THE FOLLOWING INCIDENTS ARE AN ACCOUNT OF CALLS AND CASES RESPONDED TO BY OFFICERS OF THE RIDGELAND POLICE DEPARTMENT. THESE CASES ARE CLOSED OR CURRENTLY UNDER INVESTIGATION. JUNE 30, 2016

  • 2:20 a.m. – A trespassing complaint was filed at the EZ Stop IV Station at 80 Blue Heron Drive after a male subject refused to leave the business property when told by the on duty Manager.
  • 8:04 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Sunoco Station at 11965 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 8:25 a.m. – A Ford Explorer and a Toyota Camry were involved in a collision on East Main Street in front of the Rite Aid Pharmacy.  No injuries were reported.
  • 11:19 a.m. – A blue Chevy Malibu was stopped for speeding on I-95 South around the 21 mile marker where driver Audra C. Lutz, 31 of Auburn ME, was found to be in possession of a quantity of Xanax without a prescription.  The pills were seized prior to her leaving the area.
  • 1:18 p.m. – A man’s wallet was found discarded at Turpin Park at 901 North Logan Street.
  • 1:55 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted on a black female stumbling in the roadway at the intersection of Captain Bill Road and South Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 6:16 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported in reference to a white pickup traveling North on I-95 between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.
  • 7:14 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Coin Laundry at 10246 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 10:03 p.m. – A loitering complaint was filed at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue in reference to juveniles in the parking lot area.
  • 10:49 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 32 mile marker in reference to a silver tanker truck.
  • 11:21 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 29 mile marker in reference to a flatbed tractor trailer.

JUNE 29, 2016

  • 1:05 a.m. – A yellow bicycle was found abandoned on the Blue Heron Nature Trail and transported to the Ridgeland Police Department pending return to the rightful owner.
  • 1:34 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the McDonald’s Restaurant at 8548 Grahamville Road.
  • 7:39 a.m. – A reckless driver report was filed on I-95 North around the 21 mile marker in reference to a silver Nissan, a black Ford and a Maroon Chevy.
  • 8:15 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Sunoco Station at 11965 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 9:13 a.m. – A loitering complaint was filed at Devonwood Apartments at 137 Captain Bill Road in reference to subjects consuming alcohol and smoking marijuana in the parking lot area.
  • 9:29 a.m. – A suspicious black Cadillac occupied by two males was reported in the parking lot of Devonwood Apartments at 137 Captain Bill Road.
  • 10:02 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported in reference to a white GMC SUV traveling North on I-95 between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.
  • 2:09 p.m. – A silver Nissan Sentra was stopped for a speeding violation at the intersection of Highway 17 and Kato Bay Road where driver William Allan Fields was found to be operating under a suspended South Carolina driver’s license stemming from failure to pay traffic ticket violations.  An inventory of the vehicle prior to towing revealed a loaded 380 caliber handgun in the center console resulting in an additional charge after a check of Fields’ criminal history showed him to be a convicted felon prohibited from possessing a firearm.  Passenger Dewayne Jordan Jr. was placed under arrest after being found in possession of a quantity of marijuana packaged for distribution which he attempted to conceal from the arresting Officer.  Both suspects were transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as A-1 Towing took possession of the vehicle.
  • 2:18 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 27 mile marker in reference to a brown Chrysler.
  • 7:11 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported in reference to a black Ford Mustang convertible traveling North on Highway 17 between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.
  • 9:33 p.m. – A disturbance was reported at the Dollar General Store at 8123 East Main Street in reference to a dispute between a customer and staff member.

JUNE 28, 2016

  • 12:17 a.m. – An incorrigible juvenile report was filed at a residence on Forest Avenue in reference to the complainant’s 14 year old Nephew leaving the home without permission.  The child was located by responding Officers at the corner of East Adams And South Logan Street and returned home without incident.
  • 1:17 a.m. – A suspicious black female was reportedly knocking on the windows of a residence on Shadetree Street in the Carters Mill Estates community.
  • 1:19 a.m. – A large alligator was reportedly wandering a wooded area on the Blue Heron Nature Trail.
  • 1:36 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Family Medical Center at 109 South Green Street.
  • 2:25 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 16 mile marker in reference to a white pickup.
  • 6:32 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Spay & Neuter Animal Clinic at 21 Getsinger Street.
  • 9:11 a.m. – A suspicious Honda Accord was reported in front of a residence on Ike Street in the North Ridge community.
  • 10:56 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 22 mile marker in reference to a white RV.
  • 12:40 p.m. – A red Pontiac and a black BMW were involved in a collision on East Main Street in front of the Rite Aid Pharmacy.  No injuries were reported.
  • 1:17 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Jaded Curves Boutique at 7794 West Main Street.
  • 1:35 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 30 mile marker in reference to a cement mixing truck.
  • 2:05 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on Hagin Drive.
  • 2:32 p.m. – Two black males were reportedly fighting in the parking lot of the Star Point BP Station at 11122 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 2:57 p.m. – A possible domestic dispute between a male and a female inside of a white van was reported on East Wilson Street at the North Logan intersection.
  • 5:34 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 19 mile marker in reference to a white Acura.
  • 9:40 p.m. – An incorrigible juvenile report was filed at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue after the complainant’s 13 year old Granddaughter broke her curfew. 
  • 11:51 p.m. – A tractor trailer was reportedly parked in the roadway at the intersection of East Main and East Wilson Street. 
  • 11:53 p.m. – A suspicious white male was reported behind the Harvey’s Grocery Store at 8205 East Main Street.

JUNE 27, 2016

  • 5:36 a.m. – A verbal domestic dispute over a cell phone between a male and a female was reported at Heron Crossing Apartments at 163 Heron Crossing Drive.
  • 8:32 a.m. – A blue Mitsubishi Outlander was stopped for speeding on I-95 North around the 23 mile marker where driver Michelle Smith-Nelson was found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana.  She was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Hook Ups Towing took possession of the vehicle.
  • 8:43 a.m. – A property damage report was filed at the Aussie Autobody Repair Service at 1010 West Adams Street after employees discovered broken windows and body damage on two vehicles parked in the storage area of the business. Evidence collected at the scene has been submitted to the Beaufort County and SLED Forensics Laboratories for analysis and suspect identification.
  • 10:22 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted on a black male subject lying on the ground at the Dollar General Store at 8123 East Main Street.
  • 1:04 p.m. – Numerous steel tubes containing fuel and wired with electrical fuses were found abandoned in a baseball field at the Jasper County Alternative School at 9131 Grays Highway having been left there by the owner of Southeast Pyrotechnics at 11142 North Jacob Smart Boulevard Sean R. Swilpa, 49 of Ridgeland, who was hired to put on the annual Ridgeland fireworks show this past Saturday night.  After failing to start the show at the scheduled time of 9:30 p.m. the event was ultimately cancelled just after 11 p.m. and the explosive items were left behind by Southeast Pyrotechnics.  Jasper County Fire Officials contacted the State Fire Marshall and DHEC as Ridgeland Officers contacted SLED and ATF Agents who both responded to the area in order to disarm the  ordnance.
  • 1:10 p.m. – A group of juveniles were reportedly causing a disturbance at the Pratt Memorial Library at 451 East Wilson Street.
  • 7:40 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Family Medical Center at 109 South Green Street.
  • 8:52 p.m. – A group of juveniles were reportedly riding 4 wheelers around the intersection of Smiths Crossing and Wise Street.
  • 11:06 p.m. – A complaint was filed at the Gulf Station at 8250 East Main Street after a customer allegedly placed items in the microwave oven without paying.
  • 11:24 p.m. – A suspicious vehicle was reported in the parking lot of the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to a silver Volvo.
  • 11:25 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on Old House Road around the Pine Barren intersection in reference to a green Saturn.

JUNE 26, 2016

  • 1:11 a.m. – A loitering complaint was filed at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue in reference to several subjects standing around in the parking lot area.
  • 1:33 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Palmetto Eye Specialists Office at 10911 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 5:50 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted at a residence on North Jacob Smart Boulevard after a 911 call was received concerning a female inside of the home hearing voices.
  • 9:27 a.m. – A trespassing complaint was filed at The Palms Motel at 10735 South Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to a male subject being on the business property after previously being ordered to vacate.
  • 9:48 a.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies in responding to a Hispanic male on Highway 17 at the Kato Bay Road intersection who had reportedly been stopped by a black female crying and asking for help on Jasper Station Road whom he allowed inside of his vehicle.  A black male armed with a handgun then exited a wooded area approaching the complainant’s vehicle at which time he sped away in fear for his safety.  The female then exited the vehicle upon reaching the Kato Bay Road area.  The male suspect was found a short time later near Club Pluto at 8812 South Jacob Smart Boulevard where a search yielded no firearms in his possession.  Attempts to gather further information from the female were met with little to no cooperation.
  • 12:02 p.m. – A gray Mazda SUV was struck by a black pickup which then left the area without reporting the collision while traveling North on I-95 around the 17 mile marker.  No injuries were reported.
  • 1:24 p.m. – A noise complaint was filed at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue in reference to a female shouting in the parking lot.
  • 1:58 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 22 mile marker in reference to a black Honda Accord.
  • 3:02 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 38 mile marker in reference to a silver Dodge Ram pickup towing a horse trailer.
  • 3:20 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Shinetown Distillery at 857 James Taylor Drive.
  • 4:22 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 19 mile marker in reference to a blue Ford Fiesta.
  • 6:01 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted on a male driver and a female passenger inside of a silver Ford Explorer traveling West on Main Street at the Russell Street intersection after a 911 call was received stating that there appeared to be a fight occurring inside of the vehicle.  A traffic stop was conducted on Great Swamp Road where responding Jasper County Deputies ultimately placed driver William Carl Long Jr., 55 of Ridgeland SC, under arrest after determining him to be operating while under the influence of alcohol as well as passenger Nada Williams Lowther, 57 of Ridgeland SC, after finding her in possession of open containers of beer.  Both were transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

  • 6:38 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on Highway 278 in reference to a red Chevy pickup traveling East towards Ridgeland.
  • 7:08 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 22 mile marker in reference to a yellow tractor trailer.

JUNE 25, 2016

  • 12:40 a.m. – A report of loud music and gunshots being fired was filed in reference to a group of subjects in the parking lot of Heron Crossing Apartments at 72 Heron Crossing Drive.
  • 10:39 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 17 mile marker in reference to a tractor trailer.
  • 2:12 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 21 mile marker in reference to a silver Chevy Impala.
  • 4:10 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on Highway 17 at the Smiths Crossing intersection in reference to a silver Ford Transit van.
  • 4:25 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at a residence on Old Logan Street after a 911 hang up call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.
  • 4;58 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on Highway 17 around the Kato Bay intersection in reference to a green pickup.
  • 6:20 p.m. – A gold Chrysler Town & Country mini van and a silver Ford F150 pickup were involved in a collision on I-95 South at the exit 22 interchange.  No injuries were reported.

  • 7:00 p.m. – Several plants were reported stolen from the Grahamville Cemetery at the intersection of Smiths Crossing and Sycamore Drive.
  • 9:49 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 33 mile marker in reference to a white Chevy.
  • 9:56 p.m. – A U-Haul rental truck towing a black passenger car struck a section of fencing in the parking lot of the Carolina Lodge Motel at 8260 East Main Street before leaving the area without reporting the damage.
  • 10:39 p.m. – A gray Honda Accord was stopped for a failure to dim headlights violation on East Main Street at the South Logan intersection where driver Jacqueta Octavia Washington, 17 of Ridgeland SC, was found to be operating with no registration or valid insurance coverage.  She was cited for the offenses and assigned a court date prior to leaving the area as J&M Towing took possession of the vehicle.
  • 11:42 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office Detective Annex at 1460 Carters Mill Road.

JUNE 24, 2016

  • 1:01 a.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies in responding to a domestic dispute between a Father and son at a residence on Bees Creek Road with reports of the son being under the influence of narcotics while armed with a knife he was using to puncture the tires of the complainant’s vehicle.  The same subject was involved in a domestic dispute with his Mother at their residence in the Oakridge Trailer Park community on June 23rd.  Gabriel Guerra, 18 of Ridgeland SC, was ultimately placed under arrest by responding Deputies and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center under the charge of malicious injury to property.

  • 2:03 a.m. – A loitering complaint was filed at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue in reference to subjects standing around in the parking lot area.
  • 12:58 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Family Dentistry Office at 10832 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 2:43 p.m. – A white male was reportedly walking on I-95 South around the 24 mile marker.
  • 5:55 p.m. – A verbal domestic dispute between a male and a female was reported in the parking lot of the Waffle House restaurant at 8185 East Main Street where the male party, Davis Young, advised responding Officers that he was currently assigned to serve a period of incarceration on weekends at the Jasper County Detention Center stemming from a previous conviction and was supposed to have reported to the facility at 5 p.m.  Officers then followed the couple as the female drove Young to the detention center at 12008 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.  Upon being escorted into the front lobby he was found to be unsteady on his feet with a strong odor of alcohol on his breath at which time Ridgeland Officers advised him that he was under arrest under a public disorderly conduct charge.  Young then began attempting to pull away from the arresting Officer and making several threats against him resulting in two additional charges before ultimately being taken into custody without further incident and turned over to detention center staff.
  • 7:22 p.m. – A civil complaint was filed at the Burger King restaurant at 8257 East Main Street in reference to a dispute between a customer and a staff member.
  • 7:52 p.m. – Two abandoned Yorkshire Terrier puppies were found in front of the Pratt Memorial Library at 451 East Wilson Street.
  • 9:52 p.m. – Two suspicious males were reported at The Palms Motel at 10735 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 10:38 p.m. – A red Ford Mustang was stopped for speeding on I-95 South around the 20 mile marker where driver David Juan Bryant was found to be listed as a wanted person by the Dorchester County SC Sheriff’s Office in reference to an outstanding Family Court bench warrant.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Hook Ups Towing took possession of the vehicle.
  • 11:08 p.m. – A loitering complaint was filed at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue in reference to subjects standing around in the parking lot area.
  • 11:20 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South in reference to a dark colored Ford Mustang.
  • 11:46 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 15 mile marker in reference to a red pickup.
  • 11:59 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted on a disabled black Ford Crown Victoria on I-95 North around the 22 mile marker where driver Ervin Antonio Streater was found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana as well as a Kel-Tec 9mm handgun reported stolen by the Lexington County SC Sheriff’s Office.  Streater was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as A-1 Towing took possession of the vehicle.

JUNE 23, 2016

  • 6:19 a.m. – A burgundy Chevy Malibu was stopped for speeding on I-95 South around the 23 mile marker where driver Ahmed I. Alamer was found to be operating under a suspended New Jersey driver’s license.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Scott’s Automotive took possession of the vehicle.
  • 7:06 a.m. – A breach of trust report was filed at The Palms Motel at 10735 South Jacob Smart Boulevard after an elderly female tenant gave the keys to her white Ford Explorer to an unknown black male the night before in order for him to crank the engine. The complainant then awoke the following morning to find the vehicle missing from the parking lot.  As the responding Officer was gathering information Teinge Leroy Howard, 32 of Ridgeland SC, pulled into the parking lot driving the vehicle in question stating that he was in the process of purchasing it from the complainant and was replacing the brakes on the opposite side of the motel parking lot.  The vehicle was found to have suffered no damage and the keys were returned to the owner without incident.  Howard was then placed on trespass notice for the business properties of The Palms and The Siesta Motel at the Property Manager’s request.

  • 8:21 a.m. – Jacque Rennia Pierce Jr. was placed under arrest at The Palms Motel at 10735 South Jacob Smart Boulevard and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center in reference to outstanding warrants issued by the Ridgeland Police Department after Officers spotted him inside of his room through an open front door.  Pierce’s charges stemmed from a March 27th 2016 incident at the same location where, while being questioned by Officers responding to a domestic dispute, he threw a plastic pill bottle containing a quantity of crack cocaine to the ground before turning and fleeing the area on foot.
  • 8:44 a.m. – A purse and baby stroller were reportedly stolen from a tenant at The Palms Motel at 10735 South Jacob Smart Boulevard as she was in the process of moving her belongings from one room to another.
  • 8:57 a.m. – Ridgeland Officers transported a 16 year old Hispanic female juvenile from Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville to the Palmetto Behavioral Health Center in North Charleston for evaluation and treatment.
  • 1:36 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 29 mile marker in reference to a U-Haul rental truck.
  • 5:39 p.m. – A warrant affidavit has been filed against Alex Lamark Housey, 24 of Garnett SC, charging him with domestic violence 2nd degree after he repeatedly struck a female victim during a domestic dispute in the presence of their 6 month old son and 7 year old daughter at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue.  The victim was able to fend her attacker off and flee the area in her vehicle but was pursued by Housey who used his own vehicle to push her’s off of the roadway by striking it several times while driving North on Great Swamp Road.  Housey then exited his vehicle in an effort to continue the incident at which time the victim seized the opportunity to again flee the area and contact Law Enforcement.

  • 5:47 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Palmetto Veterinary Hospital at 409 South Green Street.
  • 6:37 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted on a 49 year old black female sitting behind the wheel of a white Toyota Camry with the car alarm activated at the intersection of South Jacob Smart Boulevard and East Langford Street.  She was ultimately transported by EMS to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville as Eric’s Towing took possession of the vehicle.
  • 6:45 p.m. – A black male shoplifting suspect was reported at the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 9:24 p.m. – Several gunshots were reported in the area of Captain Bill and Fordville Road.
  • 9:34 p.m. – An assault was reported at a residence on East Main Street after two males made threatening statements towards the male complainant outside of his home before leaving the area traveling West.
  • 9:49 p.m. – A civil dispute was reported at the Carolina Lodge Motel at 8260 East Main Street in reference to a tenant having a disagreement with Management over a refund.
  • 10:13 p.m. – An alleged intoxicated driver was reported on Family Circle Drive in reference to a yellow Saturn passenger car.
  • 10:45 p.m. – A domestic dispute between a female complainant and her 18 year old son was reported at a residence on Oakridge South in the Oakridge Trailer Park community at 700 North Green Street.  The male subject left the area prior to Law Enforcement arrival but returned at 11:21 p.m. and continued arguing before being taken from the area by his Father without further incident.

JUNE 22, 2016

  • 12:04 a.m. – A noise complaint was filed at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue.
  • 2:54 a.m. – A noise complaint was filed at a residence on North Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to loud music.
  • 8:23 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 18 mile marker in reference to a tractor trailer.
  • 9:50 a.m. – Lanard Rachawn Wright turned himself in to Ridgeland Officers at the Jasper County Detention Center in reference to two outstanding warrants issued against him by the Ridgeland Police Department.  Wright’s charges stemmed from a May 2nd 2016 collision that occurred on I-95 North just before 4 p.m. which resulted in the deaths of Susan Elaine Doddridge, 53, and her Father Jerry Charles Soper, 82 both of Yorktown VA. Both victims were inside of their silver 2009 Chevy Malibu waiting for stopped traffic to begin moving stemming from inclement weather when their vehicle, as well as a black Toyota Venza, were struck from behind by a 2013 Volvo tractor trailer being operated by Lanard Wright.  Susan Doddridge was transported to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville where she was pronounced dead upon her arrival as her Father Jerry Soper was taken to Savannah Memorial Hospital where he too succumbed to his injuries.  His wife, who was a third passenger inside of the Malibu, remains hospitalized in grave condition.  Evidence gathered at the scene as well as that collected from Wright’s onboard data recorder or “black box” by the South Carolina Highway Patrol Multi-disciplinary Accident Investigation Team was presented to the 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office resulting in warrants being issued for his, (Wright’s), arrest under two counts of reckless vehicular homicide.
  • 12:28 p.m. – An assault was reported at the Boat & RV Megastore at 401 Sycamore Drive after a male customer became irate over the time it was taking to have service performed on an RV prompting him to make a threatening statement towards an employee.  The suspect left the area prior to Law Enforcement arrival.
  • 12:36 p.m. – A gray Toyota Tundra pickup and a white Subaru Outback were involved in a collision in the drive thru lane at the Wendy’s Restaurant at 8480 Grahamville Road.  No injuries were reported. 
  • 1:47 p.m. – A suspicious vehicle was reported at Ken’s Tire Service at 10464 South Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to a yellow Saturn.
  • 3:08 p.m. – A male subject was reportedly riding a bicycle on I-95 North around the exit 21 interchange.
  • 3:39 p.m. – A verbal domestic dispute between a male and a female was reported at the Plantation Inn Motel at 11433 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 8:08 p.m. – Billy Dakota Ingram was placed under arrest in front of the Bank of Walterboro at 8058 East Main Street and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center in reference to an outstanding warrant issued against him by the Ridgeland Police Department.  Ingram’s charges stemmed from a June 13th 2016 report of a shoplifting at the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard where a routine review of security footage showed him stealing store items on June 10th.
  • 10:35 p.m. – A suspicious white male was reported in the parking lot of the Wendy’s Restaurant at 8480 Grahamville Road.

JUNE 21, 2016

  • 12:10 a.m. – Several juveniles were reportedly standing around in the parking lot area of Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue.
  • 6:56 a.m. – A 16 year old black male juvenile was placed under arrest at a residence on Taylor Mill Road in reference to an outstanding warrant issued following a June 6th assault of a child under 11 years of age at a residence in the Bees Creek Plantation community.  The suspect was transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice Detention Facility in Columbia SC where he is currently being held awaiting a bond hearing.
  • 7:44 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Aussie Auto Body Repair Center at 1010 West Adams Street.
  • 8:28 a.m. – A wallet was reported lost at the EZ Stop IV Station at 80 Blue Heron Drive after the male complainant allegedly left it lying on the rear bumper of his vehicle before driving away from the business property.
  • 9:08 a.m. – A circular saw, two extension cords and an air compressor hose were stolen from the bed of a pickup parked outside of a residence on East Adams Street sometime during nighttime hours after 9:00 p.m.
  • 9:22 a.m. – A routine review of security footage at the EZ Stop IV Station at 80 Blue Heron Drive revealed a white male entering the store just after 2 p.m. on June 16th and stealing a micro SD card from a display by the front door.
  • 10:15 a.m. – A property damage report was filed at Proctor’s Small Engine Repair Service at 10626 South Jacob Smart Boulevard after the business owner discovered damage to a rear gate indicating that someone had attempted to force entry using a vehicle sometime during the nighttime hours.
  • 10:16 a.m. – A female subject was reportedly involved in an argument in the parking lot of Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue.
  • 11:16 a.m. – A suspicious vehicle was reported on Industrial Park Road in reference to a blue Honda Civic.
  • 6:21 p.m. – Complaints were filed at two separate residences on Third Avenue and McTeer Street in reference to low flying airplanes.
  • 7:01 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Kingdom Touch Ministries Church at 6714 Tillman Road.
  • 7:17 p.m. – A customer at the Rite Aid Pharmacy at 8225 East Main Street discovered a discarded credit card in the parking lot area.
  • 8:38 p.m. – A black male was reportedly asking customers and passers by for money in the parking lot of the EZ Stop IV Station at 80 Blue Heron Drive.
  • 10:47 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Citgo Station at 107 Sycamore Drive.

JUNE 20, 2016

  • 8:41 a.m. – A gold Chrysler 300 and a black Acura MDX were involved in a collision at the intersection of Grays Highway and Wiley Street.  No injuries were reported.
  • 9:16 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 27 mile marker in reference to a white tractor trailer.
  • 10:38 a.m. – Kristina Nicole Trudell turned herself in to Ridgeland Officers at the Jasper County Detention Center in reference to an outstanding warrant issued against her by the Ridgeland Police Department.  Trudell’s charges stemmed from a June 10th 2016 larceny report filed at the Carolina Lodge Motel where she and a black male suspect were captured on surveillance video stealing a television from an unoccupied room on June 8th as a black female suspect distracted the employee who had unlocked the door in order to clean the room.  
  • 12:42 p.m. – A blue Mitsubishi pickup and a gray Ford F150 pickup were involved in a collision at the intersection of North Jacob Smart Boulevard and East Main Street.  No injuries were reported.
  • 1:21 p.m. – An assault was reported at the Jasper County Courthouse at 265 Russell Street after one of the male parties involved threatened another following a Family Court hearing.
  • 3:01 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 33 mile marker in reference to a white Porsche.
  • 4:50 p.m. – A report was filed at Heron Crossing Apartments at 72 Heron Crossing Drive in reference to threats and slanderous Facebook posts being made by the complainant’s ex-boyfriend.
  • 5:25 p.m. – Linda Faye Sikes turned herself in to Ridgeland Officers at the Jasper County Detention Center in reference to an outstanding warrant issued against her by the Ridgeland Police Department.  Sikes’ charges stemmed from a May 29th 2016 domestic dispute at the Caroline Lodge Motel at 8260 East Main Street.
  • 6:53 p.m. – Langh Gin Kham was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center after Patrol Officers spotted him riding a bicycle on I-95 North around the 23 mile marker.  Kham had been warned approximately 30 minutes prior by another Officer at exit 21 of the laws regarding such activity.
  • 7:51 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Palmetto Eye Specialists Office at 10911 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 11:42 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Grayco Hardware and Building Supply Store at 119 Industrial Park Road.

JUNE 19, 2016

  • 12:13 a.m. – A domestic dispute between a male and a female was reported at a residence on East Adams Street.
  • 12:27 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 22 mile marker in reference to a white tractor trailer.
  • 2:09 p.m. – Officers conducting a driver safety checkpoint on East Frontage Road discovered Billy Joel Wheeler, 30 of Ridgeland SC, in possession of a quantity of marijuana while driving a green Dodge Stratus.  He was cited for the offense and assigned a court date prior to leaving the area.
  • 2:49 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 16 mile marker in reference to a white Ford F150 pickup.
  • 4:36 p.m. – A black Dodge Nitro was stopped for speeding on I-95 North around the 22 mile marker where driver Boris Antonio Vargas was found to be operating without a driver’s license.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as the vehicle was released to a licensed passenger.
  • 5:25 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on East Wilson Street.
  • 8:32 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Badcock Furniture Store at 10213 South Jacob Smart Boulevard where Timothy Lanton Murnane, 54 of Ridgeland SC, was found behind the business.  After determining that there were no indications of criminal activity Murnane was ordered off of the property.
  • 8:55 p.m. – As assault was reported in the parking lot of the McDonalds Restaurant at 8548 Grahamville Road after a subject allegedly pointed a handgun at the complainant.
  • 9:20 p.m. – A suspicious person was reported behind the Pizza Hut Carryout at 10856 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 10:56 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 28 mile marker in reference to a dark colored Honda.

JUNE 18, 2016

  • 12:15 a.m. – A black tractor trailer and a tan Nissan Altima were involved in a collision on I-95 South around the 22 mile marker.  No injuries were reported.
  • 12:50 a.m. – A loitering complaint was filed at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue in reference to several subjects standing around in the parking lot area.
  • 2:03 a.m. – Two suspicious black males were reported at the intersection of Bees Creek Road and Colony Drive.
  • 3:25 a.m. – A silver Honda CRV was struck by a tractor trailer which then left the area without reporting the collision on I-95 South around the 23 mile marker.  No injuries were reported.
  • 3:53 a.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted Hardeeville Police involved in a pursuit of a blue Hyundai passenger car traveling North on I-95 from the exit 8 interchange. The vehicle ultimately left the interstate at exit 18 and turned North on Highway 17 at which point the driver lost control by Club Pluto and struck a roadside drainage ditch.  The black male driver then exited and fled the area on foot running through a wooded area into the Mitchellville community.
  • 5:46 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported in reference to a black Ford Escape traveling North on I-95 between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.  The vehicle was last seen pulling into the parking lot of Club Pluto at 8812 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 7:14 a.m. – A black Labrador was reportedly acting aggressive wandering the area of Hagin Drive.  The animal was ultimately transported to the Jasper Animal Rescue Mission at 1352 Carters Mill Road.
  • 8:12 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at Ken’s Tire Service at 10464 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 9:01 a.m. – A gray Toyota Corolla was discovered parked in a wooded area on Great Swamp Road near the First Avenue intersection.  Officers traveled to the registered owner’s address on Sailfish Circle in the Carters Mill Estates community where they were advised that the vehicle had been stolen sometime during the overnight hours.  Evidence collected at the scene has been submitted to the Beaufort County Forensics Laboratory for DNA analysis and suspect identification.
  • 3:39 p.m. – A domestic dispute between a Mother and her 14 year old son was reported at a residence on Shadetree Street in the Carters Mill Estates community after the male refused to return home from his sister’s home in Bluffton.  He was ultimately returned to the custody of his Mother later in the afternoon following a telephone conversation with the investigating Officer.
  • 5:30 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers traveled to the Beaufort County Detention Center at 100 Ribaut Road in Beaufort SC where inmate Eli Katis Blackshear was turned over to their custody and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center in reference to an outstanding warrant issued by the Ridgeland Police Department. Blackshear’s charges stemmed from a September 23rd 2015 incident at the Gulf Station at 8250 East Main Street where he was captured on surveillance video instigating a fight with another customer inside of the store resulting in several hundred dollars worth of damage.  He was arrested for the offense as well as an outstanding narcotics warrant issued by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office during a September 25th 2015 traffic stop at the intersection of Grahamville and Bees Creek Road and later found guilty of the property damage charge in Ridgeland Municipal Court on October 12th 2015.  He was then placed on a time payment plan to settle the court ordered fines which he failed to comply with resulting in a warrant being issued for his arrest.
  • 6:31 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 21 mile marker in reference to a brown Dodge Caravan.
  • 7:17 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at a residence on Captain Bill Road in reference to the complainant not hearing from her 8 year old son for several days while he is in the custody of his Father.
  • 8:11 p.m. – A black Dodge Durango was stopped for speeding on I-95 North around the 19 mile marker where driver James Raul Chabera, 36 of John’s Island SC, was found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana.  He was cited for the offense and assigned a court date prior to leaving the area.
  • 10:41 p.m. – A red Toyota Tacoma pickup was stopped for speeding on I-95 North around the 19 mile marker where driver Arnoldo Edelso Lopez-Perez was found to be operating without a driver’s license.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as J&M Towing took possession of the vehicle.

JUNE 17, 2016

  • 7:32 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at Ken’s Tire Service at 10464 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 7:57 a.m. – Two stray dogs were reportedly wandering the area of West Main Street and South Railroad Avenue.
  • 9:18 a.m. – An escorted tractor trailer transporting an oversized load was reportedly impeding traffic flow on I-95 North around the 22 mile marker.
  • 10:52 a.m. – A black Mercedes C230 was stopped for an improper tag violation on I-95 South at the exit 22 interchange where driver Christy R. Whittington and passenger Anthony Ejifor Asanya were found to be in possession of a quantity of crack cocaine.  Both were placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as A-1 Towing took possession of the vehicle.
  • 1:39 p.m. – A white pickup was reportedly stopped in the middle of the roadway on North Jacob Smart Boulevard around the Captain Bill Road intersection.
  • 2:17 p.m. – A white Chevy Cruze was struck by a blue four door sedan which then left the area without reporting the collision while traveling South on I-95 around the 18 mile marker.  No injuries were reported.
  • 4:25 p.m. – A report of possible animal neglect was filed on Sailfish Circle in the Carters Mill Estates community in reference to a pit bull left chained outside of a residence.
  • 4:29 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 18 mile marker in reference to a black Toyota SUV.
  • 8:55 p.m. – A harassment complaint was filed at the Pizza Hut Carryout at 10856 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 9:46 p.m. – A report of gunshots being fired was filed on Shadetree Street in the Carters Mill Estates community.
  • 11:19 p.m. – A domestic dispute was reported at the Plantation Inn Motel at 11433 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

JUNE 16, 2016

  • 1:20 a.m. – A suspicious person was reported at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue in reference to a black female knocking on the complainant’s window.
  • 8:23 a.m. – A gray Ford Taurus was stopped on I-95 South around the 23 mile marker after a check of the displayed Maryland license plate showed it to be cancelled.  Further investigation revealed the tag itself to be counterfeit and driver Marian Luv Chism, 19 of Winston Salem NC, to be operating with no vehicle registration and no proof of ownership or insurance.  She was cited for the offenses and assigned a court date as Hook Ups Towing took possession of the vehicle.  The counterfeit plate was seized and marked for destruction following trial.
  • 8:44 a.m. – A larceny was reported at a residence on West Smith Street after an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen from inside of a vehicle left unlocked during the overnight hours.
  • 9:25 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Kingdom Touch Ministries Church at 6714 Tillman Road.
  • 1:31 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on McTeer Street.
  • 2:46 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 28 mile marker in reference to a white Chrysler 300.
  • 4:40 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 31 mile marker in reference to a gray Hyundai passenger car.
  • 7:06 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the State Farm Insurance Office at 10840 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 7:45 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at a residence on Sailfish Circle in the Carters Mill Estates community after an open line 911 call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.
  • 11:03 p.m. – A silver Dodge mini van and a silver Volvo station wagon both struck a large piece of road debris on I-95 South around the 21 mile marker causing damage.  No injuries were reported.

JUNE 15, 2016

  • 8:26 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Main Street Pharmacy at 7752 West Main Street.
  • 9:53 a.m. – A telephone scam was reported at the Plantation Inn Motel at 11433 North Jacob Smart Boulevard after Management received a call from a person identifying themselves as an IRS Agent and demanding money.
  • 1:34 p.m. – A complaint was filed at a residence on Hagin Drive in reference to slanderous Facebook posts.
  • 2:14 p.m. – A gold Nissan Sentra was stopped for an expired Louisiana tag violation on I-95 South around the 21 mile marker where driver Kervin A. Chavez was found to be operating without a driver’s license.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Elite Towing took possession of the vehicle. 
  • 4:30 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 18 mile marker in reference to a silver Chevy Silverado pickup.
  • 6:20 p.m. – A report of a pregnant female abusing illegal narcotics was filed by a family member at the EZ Stop IV Station at 80 Blue Heron Drive.
  • 8:08 p.m. – A loud music complaint was filed on Shadetree Street in the Carters Mill Estates community.
  • 11:02 p.m. – A loitering complaint was filed at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue in reference to subjects standing around in the parking lot area.
  • 11:46 p.m. – A black male was reportedly selling illegal narcotics in the parking lot of the Gulf Station at 8250 East Main Street.

  • 9:39 a.m. – A civil dispute was reported at a residence on West Main Street in reference to a neighbor driving across the caller’s lawn.
  • 10:17 a.m. – A white Chevy SUV was stopped for a lane change violation on I-95 South around the 21 mile marker where passenger Crystal Charlotte Evans, 17 of Uniontown PA, was found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana.  She was cited for the offense and assigned a court date prior to leaving the area.
  • 2:01 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at a residence on Perry Street after an open line 911 call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.
  • 6:50 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Nimmer Turf business offices at 524 Nimmer Turf Road.
  • 10:30 p.m. – A silver tractor trailer and a red tractor trailer were reportedly impeding traffic flow while traveling South on I-95 around the 22 mile marker.

JUNE 13, 2016

  • 12:26 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted at a residence on North Jasper Street after a 911 hang up call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.
  • 12:55 a.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies in responding to a domestic dispute between a husband and wife at a residence on South Jacob Smart Boulevard.  Both parties agreed to separate for the remainder of the night without incident.
  • 9:06 a.m. – Romoan Elliot Chester was placed under arrest at the Ridgeland Municipal Courtroom at 1 Town Square and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center in reference to an outstanding warrant issued against him by the Ridgeland Police Department.  Chester’s charges stemmed from a June 5th 2016 shoplifting incident at the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard where he was captured on surveillance video stealing store items by concealing them underneath his clothing.
  • 11:42 a.m. – A legally parked and unoccupied white Chevy Impala was struck by a silver Chevy Malibu in the parking lot of the Regions Bank at 11004 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.  No injuries were reported.
  • 12:14 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 27 mile marker in reference to a red Pontiac Aztec.
  • 12:25 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted at a residence on Shadetree Street in the Carters Mill Estates community after an open line 911 call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.
  • 3:25 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 16 mile marker in reference to a red and white tractor trailer.
  • 3:45 p.m. – A routine review of surveillance video at the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard revealed footage of Billy Dakota Ingram, 21 of Ridgeland SC, stealing store items on June 10th 2016.  A warrant affidavit has been filed against him under the charge of shoplifting.

  • 12:52 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted at a residence on North Jasper Street after an open line 911 call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.
  • 5:38 a.m. – A Budget Rental Truck was involved in a single vehicle collision on I-95 North around the 24 mile marker after the driver fell asleep at the wheel and left the roadway becoming stuck in a roadside drainage ditch.  No injuries were reported.
  • 7:16 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 21 mile marker in reference to a gray passenger car.
  • 9:49 a.m. – A gold Buick passenger car was stopped for speeding on I-95 North around the 23 mile marker where driver Juilane K. Williams was found to be listed as a wanted person by the Duval County Florida Sheriff’s Office in reference to an outstanding property damage warrant.  She was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center pending extradition by Florida Authorities as Scott’s Automotive took possession of the vehicle.
  • 9:59 a.m. – A welfare check was conducted at a residence on North Jasper Street after an open line 911 call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.
  • 10:38 a.m. – Officers responded to the Ridgeland Correctional Institution at 5 Correctional Road in reference to a subject visiting an inmate at the facility being found in possession of illegal narcotics.  Demetrice Brabham, 44 of Goose Creek SC, was turned over to the custody of Ridgeland Officers for transport to the Jasper County Detention Center.

  • 12:17 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies in responding to a domestic dispute between a Mother and daughter at a residence on Ridgeland Lakes Drive where Nysheema Love Strobert, 17 of Ridgeland SC, resisted Deputies attempting to place her under arrest under a disorderly conduct charge after she refused to stop shouting and cursing in front of the home as they attempted to conduct their investigation.  She was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center under the charges of public disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

  • 1:14 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on McTeer Street.
  • 1:37 p.m. – A black Isuzu SUV was stopped on I-95 South around the 20 mile marker after a check of the displayed New Jersey tag revealed it to be registered to a 2004 Ford as well as having expired in 2012.  The driver of the vehicle, Leslie Campbell, was found to be operating with no valid insurance coverage and being in possession of an open container of beer as well as being listed as a wanted person by the Charleston County SC Sheriff’s Office in reference to an outstanding driving under suspension warrant.  Further information showed his South Carolina driver’s license to be under a state of suspension with two previous convictions for driving under suspension appearing on his record.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as A-1 Towing took possession of the vehicle.
  • 2:22 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on McTeer Street.
  • 2:25 p.m. – Two motorcycles were reportedly racing one another while traveling South on I-95 around the 38 mile marker.
  • 3:09 p.m. – Brandon O’neal Mulligan, 23 of Ridgeland SC, was placed on trespass notice for the property of a private residence on North Jacob Smart Boulevard after causing a disturbance and harassing the female occupant.

  • 4:06 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted on a subject inside of a blue Hyundai Elantra after an activated Onstar panic alarm was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.
  • 4:29 p.m. – A review of surveillance footage at the Carolina Lodge Motel at 8260 East Main Street revealed a June 8th 2016 theft in which a black male and a white female stole a television from an unoccupied room.  The footage is being reviewed for suspect identification and pending charges.
  • 5:37 p.m. – Officers responded to the Ridgeland Correctional Institution at 5 Correctional Road in reference to a subject visiting an inmate at the facility being found in possession of a quantity of marijuana.  Samelya Ellyse Aiken, 29 of Hilton Head SC, was turned over to the custody of Ridgeland Officers for transport to the Jasper County Detention Center.

  • 8:56 p.m. – A silver Chevy was reportedly impeding traffic flow while traveling South on I-95 around the 22 mile marker.
  • 9:18 p.m. – A black Dodge Journey and a green Ford F150 pickup were involved in a collision on Bees Creek Road near the Rosa Lee Wright Road intersection.  No injuries were reported.
  • 9:52 p.m. – A noise complaint was filed on Shadetree Street in the Carters Mill Estates community in reference to loud music coming from a neighboring residence.

JUNE 9, 2016

  • 12:58 a.m. – A suspicious person was reported in the parking lot of the Quality Inn Motel at 221 James Taylor Drive.
  • 1:05 a.m. – A noise complaint was filed at Heron Crossing Apartments at 72 Heron Crossing Drive in reference to loud music.
  • 3:52 a.m. – Ridgeland Officers traveled to the Jasper County Detention Center at 12008 North Jacob Smart Boulevard where an outstanding warrant was served against inmate Trey T. Woods following his arrest by Jasper County Deputies at a residence on Morgandollar Road just after midnight in service of an outstanding Family Court bench warrant.  Woods’ charges with the Ridgeland Police Department stemmed from a December 4th 2014 traffic stop where he was cited for driving without a license.  He then failed to appear in Ridgeland Municipal Court to answer to the charges on January 5th 2015 where he was found guilty during a trial in absence and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
  • 4:09 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 26 mile marker in reference to a silver tractor trailer.
  • 4:26 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at Ken’s Tire Service at 10464 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 7:11 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 28 mile marker in reference to a silver Mercedes Benz.
  • 7:50 a.m. – Lula Mae Moore was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center when she was spotted walking North on I-95 around the 22 mile marker after having been previously warned by the arresting Officer.
  • 10:00 a.m. – A wallet was found discarded at Turpin Park at 901 North Logan Street.
  • 12:41 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Beaufort/Jasper Volunteers In Medicine Clinic at 11332 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 3:17 p.m. – A wallet containing several pieces of identification was found at the Jasper County Probation & Parole Offices at 214 Second Avenue.  The item was turned over to Law Enforcement for return to the rightful owner.
  • 3:21 p.m. – Dennis Wayne Smith was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center from his job at the SCDOT Maintenance Facility at 150 East Woodlawn Street in reference to an outstanding warrant.  Smith’s charges stemmed from a May 24th 2016 collision at 11189 North Jacob Smart Boulevard where he struck a legally parked gray Ford Ranger pickup and then fled the area without reporting the collision.
  • 3:34 p.m. – A shoplifting was reported at The Outpost Clothing Store at 10545 South Jacob Smart Boulevard. 
  • 7:36 p.m. – A blue Ford Mustang was stopped for speeding on I-95 South around the 21 mile marker where driver Colton James Park was found to be operating under a suspended South Carolina driver’s license stemming from failure to pay traffic ticket violations.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as the vehicle was released to a licensed passenger.
  • 11:28 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 17 mile marker in reference to a white tractor trailer.

JUNE 8, 2016

  • 6:19 a.m. – A larceny was reported after several items were stolen from inside of a silver Volkswagen Jetta left unlocked in front of a residence on West Main Street during the overnight hours.  Evidence collected at the scene has been submitted to the SLED Forensics Laboratory for analysis.
  • 9:38 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 22 mile marker in reference to a UPS tractor trailer.
  • 1:41 p.m. – A civil complaint was filed by a Stellar Jay Road resident in reference to a prepaid Visa card purchased on yesterday’s date at the Dollar General Store at 8123 East Main Street.
  • 2:57 p.m. – A suspicious vehicle was reported at the Quality Inn Motel at 221 James Taylor Drive in reference to a black GMC vehicle left unoccupied in the parking lot for several days.
  • 3:17 p.m. – A gray Toyota Corolla was broken into while parked outside of a residence on Russell Street during the overnight hours.  No items were reported missing.
  • 5:13 p.m. – An iPhone was reportedly stolen from a customer’s cart at the Harvey’s Grocery Store at 8205 East Main Street.
  • 5:25 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on Old House Road in reference to a gray Ford Focus.
  • 6:31 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 11 mile marker in reference to a gray Toyota Camry.

JUNE 7, 2016

  • 4:19 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the K&L Granite Showroom at 11742 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 6:50 a.m. – A hit and run was reported in the parking lot of the Bobops Convenience Store at 8548 Grahamville Road after a legally parked Kia Sorento was struck by a U-Haul rental truck which then left the area without reporting the collision.  No injuries were reported.
  • 12:00 p.m. – A black Chevy 1500 pickup was stopped on East Wilson Street after Officers spotted Dale Roscoe Terry Jr. in the passenger seat who is listed as a wanted person by the Hampton County Sheriff’s Office in reference to outstanding larceny warrants.  He was placed under arrest without incident as the driver of the pickup, John Dealacey Smith, was found to be in possession of a quantity of cocaine resulting in him being taken into custody.  Both subjects were transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Hook Ups Towing took possession of the vehicle.
  • 5:51 p.m. – A black male was reportedly asking customers and passers by for money in the parking lot of the Family Dollar Store at 73 South Green Street.
  • 6:46 p.m. – Richard Passio Jr. was placed under arrest at the Ridgeland Police Department at 11323 North Jacob Smart Boulevard after a warrant was issued for his arrest charging him with the June 3rd shooting death of his wife Michelle Passio at their home on East Main Street.  He is currently being held at the Jasper County Detention Center.
  • 9:24 p.m. – A suspicious vehicle was reported on North Green Street in reference to a white pickup.
  • 10:08 p.m. – A white male was reportedly walking South on I-95 around the 18 mile marker.
  • 11:58 p.m. – A suspicious vehicle was reported in the parking lot of the Citgo Station at 107 Sycamore Drive in reference to a black Toyota Scion.

JUNE 6, 2016

  • 3:16 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 32 mile marker in reference to a silver Toyota Camry.
  • 6:19 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 17 mile marker in reference to a red Buick.
  • 8:25 a.m. – An assault involving a 16 year old male suspect was reported at a residence in the Bees Creek Plantation community.
  • 9:39 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the New Hong Kong Restaurant at 8176 East Main Street.
  • 10:14 a.m. – An animal complaint was filed in reference to several stray cats at a residence on West Langford Street.
  • 3:40 p.m. – Two passenger cars were involved in a collision in the parking lot of the Family Dollar Store at 73 South Green Street.  No injuries were reported.
  • 5:23 p.m. – A report was filed of fireworks being ignited in the Oakridge Trailer Park community on North Green Street.
  • 9:46 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Jasper County Technology Center at 262 Third Avenue.
  • 11:15 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the New Hong Kong Restaurant at 8176 East Main Street.

JUNE 5, 2016

  • 3:48 a.m. – A dispute between a male and his girlfriend’s Father was reported at a residence on South Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 5:39 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 28 mile marker in reference to a gray Cadillac sedan.
  • 11:34 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Shinetown Distillery at 857 James Taylor Drive.
  • 1:10 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 22 mile marker in reference to a red pickup.
  • 5:28 p.m. – A gray Mercedes passenger car was involved in a single vehicle collision on I-95 South around the 21 mile marker after the driver lost control and left the roadway ultimately becoming stuck in a roadside drainage ditch.  No injuries were reported.
  • 5:49 p.m. – A stray brown dog was reportedly wandering the parking lot of the Citgo Station at 107 Sycamore Drive.
  • 7:51 p.m. – A report of illegal drug activity was filed at the Travelodge Motel at 8216 East Main Street.
  • 8:53 p.m. – Romoan Elliot Chester, 40 of Ridgeland SC, was captured on surveillance video stealing store items from the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard by concealing them in his clothing.  A warrant affidavit has been filed against him under the charge of shoplifting.

JUNE 4, 2016

  • 2:42 a.m. – A harassment complaint was filed by a passing motorist on I-95 South around the 23 mile marker in reference to the complainant allegedly being followed by 3 unknown vehicles.
  • 8:42 a.m. – An animal complaint was filed in the Oakridge Trailer Park community on North Green Street in reference to an aggressive dog at a neighboring home constantly getting free from a chain and wandering the neighborhood.
  • 12:39 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 35 mile marker in reference to a white Toyota Matrix.
  • 1:10 p.m. – A civil complaint was filed at the Travelodge Motel at 8216 East Main Street after a tenant left belongings on the property after vacating their room.
  • 2:48 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at GJ’s Used Cars at 10074 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.
  • 3:19 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on Highway 17 in reference to a blue passenger car traveling North between Switzerland and Ridgeland.
  • 4:06 p.m. – A welfare check was conducted in the parking lot of the Dollar General Store at 8123 East Main Street after an open line 911 call was received by Jasper County Emergency Services.
  • 4:23 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Baptist Church at 1448 Grays Highway.
  • 4:42 p.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Seventh Day Adventist Church at 8569 Grahamville Road.
  • 4:45 p.m. – A complaint was filed at the Harvey’s Grocery Store at 8205 East Main Street in reference to a silver Nissan Murano parked in the fire lane in front of the business.
  • 5:07 p.m. – A property damage report was filed at the Forrest Motel at 10504 South Jacob Smart Boulevard after a tenant struck a propane tank with his vehicle causing a small leak which was soon repaired without incident.  The responsible party came to an agreement to settle the damages with Management.
  • 5:45 p.m. – A domestic dispute between a male and a female was reported at the Travelodge Motel at 8216 East Main Street.
  • 7:50 p.m. – An 8 year old male was assaulted by a 10 year old male with a glass bottle causing a small laceration on his head on Shadetree Street in the Carters Mill Estates community.  Both parents agreed that they would handle the matter themselves.
  • 8:34 p.m. – A pedestrian was reportedly walking on I-95 North at the exit 22 interchange off ramp.
  • 10:10 p.m. – A harassment complaint was filed on Brandon Cove in the North Ridge community in reference to a group of juveniles.
  • 11:32 p.m. – Robert Malave Aponte was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center after being found walking North on I-95 around the 22 mile marker.

JUNE 3, 2016

  • 12:08 a.m. – A loitering complaint was filed at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue in reference to several subjects standing around in the parking lot area.
  • 5:52 a.m. – Officers responded to a report of shots fired at a residence on East Main Street where Michelle L. Passio, 33 of Ridgeland SC, was found deceased inside of the home having suffered an apparent gunshot wound.  This case is currently under investigation.
  • 10:02 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 North around the 18 mile marker in reference to a silver tractor trailer.
  • 11:54 a.m. – A white female customer was reportedly causing a disturbance arguing with staff members at the Dollar General Store at 8123 East Main Street.
  • 1:19 p.m. – A suspicious vehicle was reported in the parking lot of the EZ Stop IV Station at 80 Blue Heron Drive in reference to a Toyota Rav4.
  • 1:44 p.m. – A report was filed at a residence on Shadetree Street in the Carters Mill Estates community regarding a collision that occurred 3 hours prior at the Short Stop BP Station at 10728 South Jacob Smart Boulevard involving a gray Dodge and a red Kia.  No injuries were reported.
  • 2:44 p.m. – A missing person report was filed at a residence on West Main Street after an elderly female was not heard from for an extended period of time.  She returned home just after 3 p.m. while responding Officers were on scene.
  • 3:08 p.m. – A Ford Fusion and a Nissan Maxima were involved in a collision at the intersection of North Jacob Smart Boulevard and Highway 278   No injuries were reported.
  • 8:19 p.m. – A noise complaint was filed at the Star Point BP Station at 11122 North Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to a vehicle in the parking lot.
  • 9:04 p.m. – Ridgeland Officers traveled to the 42 mile marker on I-95 where Colleton County Sheriff’s Deputies turned over John Louis Hooson to their custody following a traffic stop where they found him to be listed as a wanted person by the Ridgeland Police Department.  Hooson’s charges stemmed from a February 18th 2016 traffic stop where he was cited and assigned a court date after being found in possession of an open container of liquor and a quantity of marijuana.  He then failed to appear in Ridgeland Municipal Court on March 28th 2016 to answer to the charges where he was found guilty during a trial in absence and two warrants were issued for his arrest.
  • 11:30 p.m. – A noise complaint was filed at The Palms Motel at 10735 South Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to loud music in the parking lot area.  Officers responded to the location a second time at 12:27 a.m. following a loitering complaint of numerous subjects standing around on the business property.  A third response occurred at 12:38 a.m. in reference to a fight in progress and a fourth response at 1:05 a.m. regarding an armed male subject pointing a handgun at another.

JUNE 2, 2016

  • 7:14 a.m. – A subject was reportedly riding an ATV on private property on Ike Street in the North Ridge community.
  • 10:39 a.m. – A complaint was filed at the Ridgeland Police Department at 11323 North Jacob Smart Boulevard after a notice of suspension was received by a male subject stemming from unpaid traffic tickets which he stated he never received.  A check of the information provided as well as a review of Officer body camera footage revealed that the complainant’s brother had used his name and date of birth during a February 12th 2016 traffic stop of a red Ford Mustang on I-95 where he was cited for speeding and no driver’s license in possession.  Warrants have been issued against Tremaine Rashund Washington, 34 of Wadmalaw Island SC, charging him with speeding, driving under suspension 2nd & providing false information to Police.

  • 1:46 p.m. – Two suspicious black males were reported on the I-95 North entrance ramp at the exit 22 interchange.
  • 3:46 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 22 mile marker in reference to a silver Ford sedan.
  • 5:01 p.m. – A gray passenger car was reportedly traveling South in the Northbound lanes of I-95 around the 21 mile marker.
  • 5:33 p.m. – A larceny was reported at the Southeast Pyrotechnics Warehouse at 11142 North Jacob Smart Boulevard after a yellow plastic case and a silver metal case, both containing firework trigger mechanisms, were stolen from the business property on June 1st after being left outside during the overnight hours.
  • 7:04 p.m. – An intoxicated male subject was reported in the parking lot of the Wendy’s Restaurant at 8480 Grahamville Road.
  • 10:00 p.m. – A harassment complaint was filed at a residence on North Green Street in reference to unwanted text messages.

JUNE 1, 2016

  • 8:36 a.m. – Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on East Wilson Street.
  • 9:57 a.m. – A noise complaint was filed at Heron Crossing Apartments at 72 Heron Crossing Drive in reference to loud music in the parking lot area.
  • 11:37 a.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 in reference to a Budget Rental truck traveling North between Hardeeville and Ridgeland.
  • 12:14 p.m. – A reckless driver was reported on I-95 South around the 28 mile marker in reference to a white sedan.
  • 12:20 p.m. – Benjamin Troy Brown, 44 of Beaufort SC, was placed on trespass notice for the business property of Quality Cleaners at 8225-A East Main Street following a disagreement with employees regarding services.
  • 12:56 p.m. – Terry Lynn Defibaugh turned himself in to Officers at the Ridgeland Police Department at 11323 North Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to an outstanding warrant issued against him.  Defibaugh’s charges stemmed from a May 29th 2016 domestic dispute at the Carolina Lodge Motel at 8260 East Main Street.
  • 4:46 p.m. – Three suspicious black males were reported on South Jacob Smart Boulevard near the Adams Street intersection.
  • 9:23 p.m. – A white Lexus IS350 was involved in a single vehicle collision on I-95 North after attempting to navigate the exit 22 off ramp in excess of 100 mph.  The vehicle traveled off of the roadway into a wooded area where it rolled several times striking numerous trees before ultimately coming to a stop.  Responding Officers discovered three deceased individuals inside of the wreckage identified as Jashawn Tyrie Brown, 17 of Walterboro SC, Jakeem Quashon Pinckney, 18 of Smoaks SC, and Tykeem Tyrone Johnson, 18 of Ruffin SC, as a fourth individual, O’Shay Tysheen Wiggins, 18 of Walterboro, was airlifted to Savannah Memorial Hospital in critical condition after being extricated from the vehicle.

    10:12 p.m. – A domestic dispute between a husband and wife regarding use of a vehicle was reported at the Econo Lodge Motel at 511 James Taylor Drive.
