exit 18 interchange.
  • 12:28 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted at a residence on North Jacob Smart Boulevard after a female called 911 and then disconnected.  Responding Officers discovered a 31 year old female outside of the home standing by a damaged window.  The subject was at the location to gather personal belongings after recently moving out at which time she accidentally caused damage to the window when knocking.  The homeowner was not on scene at which time the female subject was told to leave the property and return during daylight hours.
  • 5:41 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Exxon Station at 8310 East Main Street.
  • 8:18 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 28 mile marker in reference to a white van.
  • 8:47 a.m. – A property damage complaint was filed at the Jasper County Detention Center at 12008 North Jacob Smart Boulevard after a male inmate , purposely flooded his cell and later caused damage to a fire sprinkler head.  
  • 9:30 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Boys & Girls Club at 913 Grays Highway.
  • 12:01 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at the Jasper County Mental Health Clinic at 1510 Grays Highway after a male subject reportedly made statements that he may wish to do harm to himself.
  • 12:23 p.m. – A theft was reported at the corner of West Main and Brabham Street after a black male subject reached into the complainant’s parked vehicle and stole a wallet containing several pieces of identification.
  • 1:02 p.m. – A complaint was filed at the ATV Warehouse at 8167 East Main Street after the business owner allowed Keith Brian Low, 45 of Ridgeland SC, to use a pressure washer to perform a job at a neighboring business.  Low then failed to return the equipment at the agreed upon time and failed to respond to attempts to contact him.  A warrant affidavit has been filed under the charge of breach of trust.

  • 1:22 p.m. – A green Ford F250 pickup was involved in a single vehicle collision on I-95 South around the 22 mile marker after a tire blew resulting in the driver losing control and striking the center median guard wires.  No injuries were reported.
  • 2:39 p.m. – A collision was reported in Hardeeville on I-95 North around the 4 mile marker where one of the vehicles involved, a silver Dodge Caravan, reportedly fled the scene.  Witnesses to the incident continued following the suspect vehicle relaying information to 911 Dispatchers as it continued traveling North.  Ridgeland Officers ultimately stopped the vehicle around the 23 mile marker where driver Ramon Gonzalez, 69 of Forked River NJ, was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center by responding Hardeeville Officers under the charge of leaving the scene of a collision with property damage.

  • 8:18 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers traveled to the intersection of Highway 170 and 278 where Bluffton Officers conducting a traffic stop had detained Andre Lamar Devore after discovering him to be listed as a wanted person by the Ridgeland Police Department.  He was turned over to their custody and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center  Devore’s charges stemmed from a February 14th 2016 traffic stop at the intersection of South Jacob Smart Boulevard and East Main Street where he fled the area on foot from the rear passenger seat leaving behind a quantity of marijuana, an open container of liquor and an Alprazolam tablet.  He later turned himself in at the Jasper County Detention Center on the same day at 12:27 p.m. after warrants were issued against him for the various offenses.  He was found guilty of the marijuana and open container charges in Ridgeland Municipal Court on March 14th and placed on a time payment plan to settle the court ordered fines which he failed to comply with resulting in 2 warrants being issued for his arrest.
  • 8:55 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue after a female subject called 911 but refused to provide information regarding why.
  • 8:56 p.m. – A suspicious white male was reported at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue where responding Officers found that the subject in question is being harassed by children in the complex throwing beer cans at his door and then running away.
  • 9:26 p.m. – A suspicious black male was reported in the parking lot area of the Main Street Barbecue Restaurant at 8084 East Main Street.
  • 10:09 p.m. – Four suspicious vehicles were reported at the Blue Heron Nature Center at 321 Bailey Lane.

AUGUST 24, 2016

  • 1:48 a.m. – A suspicious white male was reported at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue.
  • 11:02 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 in reference to a RV towing a passenger car traveling North between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.
  • 11:06 a.m. – A trailer reportedly left abandoned outside of a residence on Bailey Lane on August 22nd was recovered by Officers after being positively identified as belonging to the owner of the Shinetown Distillery at 857 James Taylor Drive.
  • 12:10 p.m. – Patrol Officers spotted a suspicious white Nissan Versa parked behind the Harvey’s Grocery Store at 8205 East Main Street where driver Christopher Charles Wagner began shouting and using profanity after Officers discovered him to be listed as a wanted person by Florida Authorities.  He was ultimately placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center under the charge of public disorderly conduct as J&M Towing took possession of the vehicle.  Florida Authorities confirmed the outstanding warrant but declined extradition based on a misdemeanor charge.
  • 1:06 p.m. – A complaint was filed at the Dollar General Store at 8123 East Main Street in reference to two female subjects selling products in the parking lot area. Responding Officers soon after spotted the subjects in a Jeep Cherokee outside of the Morris Center at 10782 South Jacob Smart Boulevard where they were warned of the penalties for operating within the town limits without a business license.
  • 1:27 p.m. – A report of illegal drug activity was filed at Devonwood Apartments at 137 Captain Bill Road in reference to subjects smoking marijuana inside of a black Jeep in the parking lot area.
  • 2:08 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 22 mile marker in reference to the driver of a green SUV texting while driving.
  • 2:18 p.m. – A civil dispute was reported at Heron Crossing Apartments after a tenant parked their vehicle in a grassy area behind one of the complex buildings in violation of their lease agreement.
  • 3:20 p.m. – A civil dispute was reported at the Quality Inn Motel at 221 James Taylor Drive in reference to the landscaping crew at a neighboring business cutting several shrubs belonging to the Quality Inn.
  • 4:07 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on Highway 17 around the exit 18 interchange in reference to a Honda Accord.
  • 5:11 p.m. – A Chevy Trailblazer and a Ford Ranger pickup were involved in a collision in the parking lot of the Star Point BP Station at 11122 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.  No injuries were reported.
  • 5:40 p.m. – A moped was reportedly traveling South on I-95 around the 23 mile marker.
  • 7:48 p.m. – A shoplifting was reported at the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard after a white female stole store items by concealing them underneath her clothing at approximately 2:20 p.m.  The subject later returned to the business at 4:30 p.m. returning the items under the guise of losing her receipt at which time she was issued a store gift card for their value. Surveillance video is being reviewed for suspect identification and pending charges.
  • 8:21 p.m. – A red tractor trailer was reportedly traveling South on I-95 around the 28 mile marker with no taillights in operation.
  • 9:07 p.m. – Officers conducting a driver safety checkpoint at the intersection of Sisters Ferry Road and West Adams Street discovered Jose Benito Vilchez-Zamora operating a white Mitsubishi Galant without a driver’s license.  He was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Scott’s Automotive took possession of the vehicle.
  • 9:31 p.m. – Officers conducting a driver safety checkpoint at the intersection of Sisters Ferry Road and West Adams Street observed a black Chevy Silverado approaching the area traveling North at which time driver Aledzi Toscano Gonzales parked in the roadway and exited the vehicle exchanging seats with front seat passenger Victor Bacho.  Both subjects were ultimately placed under arrest after being found to be operating without a driver’s license and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Webster’s Towing took possession of the vehicle.
  • 9:48 p.m. – A suspicious vehicle was reported at the Ridgeland Senior Center at 502 Wise Street.
  • 10:23 p.m. – Two suspicious vehicles were reported at Turpin Park at 901 North Logan Street.
  • 11:31 p.m. – A domestic dispute between a parent and their 19 year old daughter was reported at Heron Crossing Apartments at 72 Heron Crossing Drive.

AUGUST 23, 2016

  • 2:15 a.m. – A suspicious male was reported in the parking lot of the EZ Stop IV Station at 80 Blue Heron Drive.
  • 3:47 a.m. – A suspicious white van was reported at the Ridgeland Farmer’s Market at 9935 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 7:50 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on East Main Street in reference to a black Toyota passenger car.  The vehicle was soon after stopped by Ridgeland Officers on West Frontage Road where the male driver was found to be having a diabetic reaction.  He was transported by EMS to Coastal Carolina Hospital as Officers returned the vehicle to his home.
  • 8:34 a.m. – A harassment complaint was filed at the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to a verbal dispute between an employee and their ex-spouse.
  • 3:24 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers traveled to the Beaufort County Detention Center at 100 Ribaut Road in Beaufort where inmate Anthony Antonio Jerome Pope was turned over to their custody and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center in referent to an outstanding warrant issued by the Ridgeland Police Department.  Pope’s charges stemmed from a May 19th 2016 traffic stop where he was cited for driving without a license.  He was later found guilty of the charge in Ridgeland Municipal Court and placed on a time payment plan to settle the court ordered fines which he failed to comply with resulting in a warrant being issued for his arrest.
  • 4:31 p.m. – An incorrigible juvenile report was filed at a residence on Colony Drive in the Bees Creek Plantation Community.
  • 4:56 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on Highway 462 at the Old House Road intersection in reference to a gray Toyota Tacoma pickup.
  • 6:29 p.m. – A property damage complaint was filed by a customer at the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard after she discovered a small dent on the front passenger side door of her white Chevy Spark in the parking lot.
  • 6:47 p.m. – A larceny was reported at the Travelodge Motel at 8216 East Main Street after items were stolen from the complainant’s belongings in the front lobby area.  Surveillance video is being reviewed for suspect identification and pending charges.
  • 7:08 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted South Carolina Highway Patrol in responding to a collision on Rice Shire Road where Jesus Manzanarez-Santiago, 34 of Ridgeland, was ultimately placed under arrest by Highway Patrol Officers and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center under charges of driving under the influence, no driver’s license & leaving the scene of a collision.

  • 8:36 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 37 mile marker in reference to a RV towing a trailer.
  • 9:15 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies in responding to a report of a black male subject attempting to break into a residence on Orange Grove Road in the Mitchellville Community.
  • 9:18 p.m. – A customer at the Rite Aid Pharmacy at 8225 East Main Street reportedly lost a cell phone in the parking lot area while shopping earlier in the day at approximately 4:30 p.m.
  • 9:28 p.m. – A domestic dispute was reported at a residence on Three Tee Circle in the North Ridge Community.
  • 9:49 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at Turpin Park at 901 North Logan Street after a call was received in reference to a blue van possibly being in the area with a female and four children sleeping inside of it following a  domestic dispute at their home.
  • 10:33 p.m. – An animal complaint was filed in reference to a stray German Shepherd barking at employees in the parking lot of the Burger King Restaurant at 8257 East Main Street.

AUGUST 22, 2016

  • 10:07 a.m. – A suspicious black trailer was reportedly left in front of a home on Bailey Lane.
  • 10:36 a.m. – Dervon Jaceif Jones turned himself in to Officers at the Ridgeland Police Department where he was arrested and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center in reference to outstanding warrants.  Jones’ charges stemmed from a July 6th 2016 incident at the Carolina Lodge Motel at 8260 East Main Street where he and co-defendant Jonah Sheldon Lataun Brown, 17 of Ridgeland, were captured on surveillance video stealing an undisclosed amount of cash from inside of a tenant’s Jeep Cherokee in the parking lot area. Additional charges were later filed against Jones following a July 28th traffic stop at the intersection of East Main and South Logan Street where he fled from purusing Officers to the parking lot of Woodridge Apartments at 414 South Logan Street abandoning the vehicle and running North on foot towards Logan Lane Apartments.  He later called 911 attempting to report the vehicle stolen unaware that the pursuing Officer had already identified him as the driver.
  • 11:33 a.m. – A domestic dispute between a male and a female pregnant with his child was reported at Logan Lane Apartments at 544 South Logan Street after a verbal dispute during a child custody exchange in the parking lot area led to the male party punching and choking the female before stealing her cell phone and breaking it. Warrant affidavits have been filed against Keandre Hakeim Frazier, 21 of Ridgeland SC, charging him with strong arm robbery, malicious injury to property & domestic violence 2nd.

  • 2:52 p.m. – A theft was reported at the Bobops Station at 8548 Grahamville Road after a customer left the business property refusing to pay for a cup of ice.
  • 6:02 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies in responding to a domestic dispute outside of a residence on Captain Bill Road where a male was reportedly brandishing a handgun.  Jerrod Lamar Spann, 38 of Ridgeland SC, was ultimately placed on trespass notice for the property at the homeowner’s request.
  • 6:23 p.m. – A domestic dispute between a male and a female with a young child was reported at the Travelodge Motel at 8216 East Main Street where responding Officers ultimately placed Jarvae Adolphus Myers under arrest and transported him to the Jasper County Detention Center.
  • 6:46 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Palmetto Eye Specialists Office at 10911 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 9:30 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Rite Aid Pharmacy at 8225 East Main Street.
  • 10:34 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies in responding to a report of two suspicious persons inside of a residence on Malphrus Road.

  • 2:08 a.m. – A civil dispute was reported at the Econo Lodge Motel  at 511 James Taylor Drive in reference to a complaint made by a tenant to Management regarding an air conditioner.
  • 4:10 a.m. – A burglary was reported at a residence on Grays Highway after the homeowner discovered a television and several items of clothing missing from inside the home.
  • 9:26 a.m. – A larceny was reported at the Quality Inn Motel at 221 James Taylor Drive after a tenant removed several business owned items from a rented room prior to vacating on August 20th.  A warrant affidavit has been filed against Jennifer Ellen Garvin, 40 of Walterboro SC, based on the evidence and statements obtained by responding Officers.

  • 3:02 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 21 mile marker in reference to a silver Chevy sedan.
  • 3:04 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at the Southeast Pyrotechnics Warehouse at 11142 North Jacob Smart Boulevard after two 911 hang up calls were received by Jasper County Emergency Services.
  • 3:15 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 26 mile marker in reference to a red Dodge Charger.
  • 4:20 p.m. – A suspicious vehicle was reported outside of the main entry gate at the Ridgeland Correctional Institution at 5 Correctional Road.
  • 4:41 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Baptist Church at 1448 Grays Highway.
  • 7:29 p.m. – A breach of trust report was filed at the Palms Motel at 10735 South Jacob Smart Boulevard after a female tenant allegedly gave money to an unknown black male asking that he get change for her from a local business.  The subject reportedly took the money but never returned.
  • 7:43 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the McDonald’s Restaurant at 8548 Grahamville Road.
  • 9:06 p.m. – A harassment complaint was filed at a residence on Captain Bill Road in reference to threatening Facebook posts made by a relative in Beaufort County.
  • 10:38 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Bobop’s Convenience Store at 8548 Grahamville Road.

  • 1:07 a.m. – A white Honda Civic was stopped for a failure to dim headlights violation at the intersection of East Main and South Logan Street where passenger Sharez Javon Parker was found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.
  • 2:37 a.m. – A domestic dispute between a male and a female was reported at a Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue.  The male party left the property of his own accord without incident in order to calm the situation.
  • 8:19 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on Highway 17 in reference to a white Ford van traveling North through the Switzerland area.
  • 8:21 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Grayco Hardware & Building Supply Store at 119 Industrial Park Road.
  • 8:43 a.m. – Officers transported a 44 year old Ridgeland Weekly Rentals resident from Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville to Aurora Behavioral Health in Aiken SC.
  • 11:05 a.m. – A pedestrian was reportedly walking North on I-95 at the exit 22 interchange.
  • 11:53 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at a vacant business property at 7797 West Main Street.
  • 11:58 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 11 mile marker in reference to a white Honda CRV.

  • 2:22 a.m. – A black Dodge pickup was stopped for speeding on I-95 South around the 23 mile marker where driver Cesar Omar Bernal-Mata was found to be operating without a driver’s license.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as the vehicle was released to a licensed passenger.
  • 4:20 a.m. – A suspicious vehicle was reported at Turpin Park at 901 North Logan Street in reference to a silver mini van.
  • 5:10 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Family Dollar Store at 73 South Green Street.
  • 6:38 a.m. – A suspicious white male was reported at the intersection of Sisters Ferry Road and West Adams Street.
  • 7:12 a.m. – A stray pit bull puppy was reportedly wandering the area of West Frontage and Taylor Mill Road.
  • 11:44 a.m. – A suspicious black male was reported behind the Ridgeland Nursing Center at 1516 Grays Highway and again at 12:27 p.m. outside of the Mental Health Offices at 1510 Grays Highway.
  • 12:00 p.m. – A possible shoplifting incident was reported at the Dollar General Store at 8123 East Main Street.
  • 1:39 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers transported a 44 year old male Ridgeland Weekly Rentals resident from the Jasper County Mental Health Offices at 1510 Grays Highway to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for evaluation after a committal order was issued by the Jasper County Probate Office.
  • 2:20 p.m. – A moped and a Toyota pickup were involved in a collision on West Main Street around the Sisters Ferry Road intersection.  One male subject was airlifted to Savannah Memorial Hospital from the Ridgeland Airport.
  • 5:10 p.m. – A gold Chevy Equinox and a green Dodge Dakota pickup were involved in a collision in the Wendy’s Restaurant parking lot at 8480 Grahamville Road.  No injuries were reported.
  • 6:10 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 22 mile marker in reference to a white Chevy Cruz.
  • 6:38 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted in the parking lot of Harvey’s Grocery Store at 8205 East Main Street in reference to a dog being left inside of a locked vehicle.
  • 9:16 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 30 mile marker in reference to a silver tractor trailer.
  • 10:47 p.m. – Officers responded to the Gulf Station at 8250 East Main Street in reference to a trespassing complaint.  The suspect left the property prior to Law Enforcement arrival but was soon after located on Wise Street.  David Leslie Williams, 29 of Tillman SC, was then placed on trespass notice at the Store Manager’s request.

  • 11:50 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers traveled to the the Charleston County Detention Center at 3841 Leeds Avenue in North Charleston where inmate Bernard Joe Richardson was turned over to their custody and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center in reference to an outstanding warrant issued by the Ridgeland Police Department.  Richardson’s charges stemmed from a July 2nd 2016 assault at the Econo Lodge Motel at 511 James Taylor Drive where he struck a staff member in the face with a full soda can during a dispute over being told to leave the business property.

AUGUST 18, 2016

  • 2:32 a.m. – A suspicious vehicle was reported on I-95 South around the 16 mile marker in reference to an unoccupied white Nissan Versa.
  • 10:03 a.m. – An assault was reported at a residence on Bailey Lane in reference to a previously unreported incident which allegedly occurred at the Blue Heron Nature Center on August 17th around 4:30 p.m. where a 15 year old black male juvenile struck a 16 year old female in the face during a verbal dispute.  The victim then fell to the ground at which point she was kicked and her cell phone was stolen from her as the suspect fled the area on foot.  Juvenile petitions were then filed against the suspect who was later arrested at the Ridgeland Alternative School at 456 Grays Highway at approximately 2 p.m. and turned over to the custody of Jasper County Detention Center Officers to be transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice Detention Facility in Columbia SC.  
  • 10:41 a.m. – A male subject driving a black Dodge Charger with red stripes on the hood was reportedly exposing himself to other motorists while traveling South on I-95 around the 30 mile marker.
  • 11:10 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 33 mile marker in reference to a Fedex tractor trailer.
  • 12:43 p.m. – A Volkswagen EOS and a Chevy Suburban were involved in a collision on Highway 462 around the Knowles Island Road intersection.  One 59 year old female was transported by EMS to Savannah Memorial Hospital for treatment. 
  • 12:47 p.m. – A property damage complaint was filed at the Ridgeland Correctional Institution at 5 Correctional Road after an inmate operating a forklift accidentally caused damage to the roof of an enclosed trailer while offloading cargo.
  • 5:09 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 in reference to a silver Ford Focus traveling North between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.
  • 5:28 p.m. – A red Mazda Miata and a blue Toyota Scion were involved in a collision on Grahamville Road.  No injuries were reported.
  • 8:26 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 14 mile marker in reference to an older model Cadillac.
  • 10:16 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on Highway 462 at the Old House Road intersection in reference to a blue pickup.
  • 11:18 p.m. – A gray Honda Accord was stopped for an expired tag violation at the I-95 South exit 22 off ramp where a black male immediately exited the rear passenger seat carrying a black bag and fled the area on foot running into a wooded area on West Frontage Road.  The driver of the vehicle, who was recently charged on May 6th of this year with possession of a sawed off AK-47 rifle and possession of a stolen handgun, was then issued citations and assigned a court date for the expired tag violation before leaving the area.  He was later observed back on West Frontage Road at 2:30 a.m. searching the same wooded area where his passenger had earlier fled for an unknown item.

AUGUST 17, 2016

  • 8:03 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at Regions Bank at 11004 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 11:40 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Boys & Girls Club at 913 Grays Highway.
  • 12:35 p.m. – An abandoned blue bicycle was discovered in a grassy area on Beach Street.
  • 12:48 p.m. – A complaint was filed at a residence on Dolphin Drive in the Carters Mill Estates Community in reference to unknown persons allegedly going through the caller’s mailbox.
  • 1:00 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers transported a 45 year old male from Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville to Palmetto Behavioral Health Center in North Charleston SC for evaluation and treatment.
  • 1:23 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Grayco Hardware & Building Supply Store at 119 Industrial Park Road.
  • 3:22 p.m. – A white male was reportedly walking on I-95 North at the exit 22 interchange.
  • 4:18 p.m. – A burgundy tractor trailer with an unsecured load of gypsum board was reportedly traveling North on I-95 between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.
  • 7:10 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies in responding to an activated alarm at GJ’s Auto at 10074 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 7:16 p.m. – A possible domestic dispute between a male driver and female passenger was reported in reference to a gray Ford Focus traveling South on I-95 between Colleton and Jasper Counties.
  • 8:34 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at the Palms Motel at 10735 South Jacob Smart Boulevard after several open line 911 calls were received by Jasper County Emergency Services.
  • 9:20 p.m. – A harassment complaint was filed at Logan Lane Apartments at 544 South Logan Street in reference to an unwanted voicemail message.
  • 9:22 p.m. – Officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress at the Siesta Motel at 10530 South Jacob Smart Boulevard after two white males were witnessed forcing entry through the front door of a tenant’s room and removing several items which they then loaded into a black Range Rover.  Responding Officers stopped a vehicle matching the given description as it was exiting the parking lot of the Siesta where driver Dillon Ford York and passenger Howard William Graham were both ultimately placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Blatchley’s Towing took possession of the vehicle.

AUGUST 16, 2016

  • 12:10 a.m. – A black Lexus RX-350 was stopped for a moving violation on I-95 South around the 22 mile marker where driver Antoni Markus Hoke waited for the Officer to exit his vehicle and approach before shifting the vehicle back into gear and fleeing the area traveling South.  Hoke then exited the interstate at the 21 interchange where he ran through the stop sign at the bottom of the ramp colliding with a Toyota Camry traveling West on Main Street.  Hoke then exited the vehicle along with another male as well as a female carrying a baby and fled the area on foot.  A check of the identifying information displayed on the Lexus revealed it to be listed as stolen out of Virginia Beach, VA at which time responding Officers began canvassing the area.  Hoke was soon after spotted in front of the Bank of Walterboro at 8058 East Main Street where he was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Scott’s Automotive took possession of the vehicle.  A check of Hoke’s information revealed his Virginia driver’s license to currently be under a state of suspension resulting in an additional charge.  There were no injuries reported in the collision.
  • 12:47 a.m. – A suspicious male was reported at the EZ Stop IV Station at 80 Blue Heron Drive.
  • 1:49 a.m. – An assault was reported on Shadetree Street in the Carters Mill Estates Community after a 48 year old black female was allegedly attacked by a black male in the roadway.  The victim was transported by EMS to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for evaluation and treatment.  
  • 8:32 a.m. – A Ford Focus and a GMC pickup were involved in a collision in the parking lot of the McDonald’s Restaurant at 8548 Grahamville Road.  No injuries were reported.
  • 11:10 a.m. – A suspicious person was reported at the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 11:32 a.m. – Freddie Jamar Scriven turned himself in to Ridgeland Officers at the Jasper County Detention Center at 12008 North Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to 2 outstanding warrants issued by the Ridgeland Police Department. Scriven’s charges stemmed from a May 17th  2016 traffic stop at the Pizza Hut Carryout at 10856 North Jacob Smart Boulevard where he was arrested and charged with driving under suspension 3rd & simple possession of marijuana. He then failed to appear in Ridgeland Municipal Court on June 13th to answer to the charges where he was found guilty during a trial in absence and warrants were issued for his arrest.
  • 1:30 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers traveled to the Jasper County Detention Center in service of an outstanding warrant against inmate Randy Elvis Fulton who is currently being held on numerous charges since his August 9th arrest.  His most recent being in reference to an August 10th theft reported at a residence on Wise Street after the homeowner discovered a 46″ Husqvarna riding mower missing from his property.  Investigators following up on the case were recently able to obtain surveillance footage from a neighboring home which revealed Fulton stealing the mower on August 8th at approximately 8:45 a.m.
  • 1:55 p.m. – Markus Jesse Bates was placed under arrest at the Pratt Memorial Library at 451 East Wilson Street and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center in reference to an outstanding warrant issued against him by the Ridgeland Police Department.  Bates’ charges stemmed from a July 10th 2016 burglary at a home on Wiley Street where several items were stolen and later recovered at 2 separate locations.  Bates was initially to be charged with possession of stolen property; however newly retrieved information obtained by Investigators resulted in the charge being enhanced to burglary.
  • 3:28 p.m. – A trespassing complaint was filed at the Quality Inn Motel at 221 James Taylor Drive in reference to a black male causing a disturbance with staff members. The subject left the area prior to Law Enforcement arrival.
  • 5:12 p.m. – A complaint was filed by a resident at the Oakridge Trailer Park Community on North Green Street after her 6 year old daughter was ordered off of the school bus by the driver in front of a residence on Snookie Lane.  The child was soon after picked up by a second bus driver and returned to the Ridgeland Elementary School where her Mother was contacted.  Information regarding this incident was forwarded to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer.
  • 6:24 p.m. – A harassment complaint was filed by a resident at Logan Lane Apartments at 544 South Logan Street in reference to Facebook messages.
  • 6:30 p.m. – A 48 year old male pedestrian was struck by a Nissan Altima at the intersection of North Green Street and Highway 278.  He was transported by EMS to Savannah Memorial Hospital for treatment.
  • 10:41 p.m. – A suspicious white male was reported at the Ridgeland Coin Laundry at 10246 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 10:59 p.m. – A suspicious black female was reported at the EZ Stop IV Station at 80 Blue Heron Drive.

AUGUST 15, 2016

  • 9:25 a.m. – A complaint was filed at a residence on East Main Street in reference to a civil dispute over property between two ex-spouses.
  • 9:55 a.m. – A larceny was reported at the Aussie Autobody Shop at 1010 West Adams Street after employees arriving for work discovered three vehicles in the impound area having had items stolen from inside.
  • 12:28 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers traveled to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office Detective’s Annex on Carters Mill Road where Devon Dontray Dunham was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center in reference to an outstanding failure to appear bench warrant issued against him by the Ridgeland Police Department in January of 2011 as well as charges from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office of attempted murder, felon in possession of a handgun, pointing firearms at another & possession of a handgun during the commission of a violent crime.
  • 12:59 p.m. – A red moped was stopped on Bees Creek Road at the Sweet William intersection after Patrol Officers identified Clayton Clark Lowther as the operator where he was taken into custody in reference to 3 outstanding general sessions felony bench warrants issued by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office. During a search of his person incident to arrest he was found to be in possession of a quantity of crack cocaine resulting in an additional charge.  He was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as A-1 Towing took possession of his vehicle.
  • 3:49 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 14 mile marker in reference to a black Jeep.
  • 4:17 p.m. – A white male was reportedly riding a bicycle on I-95 South around the 24 mile marker.
  • 5:28 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on East Woodlawn Street.

AUGUST 14, 2016

  • 12:16 a.m. – A gray Acura MDX was stopped for speeding on I-95 North around the 23 mile marker where driver Vladimir Zaga was found to be operating without a driver’s license.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as the vehicle was released to a licensed passenger.
  • 1:10 a.m. – A small 2 door passenger car was reportedly traveling South on I-95 in the Northbound lanes of travel between Point South and Ridgeland.
  • 2:13 a.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies in responding to a trespassing complaint at Club Pluto at 8812 South Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to a patron refusing to leave the business property when ordered by staff members.  The subject left the area prior to Law Enforcement arrival.
  • 3:29 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 19 mile marker in reference to a gold Honda.
  • 8:41 a.m. – A gray Nissan Altima was stopped for speeding on I-95 South around the 19 mile marker where driver Michael Daniel Rivera was found to be operating under a suspended Florida driver’s license.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as J&M Towing took possession of the vehicle.
  • 1:04 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Boys & Girls Club at 913 Grays Highway.
  • 3:11 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the former Ridgeland Medical Center building at 1520 Grays Highway.
  • 3:26 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers traveled to the Colleton County Detention Center at 22 Klein Street in Walterboro SC where inmate Andre Vernon Graham was turned over to their custody and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center in reference to an outstanding warrant issued by the Ridgeland Police Department.  Graham’s charges stemmed from an August 25th 2015 traffic stop where he was cited for driving without a license.  He then failed to appear in Ridgeland Municipal Court on September 14th 2015 to answer to the charges where he was found guilty during a trial in absence and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
  • 9:37 p.m. – A verbal domestic dispute between a male and a female was reported at a residence on Shadetree Street in the Carters Mill Estates Community.

AUGUST 13, 2016

  • 1:42 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted on a black female pedestrian complaining of a vehicle following her in front of the Waffle House Restaurant at 8185 East Main Street as she attempted to hitchhike to Virginia Beach, VA.
  • 3:07 a.m. – A red Toyota Corolla was stopped for speeding on I-95 South around the 21 mile marker where driver Dwain Purvis was found to be operating without a driver’s license as well as being in possession of an open container of beer.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as the vehicle was released to a licensed passenger.
  • 3:38 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted at the Travelodge Motel at 8216 East Main Street after a 911 hang up call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.
  • 5:27 a.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted Deputies in the booking area of the Jasper County Detention Center after inmate Terrence David Graham, 26 of Hardeeville, became combative refusing to follow orders given by Detention Staff following his arrest by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office at the intersection of Cotton HIll and Tanglewood Road where he was found passed out inside of a black Mitsubishi Galant while in possession of an open container of alcohol with the engine running and a passenger door standing open. Graham is also listed as a wanted person by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office in reference to an outstanding failure to appear bench warrant stemming from a recent driving without a license conviction.

  • 8:23 a.m. – A blue over gray 2002 Chevy Avalanche bearing SC tag number 415-0HZ was stolen from a residence on Honeycomb Lane in the Bees Creek Plantation Community sometime after 10:00 p.m. August 12th after being left unlocked in the driveway overnight.  Surveillance video of the incident is being reviewed for suspect identification and pending charges.
  • 10:49 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted on a small child standing on the I-95 exit 18 overpass after a passing motorist contacted Emergency Services.
  • 10:56 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Exit Realty Office at 10616 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 4:22 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at the Scott’s Automotive Service Center at 495 South Green Street after an open door was discovered by Patrol Officers.
  • 4:25 p.m. – A 39 year old white male was transported by EMS to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville after he rode his bicycle into a Dodge Dakota pickup parked in front of the Sunoco Station at 11965 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 5:49 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Kingdom Touch Ministries Church at 6714 Tillman Road.
  • 7:52 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 13 mile marker in reference to a white Chevy Tracker.
  • 10:46 p.m. – A suspicious vehicle was reported on McTeer Street in reference to a passenger car driving through the area sounding the car horn numerous times.
  • 11:27 p.m. – A noise complaint was filed at a residence on McCormack Avenue in reference to loud music coming from a nearby home.
  • 11:46 p.m. – A suspicious person was reported at a residence on North Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to a female subject repeatedly knocking on the front door.

  • 2:48 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the New Hong Kong Restaurant at 8176 East Main Street.
  • 6:40 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted on a subject driving a gray Honda CRV on I-95 South parked in the truck parking area at the 17 mile marker.
  • 9:12 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Boys & Girls Club at 913 Grays Highway.
  • 12:06 p.m. – A missing person report was filed at a residence on North Jacob Smart Boulevard after the complainant’s son, Shayne Tylor Ganong, had not been seen nor heard from since Wednesday August 10th.  He is described as a 23 year old white male with dark brown hair and green eyes standing 6′ 2″ tall and weighing 185 pounds.  If you have seen Shayne or know of his whereabouts you are asked to contact Jasper County Emergency Services at 843-726-7519 or Sergeant McIntosh at 843-321-0780.   • 12:14 p.m. – A larceny was reported at the Southeast Pyrotechnics Warehouse at 11142 North Jacob Smart Boulevard after numerous items were allegedly stolen from inside of a boat left in the parking lot area from August 10th to the 12th.
  • 12:41 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at a residence on North Jacob Smart Boulevard after an open line 911 call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.
  • 2:34 p.m. – A property damage complaint was filed at the Daniel Defense Manufacturing Facility at 58 Firefly Drive after a tractor trailer struck a section of fencing.  No injuries were reported.
  • 3:57 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on Old House Road at the Sweet William intersection in reference to a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed.
  • 4:08 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County DSS Agents in removing 8 children from a home on East Main Street after an ex parte court order was issued in reference to their care and custody.
  • 4:26 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Boys & Girls Club at 913 Grays Highway.
  • 5:12 p.m. – A 22 year old black male was transported by Ridgeland Officers from Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville to Palmetto Baptist Hospital in Columbia SC for evaluation and treatment following his removal from a Jasper County Board of Disabilities home on August 11th.
  • 5:20 p.m. – A suspicious person was reported on North Green Street in reference to a black male walking to random homes displaying erratic behavior.
  • 7:15 p.m. – A suspicious vehicle was reported at a residence on Brandon Cove in the North Ridge Community in reference to a Budget rental truck left parked and unoccupied on the caller’s property.
  • 7:29 p.m. – A black Honda Prelude and a gray Nissan Versa were involved in a collision at the intersection of East Main and North Logan Street.  No injuries were reported.
  • 8:05 p.m. – A male subject in a white Chevy 4 door passenger car was reportedly asking customers and passers by for money in the parking lot of Harvey’s Grocery Store at 8205 East Main Street.
  • 8:50 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on Highway 17 North around the exit 18 interchange in reference to a white BMW passenger car.
  • 9:26 p.m. – A suspicious vehicle was reported on I-95 in reference to a Ryder truck traveling South between Colleton County and Ridgeland.
  • 9:27 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at a residence on Shadetree Street in the Carters Mill Estates Community after a 911 hang up call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.

  • 1:27 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 29 mile marker in reference to a red SUV.
  • 5:32 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Spay & Neuter Animal Clinic at 21 Getsinger Street.
  • 11:17 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 17 mile marker in reference to a blue tanker truck.
  • 11:47 a.m. – A complaint was filed at the Dairy Queen Restaurant at 80 Blue Heron Drive after a white male subject began harassing employees over a food order.  Responding Officers ultimately placed Timothy Lanton Murnane, 55 of Ridgeland, on trespass notice for the business property at Management’s request.
  • 2:24 p.m. – Officers responded to the Jasper County Board of Disabilities Home on First Avenue after a pickup order was issued by the Jasper County Probate Court in reference to a 22 year old male resident.  He was transported to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for evaluation and treatment.
  • 6:29 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on McTeer Street.
  • 6:43 p.m. – A dispute between a customer and staff was reported at the Sunoco Station at 11965 North Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to a declined debit card.
  • 7:50 p.m. – Officers responded to the Ridgeland Correctional Institution at 5 Correctional Road after staff members stopped two Savannah GA men found on the property taking photographs of the facility and surrounding landscape. Information was obtained that the individuals had no relatives or friends working or being housed at the prison and may have been on the property the night before.  The gathered information was forwarded to the Department of Homeland Security as well as the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

AUGUST 10, 2016

  • 7:09 a.m. – A silver Mercury Sable was involved in a single vehicle collision on the I-95 South exit 21 off ramp.  No injuries were reported.
  • 7:27 a.m. – A disturbance was reported at the Waffle House Restaurant at 8185 East Main Street after a dispute between two employees resulted in several family members of one coming to the business making threats and attempting to instigate a fight.
  • 7:31 a.m. – A white Ford F150 pickup and a green Chevy Blazer were involved in a collision on Augusta Avenue.  No injuries were reported.
  • 9:03 a.m. – Four dogs were reportedly running loose at the intersection of North Green and West Smith Street.
  • 10:22 a.m. – A purse containing several pieces of personal identification was reportedly taken from the Citgo Station at 107 Sycamore Drive after a customer accidentally left it in the ladies room.
  • 10:59 a.m. – A black female was reportedly asking customers and passers by for money and then cursing at them if they refused in the parking lot of the Short Stop BP Station at 10728 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 11:17 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted on a male subject found sleeping in a burgundy Toyota Camry on I-95 South around the 17 mile marker.
  • 11:39 a.m. – A previously unreported July 7th assault involving an elderly male victim was reported at a residence on First Avenue.
  • 6:05 p.m. – A disturbance was reported at the Jasper County Board of Disabilities home on First Avenue in reference to a resident causing a dispute with staff members.
  • 9:20 p.m. – A 46″ Husqvarna riding mower was reported stolen from outside of a residence on Wise Street sometime between August 8th and August 10th.
  • 9:41 p.m. – A report of illegal drug activity was filed at Heron Crossing Apartments at 209 Heron Crossing Drive.
  • 10:24 p.m. – A verbal dispute between a male and a female was reported in reference to two subjects walking on Smiths Crossing around the Rock Street intersection.
  • 11:55 p.m. – A suspicious tractor trailer was reportedly parked on the side of the roadway on I-95 South behind the Jasper County Detention Center.

AUGUST 9, 2016

  • 12:28 a.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies in responding to a residence on Rice Shire Road after a 911 hang up call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.
  • 6:19 a.m. – A Penske rental truck was reportedly traveling South on I-95 around the 18 mile marker with a blown rear tire causing sparks and debris.
  • 7:44 a.m. – Officers responded to a report of a theft at Saul’s Funeral Home at 310 West Adams Street after a landscaping employee spotted a black male entering a utility trailer in the parking lot and stealing a backpack blower and trimmer.  The male then fled on foot running towards a wooded area on McCormack Avenue where he ultimately dropped the stolen items as he was being pursued by the caller who was relaying information to 911 Operators.  The suspect then ran back to West Adams Street where he stole a bicycle from outside of a residence in order to facilitate his getaway.  Randy Elvis Fulton was quickly identified as the person who committed the theft and was last seen riding North on Jasper Street.  Officers then began canvassing the area ultimately spotting him riding a bicycle at the intersection of North Jacob Smart Boulevard and East Wilson Street carrying another grass trimmer he had just stolen from a residence on North Green Street.  A short foot pursuit ensued as Fulton refused to stop attempting to flee the area and hide behind a church on Wilson Street. He was ultimately taken into custody without further incident in the parking lot of the DSS Offices at 10908 North Jacob Smart Boulevard and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.  Fulton was charged with the August 6th theft of tools from outside of a residence on Bailey Lane as well as the August 8th theft of items from Harvey’s Grocery Store at 8205 East Main Street in addition to the events on today’s date at Saul’s Funeral Home and others.  He was recently released from prison following a 3 year sentence he received after being found guilty of the April 1st 2013 burglary of the Badcock Furniture Store at 10213 South Jacob Smart Boulevard where he was captured on surveillance video stealing a 42″ television.  He was later arrested for the offense in Jacksonville Fl and extradited back to South Carolina on March 7th 2014 to stand trial on April 14th 2014.
  • 10:38 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Cute Stuff Children’s Consignment Shop at 7772 West Main Street.
  • 11:46 a.m. – A blue tractor trailer hauling an oversize load was reportedly weaving across both lanes of travel on I-95 South around the 20 mile marker.
  • 12:29 p.m. – A suspicious black male was reported at the Quality Inn Motel at 221 James Taylor Drive.
  • 12:30 p.m. – An iPhone was stolen from the Waffle House Restaurant at 8185 East Main Street and was shortly after recovered lying by the roadside on Grays Highway.  Surveillance video revealed two juvenile suspects stealing the phone from the front counter area; however the victim declined pursuing charges in the matter.
  • 1:27 p.m. – A disturbance was reported at the Carters Mill Estates Property Manager’s office at 75 Shadetree Street stemming from a dispute with a tenant.
  • 2:57 p.m. – A white Dodge Stratus was stopped for speeding at the intersection of North Jacob Smart Boulevard and East Smith Street where driver Llanpol Rochez-Caballero was found to be operating without a driver’s license.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as A-1 Towing took possession of the vehicle.
  • 3:50 p.m. – A legally parked and unoccupied green Nissan Maxima was struck by an unknown vehicle which then left the area without reporting the collision in the parking lot Harvey’s Grocery Store at 8205 East Main Street.  Surveillance video is being reviewed for suspect identification and pending charges.  No injuries were reported.
  • 6:12 p.m. – An incorrigible juvenile was reported at a residence on Promise Way in reference to a dispute between the caller and their 16 year old son.
  • 7:11 p.m. – A domestic dispute between a male and female with a 10 year old son in common was reported at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue.  The victim declined pursuing charges in the matter.
  • 7:58 p.m. – Officers responded to reports of a black female knocking on random tenants’ door at The Palms Motel at 10735 South Jacob Smart Boulevard where Elouise Anderson, 48 of Ridgeland SC, was placed on trespass notice for the business property as well as The Siesta Motel and Ridgeland Weekly Rentals at the property owner’s request.

  • 11:29 p.m. – A suspicious white male was reported in front of the Ridgeland Baptist Church at 1448 Grays Highway.

AUGUST 8, 2016

  • 7:05 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 27 mile marker in reference to a white tractor trailer.
  • 8:23 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted on an elderly female resident at Devonwood Apartments at 137 Captain Bill Road after a caregiver was unable to get an answer at the door.
  • 3:10 p.m. – A white male was reportedly walking South on I-95 around the 23 mile marker.
  • 4:55 p.m. – A silver Jaguar passenger car was stopped for speeding on I-95 South around the 23 mile marker where driver Arthur Lee Felder was found to be operating under a suspended Georgia driver’s license.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as the vehicle was released to a licensed passenger.
  • 5:41 p.m. – Randy Elvis Fulton, 59 of Ridgeland, was captured on surveillance video stealing store items from Harvey’s Grocery Store at 8205 East Main Street. A warrant affidavit has been filed against him under a felony property crime enhancement charge.

  • 11:35 p.m. – A suspicious person was reported at the Ridgeland Coin Laundry at 10246 South Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to a white male on a moped behind the business.
  • 11:42 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies in responding to a residence on Fordville Road after suspicious noises were heard outside of the home.

AUGUST 7, 2016

  • 9:14 a.m. – Two suspicious persons were reported at The Palms Motel at 10735 South Jacob Smart Boulevard where Brittany Michaela Mack, 26 of Ridgeland SC, was ultimately placed on trespass notice for the business properties of the Palms and Siesta Motels as well as the Ridgeland Weekly Rentals at the property owner’s request.
  • 10:30 a.m. – A white 2006 Chevy Cobalt bearing South Carolina tag number LRI-760 was reported stolen after being left unlocked with the keys inside outside of a residence on Sailfish Circle in the Carters Mill Estates Community.  The theft occurred sometime between August 4th and August 7th.  Responding Officers later learned that the vehicle had been found wrecked and abandoned by a passing motorist on August 6th around 6:15 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 278 and Gillisonville Ball Park Road.
  • 10:47 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 in reference to an orange tractor trailer traveling North between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.
  • 3:12 p.m. – A silver Nissan Versa and a Ford F150 pickup were involved in a collision on I-95 South around the 24 mile marker.  No injuries were reported.
  • 3:46 p.m. – A disturbance was reported at the Jasper County Board of Disabilities at 283 First Avenue in reference to a resident causing problems with staff members.
  • 5:11 p.m. – An assault was reported at the Waffle House Restaurant at 8185 East Main Street stemming from an argument between two employees.
  • 6:16 p.m. – A child custody dispute was reported at the EZ Stop IV Station at 80 Blue Heron Drive.
  • 10:37 p.m. – A verbal dispute was reported between a male and a female in the parking lot of Harvey’s Grocery Store at 8205 East Main Street.

AUGUST 6, 2016

  • 2:36 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Star Point BP Station at 11122 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 3:21 a.m. – Ridgeland Officers traveled to the Jasper County Detention Center at 12008 North Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to service of an outstanding warrant against inmate Harry Johnson following his arrest by the Hardeeville Police Department for driving under suspension 2nd offense.  Johnson’s charges with the Ridgeland Police Department stemmed from a June 5th 2016 traffic stop where he was cited for driving under suspension 1st.  He then failed to appear in Ridgeland Municipal Court on June 27th to answer to the charge where he was found guilty during a trial in absence and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
  • 4:28 a.m. – Ridgeland Officers and South Carolina Highway Patrol conducted a driver safety checkpoint at the intersection of Bees Creek Road and the I-95 North exit 18 off ramp where a dark colored Lincoln sedan operated by Robert Sherman Kirkland Jr. ran through the area failing to stop for the Officers on scene.  A pursuit then ensued as Kirkland turned North onto Highway 17 and then pulled into the Club Pluto parking lot at 8812 South Jacob Smart Boulevard where he exited the vehicle and ran towards the rear of the business.  He was ultimately taken into custody without further incident for the reckless driving offense at which time a check of his South Carolina driver’s license revealed it to be under a state of suspension with several prior convictions for driving under suspension.  An inventory of the vehicle he was operating revealed an open bottle of vodka resulting in an additional charge as he was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.
  • 7:44 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the New Hong Kong Restaurant at 8176 East Main Street.
  • 1:55 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 14 mile marker in reference to a white Dodge Caravan.
  • 3:59 p.m. – An assault report was filed at the Dairy Queen Restaurant at 80 Blue Heron Drive in reference to threats received by an employee.
  • 5:20 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 30 mile marker in reference to a white pickup.
  • 5:57 p.m. – A silver pickup was reportedly towing a U-Haul trailer with the rear doors left open while traveling North on I-95 between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.
  • 6:18 p.m. – A black male was reportedly striking a female and a child outside of a residence on East Wilson Street.
  • 7:30 p.m. – A blue Dodge Charger and a white Nissan passenger car were reportedly racing one another on I-95 North around the 19 mile marker.
  • 8:17 p.m. – Randy Elvis Fulton, 59 of Ridgeland, was captured on surveillance video stealing items from outside of a residence on Bailey Lane.  A warrant affidavit has been filed against him under the charge of larceny.

  • 9:40 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted on a white male sitting by the roadway on West Frontage Road.
  • 11:41 p.m. – A suspicious person was reported at the Wendy’s Restaurant at 8480 Grahamville Road in reference to a Hispanic male in the drive thru lane.

AUGUST 5, 2016

  • 3:49 a.m. – Two suspicious persons were reported outside of the A-1 Towing business property at 9888 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 4:06 a.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies in responding to a trespassing complaint at a residence on Pecan Grove Lane in the Mitchellville Community after a female acquaintance of the homeowner refused to leave to property.
  • 7:06 a.m. – A child custody dispute between a male and a female was reported at a residence at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue.
  • 7:29 a.m. – Two males were reportedly involved in a fight at the Short Stop BP Station at 10728 South Jacob Smart Boulevard stemming from an August 4th altercation involving the same subjects at the same location.  The victim was found across the street at The Palms Motel where he declined pursuing charges against Aljaquan Lamont Hugue, 23 of Ridgeland, who was determined to be the aggressor in the incident.  Hugue was then placed on trespass notice for the business properties of the Short Stop BP Station, The Palms and Siesta Motels as well as The Ridgeland Weekly Rentals at the property owners request.  The victim later arrived at the Ridgeland Police Department where additional information was gathered and a warrant was issued against Hugue under the charge of assault & battery 3rd.
  • 8:58 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on North Railroad Avenue.
  • 9:17 a.m. – Officers responded to a report of three male subjects firing a handgun from a silver and black Ford F150 pickup on Shadetree Street in the Carters Mill Estates Community.  The vehicle was shortly after located outside of a residence on Sailfish Circle where three Hispanic male juveniles, aged 14, 14 & 15, were found inside of the vehicle in possession of a 25 caliber Raven Arms handgun along with spent shell casings.  All three were transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice Detention Facility in Columbia SC under the charges of minor in possession of a handgun & unlawful carry of a handgun.
  • 11:16 a.m. – A green Chevy Trailblazer and a blue Buick sedan were involved in a collision in the parking lot of the El Cheapo Station at 11033 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 1:02 p.m. – A harassment complaint was filed at the Short Stop BP Station at 10728 South Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to a black female asking customers and passers by for money and then cursing at them if they refused.
  • 1:07 p.m. – A white iPhone 5C was reported stolen from inside of an unlocked vehicle in the parking lot of Turpin Park at 901 North Logan Street.
  • 1:20 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at the Boat & RV Megastore at 401 Sycamore Drive in reference to a toddler being left alone inside of a vehicle in the parking lot.
  • 2:09 p.m. – An animal complaint was filed at the Star Point BP Station at 11122 North Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to a snake inside of the business.
  • 2:31 p.m. – A burglary was reported at The Palms Motel at 10735 South Jacob Smart Boulevard after Aljaquan Lamont Hugue forced entry into a tenant’s room where he then stole several personal items.  A warrant was issued against him under the charge of burglary which was enhanced to 1st degree due to his classification as a career criminal stemming from two previous burglary convictions.  He was later placed under arrest at 11:25 p.m. by Officers responding to a report of a suspicious male knocking on tenants’ doors at the Travelodge Motel at 8216 East Main Street and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.  Copies of the burglary warrant as well as the assault & battery warrant from this mornings incident at the Short Stop BP Station were then forwarded to the SC Department of Probation & Parole. Hugue was recently released from prison following his convictions for the February 24th 2014 burglary of a residence on Oakridge South in the Oakridge Trailer Park Community on North Green Street as well as the March 6th 2014 burglary of a residence on East Wilson Street.  He was sentenced to 4 years in prison plus 2 years of active probation on April 13th 2015.  Since his release several weeks ago the Ridgeland Police Department has been inundated with calls and complaints regarding Hugue engaging in criminal activity to include numerous attempts to enter the home he burglarized on Oakridge South to assault the 16 year old daughter of the homeowner which resulted in an emergency order of protection being issued.
  • 3:03 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 in reference to a white Ford F250 pickup traveling North between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.
  • 4:38 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on Live Oak Farm Road.
  • 5:11 p.m. – A complaint was filed at the Pizza Bella Restaurant at 8204 East Main Street in reference to a vehicle illegally parking in a handicapped designated space.
  • 6:03 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 18 mile marker in reference to a blue pickup towing a small tractor.
  • 6:57 p.m. – A shoplifting was reported at the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard after Management witnessed a male subject stealing store items by concealing them in his clothing.  Harry Lee Jones was placed under arrest by responding Officers and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.
  • 7:41 p.m. – A stray tan and white Boxer Bulldog was reportedly wandering the area of the Jaspers Porch Restaurant at 153 James Taylor Drive.
  • 11:40 p.m. – A noise complaint was filed at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue in reference to juveniles in the parking lot area.

AUGUST 4, 2016

  • 12:36 a.m. – A loitering complaint was filed at the Travelodge Motel at 8216 East Main Street in reference to a group of black males in the parking lot.
  • 1:38 a.m. – A 27 year old pregnant female was reportedly struck in the abdomen by a male subject while the two were traveling inside of a vehicle on North Jacob Smart Boulevard at the Grays Highway intersection.  The complainant declined pursuing charges in the matter.
  • 2:31 a.m. – Hardeeville Officers conducted a traffic stop on a Dodge Journey for a tail light violation in the parking lot of the Burger King Restaurant at 18770 Whyte Hardee Boulevard in Hardeeville where driver Jessie Jay Jones Jr. was found to be in possession of an open container of alcohol as well as a quantity of cocaine. A further check of his information revealed him to be listed as a wanted person by the Ridgeland Police Department in reference to court fines accrued from a June 12th 1995 local ordinance violation conviction which he failed to pay. Hardeeville Officers took Jones into custody and turned him over to Ridgeland Officers for transport to the Jasper County Detention Center.
  • 7:07 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on Highway 278 at the Morgan Dollar Road intersection in reference to a white Cadillac Escalade.
  • 7:16 a.m. – A stray dog was reportedly wandering the business property of the Quality Inn Motel at 221 James Taylor Drive.
  • 1:51 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 in reference to a maroon Ford F150 pickup traveling North between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.
  • 2:19 p.m. – A gray Chevy Impala was stopped for speeding on I-95 North around the 19 mile marker where passenger Jaydee Contreras, 27 of New York NY, was found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana.  She was cited for the offense and assigned a court date prior to leaving the area.
  • 3:21 p.m. – Patrol Officers spotted Shaiheem Lajuan Beaton, who was listed as a wanted person by the Ridgeland Police Department, in the parking lot of the Gulf Station at 8250 East Main Street where he immediately fled on foot upon seeing Law Enforcement approaching.  The pursuing Officer ultimately captured Beaton after jumping a fence bordering the Carolina Lodge Motel where he was taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.  Beaton’s charges stemmed from a July 29th 2016 report filed at the Gulf Station after routine review of surveillance video revealed him stealing store items by concealing them in his clothing on July 21st.  After arriving at the detention center he was placed on trespass notice for the business properties of the Gulf Station at 8250 East Main Street and the Exxon Station at 8310 East Main Street at Management’s request.
  • 4:19 p.m. – A black Lexus SUV and a blue Chevy Impala were involved in a collision at the intersection of Highway 17 and Smiths Crossing.  No injuries were reported.
  • 4:26 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at the Jasper Sun Newspaper Office at 138 South Railroad Avenue after a citizen found it to be unoccupied with the doors unlocked.
  • 4:33 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers transported a 22 year old male from a residence on Grays Highway to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for evaluation after statements made that he may wish to do harm to himself.
  • 5:34 p.m. – Two black males were reportedly fighting in the parking lot of the Short Stop BP Station at 10728 South Jacob Smart Boulevard ending with one of the subjects walking to the Palms Motel across the street.  The same two males were later reportedly attempting to fight again at 11:48 p.m. in the parking lot of Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue.
  • 5:43 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted on an elderly female tenant at Devonwood Apartments at 137 Captain Bill Road in reference to a power failure affecting her oxygen supply.
  • 9:16 p.m. – A heavyset black male presented a counterfeit $100 bill at the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard attempting to pay for store items.  The suspect then left the store in a burgundy over tan Chevy pickup leaving the bill behind when he became aware that Law Enforcement was being contacted.
  • 9:59 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 in reference to a tan Toyota Sequoia pickup traveling North between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.
  • 11:22 p.m. – A suspicious black male was reported between the Travelodge Motel and the Subway Restaurant at 8234 East Main Street.

AUGUST 3, 2016

  • 1:06 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Family Dentistry Office at 10832 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 8:41 a.m. – A silver Mercury SUV was stopped for a driving left of center violation on I-95 North around the 24 mile marker where driver Victor Manuel Osejo, 45 of Miami FL, was found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana.  He was cited for the offense and assigned a court date prior to leaving the area.
  • 10:05 a.m. – A complaint was filed at the Quality Inn Motel at 221 James Taylor Drive in reference to a tractor trailer parked by the roadway in front of the business property.
  • 3:32 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the H&H Furniture Store at 10706 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 7:14 p.m. – Two male subjects were reportedly arguing in front of a residence on First Avenue.
  • 7:31 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Cute Stuff Children’s Consignment Shop at 7772 West Main Street.
  • 8:58 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on East Main Street in reference to a silver Toyota passenger car.
  • 10:28 p.m. – Several gunshots were reportedly being fired in the area of Captain Bill Road.
  • 11:32 p.m. – A tenant at the Quality Inn Motel at 221 James Taylor Drive reported a suspicious event in reference to an unknown person attempting to enter their rented room.

AUGUST 2, 2016

  • 12:01 a.m. – Officers escorted a 16 year old female from a residence on Wiley Street to her home on Bailey Lane following a verbal dispute with her Mother.
  • 1:44 a.m. – Rodney Wright was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center after Officers determined him to be intoxicated while walking on Sycamore Drive.
  • 7:36 a.m. – A suspicious black male was reported on Honeycomb Lane in the Bees Creek Plantation Community.
  • 8:00 a.m. – A suspicious black male was reported at the intersection of East Main Street and North Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 9:20 a.m. – A Chevy Silverado was stopped for a driving left of center violation on I-95 North around the 25 mile marker where driver Osman Orlando Nunez-Bastillo was found to be operating under a suspended Florida driver’s license with numerous driving under suspension convictions appearing on his driving record.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Eric’s Towing took possession of the vehicle.
  • 11:03 a.m. – Officers transported a 44 year old male subject from his residence at Ridgeland Weekly Rentals at 67 West Woodlawn Street to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for evaluation after a pick up order was issued by the Jasper County Probate Office stemming from several recent reports of increasingly erratic behavior.
  • 12:02 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 14 mile marker in reference to a blue tractor trailer.
  • 2:00 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Exit Realty Office at 10616 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 3:41 p.m. – A black male driving a red Chevy Impala attempted to pass a counterfeit $100 bill at the Family Dollar Store at 73 South Green Street.  The suspect left the business property leaving the bill behind once he became aware that Law Enforcement was being contacted.
  • 6:11 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Cute Stuff Children’s Consignment Shop at 7772 West Main Street.
  • 7:42 p.m. – Gabriel Guerra was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center from the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard after being caught stealing store items by concealing them in his clothing.  While on scene responding Officers were provided with information regarding a previously unreported July 28th shoplifting involving the same suspect.  A review of the surveillance video regarding that incident resulted in an additional charge against Guerra.
  • 8:56 p.m. – A trespassing complaint was filed at the Quality Inn Motel at 221 James Taylor Drive after a male subject refused to leave the business property when ordered by staff members.  The suspect ultimately left the area on foot prior to Law Enforcement arrival.
  • 10:08 p.m. – Officers responded to a domestic dispute between a male and a female in the parking lot of the Wendy’s Restaurant at 8480 Grahamville Road after the male subject reportedly dragged the victim through the parking lot by her hair and then began striking her by their vehicle.  Royal Richard Singleton Jr. was ultimately placed under arrest for the offense and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.
  • 11:23 p.m. – Officers responded to a report of a male subject lying in the roadway at the intersection of Wood Duck Street and Dolphin Drive in the Carters Mill Estates Community where Calvin Lamar Jones was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center after Officers determined him to be intoxicated.
  • 11:37 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Short Stop BP Station at 10728 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

AUGUST 1, 2016

  • 1:04 a.m. – A suspicious male was reported at the EZ Stop IV Station at 80 Blue Heron Drive.
  • 2:46 a.m. – A suspicious person was reported in the North Ridge Community.
  • 3:43 a.m. – Two suspicious white males were reported in the parking lot area of the South State Bank at 10671 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 4:19 a.m. – A suspicious male was reported on Poli Bay Road.
  • 5:10 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 25 mile marker in reference to a blue Chevy Equinox.
  • 9:47 a.m. – Matthew Gene Hatchell and Kevon Travon Williams Jr. were both placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center from the Ridgeland Municipal Courtroom at 1 Town Square following two rule to show cause hearings presided over by Judge T. Scoggins.  Hatchell’s charges stemmed from an August 26th 2015 traffic stop at the EZ Stop IV Station at 80 Blue Heron Drive where he was arrested and charged after being found in possession of a quantity of marijuana as well as a February 6th 2016 collision on Old House Road where he was arrested and charged after losing control of the vehicle he was operating while under the influence of alcohol and striking the Honey Hill Community entrance sign. He was later found guilty of the marijuana charge in Ridgeland Municipal Court on September 14th 2015 and the DUI charge on February 29th 2016 and ordered to attend a drug and alcohol treatment program which he failed to comply with.  An initial rule to show cause hearing was then conducted on May 16th of 2016 resulting in him being sentenced to 60 days in jail and fined $1,642. He was placed on a time payment plan to settle that fine which he failed to comply with resulting in a second rule to show cause hearing being conducted on today’s date which ended with another 60 day sentence.  Kevon Williams’ charges stemmed from a December 11th 2015 incident at the Gulf Station at 8250 East Main Street where a routine review of surveillance footage revealed himself and two other black males stealing store items on December 10th. Williams was arrested for the offense on May 3rd of 2016 and later found guilty of the charge in Ridgeland Municipal Court on May 23rd where he was placed on a time payment plan to settle the court ordered fines which he failed to comply with resulting in today’s rule to show cause hearing where he received a sentence of 30 days in jail.
  • 11:28 a.m. – A report of possible illegal drug activity  was reported on Old Logan Street.
  • 3:04 p.m. – A complaint was filed in reference to a black female driving a white Ford Focus traveling North on Old House Road after she allegedly exited her vehicle carrying a baseball bat after the vehicle in front of her pulled to the side in order to allow her to pass due to her tailgating.
  • 4:48 p.m. – An assault was reported at the Ridgeland High School at 250 Jaguar Trail in reference to a dispute between classmates during marching band practice.
  • 5:04 p.m. – A domestic dispute between a male and a female was reported at a residence on East Wilson Street.
  • 6:15 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Cute Stuff Children’s Consignment Shop at 7772 West Main Street.
  • 6:17 p.m. – A collision was reported on I-95 North around the 10 mile marker involving a red International tractor trailer which allegedly struck two other vehicles and continued traveling North.  Ridgeland Officers spotted the vehicle shortly after and conducted a traffic stop around the 24 mile marker which was then turned over to South Carolina Highway Patrol to assist in their investigation of the collision.
