JUNE 29, 2013

A Buick Park Avenue was stopped at the intersection of Highway 17 and Smith’s Crossing after Officers were advised that registered owner Marcus Gordon was wanted by Hardeeville Police in reference to a failure to appear in court charge. Upon being told that he was under arrest Gordon fled from Officers running East across Highway 17 and continuing on Smith’s Crossing. Other Ridgeland Officers as well as Jasper County Deputies quickly arrived on scene to establish a perimeter and Gordon was soon after apprehended on Rock Road and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center. He is on Federal Probation for a felony weapons charge.

A Kia Optima, a Chevy van and a Nissan Versa were involved in a collision on I-95 North. No injuries were reported.

Officers responded to a domestic dispute at the Ridgeland Weekly Rentals at 24 West Woodlawn Street. No charges were filed.

A white Ford Mustang drove away from Al’s Car Care at 9888 South Jacob Smart Boulevard without paying for services done on the vehicle. Ridgeland Officers attempted to locate the vehicle as Jasper County Deputies responded to the business to file a report.

A Ford Mustang and Ford Focus were involved in a collision on I-95 North. No injuries were reported.

Officers responded to the Nimmer Turf offices at 479 Nimmer Turf Road after dispatch received a 911 hang up call.

A small child was reported to be walking alone beside Highway 17 in front of the Ridgeland Coin Laundry at
10246 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

A Chrysler Town & Country van, a Lexus and a Dodge Caravan were involved in a collision on I-95 North with minor injuries reported.

JUNE 28, 2013

A Dodge pickup was stopped for a moving violation at Miller and Second Avenue where driver Justin Snyder was found to be in possession of an open container of alcohol. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

A harassment complaint was filed by a resident at Logan Lane Apartments at 544 South Logan Street in reference to threats being made towards a juvenile.

Officers responded to a suspicious person at the Fiddlers Seafood Restaurant at 7738 West Main Street.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on Benson Lane.

A telephone harassment complaint was filed by a subject at the Forest Motel at 10504 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on First Avenue.

JUNE 27, 2013

A Buick LeSabre was stopped for speeding on I-95 North where driver Francisco Salgado-Martinez was found to be operating without a driver’s license. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

Two suspicious persons were reported on West Main Street at the Green Street intersection.

Officers transported a subject from the Jasper County Mental Health Clinic at 1510 Grays Highway to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for evaluation after a pick up order was issued at the Jasper County Probate Court.

A disorderly subject reportedly cursing at customers was reported at the Family Dollar Store at 73 South Green Street. No charges were filed.

A Hyundai Elantra was stopped for reckless driving at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue where driver Roy Hamilton was found to be operating under a suspended driver’s license as well as having an outstanding warrant for a traffic offense in January 2013. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

A suspicious person was reported at St. Paul Methodist Church at 7514 West Main Street.

A report of possible child abuse was reported by a subject at the El Ranchito Restaurant at 11382 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

JUNE 26, 2013

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the McDonald’s Restaurant at 8548 Grahamville Road.

A Toyota Tundra struck a deer in the roadway on Highway 462 near the Salzburg Landing intersection. No injuries were reported.

A report of property damage was filed at Mike’s Detail Shop next to Carquest Auto Parts on North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

A white Volvo S40 was involved in a single vehicle collision on I-95 South. No injuries were reported.

A suspicious vehicle was reported parked on I-95 South in the vicinity of Jasper County Detention Center.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on James Taylor Drive.

Two vehicles were involved in a minor collision on I-95 South. No injuries were reported.

A domestic dispute was reported at the Days Inn Motel at 8216 East Main Street. No charges were filed.

A report of property damage was filed at the Blue Heron Nature Center at 321 Bailey Lane.

A Ford Explorer was involved in a single vehicle collision on I-95 South. Two persons were flown from the area by Lifestar for treatment.

JUNE 25, 2013

A black Honda Accord was stopped for speeding on Highway 17 at the State Dam Road intersection where driver Sandra Brinkley was found to be operating under a suspended Georgia driver’s license with no valid insurance coverage. After further investigation the tag on the vehicle was determined to be registered to a Ford F-150. Brinkley was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Volvo Equipment Rentals building at 95 Bees Creek Road.

A Husqvarna weed eater and chainsaw were stolen from two separate vehicles on South Jacob Smart Boulevard which were recovered by Officers behind a set of bushes at the corner of Main Street and Jacob Smart Boulevard.

A suspicious person was reported at the Pizza Bella Restaurant at 8196 East Main Street.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the American Car Care Center at 11263 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

A female juvenile was assaulted by a male juvenile at the Jasper County Boys & Girls Club at 913 Grays Highway. A report of the incident was filed and the mother of the victim did not wish to pursue charges.

JUNE 24, 2013

Angelo Brownlee was sentenced to 30 days in jail during a rule to show cause hearing after failing to fulfill his court ordered community service program commitment stemming from a previous open container charge. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

A suspicious person was reported at the Jaspers Porch Restaurant at 153 James Taylor Drive.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Palmetto Eye Clinic at 10911 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

Officers responded to the Advance Auto Parts Store at 10424 South Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to a shoplifting complaint stemming from an incident that occurred on June 13th. Tyiesha and Makella Clark were both placed on trespass notice for the property and the surrounding Advance Auto Parts stores were advised of the incident.

A suspicious person was reported at the old El Ranchito Restaurant on North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

Ernest Perry Jr. was sentenced to 60 days in jail during a rule to show cause hearing after failing to fulfill his court ordered community service program commitment stemming from a previous driving under suspension charge. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Spay and Neuter Animal Clinic at 21 Getsinger Drive.

Two suspicious persons were reported at the Ridgeland Post Office at 7554 West Main Street.

JUNE 23, 2013

Officers responded to an open door at the Plantation Inn Motel at 11433 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

A handicapped parking violation was reported at the Family Dollar store at 73 South Green Street.

Officers responded to a domestic dispute at the Ridgeland Weekly Rentals Motel at 67 West Woodlawn Street. No charges were filed.

A domestic dispute was reported on Highway 17 inside of a Honda Accord. No charges were filed.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Volvo Equipment Rentals building at 95 Bees Creek Road.

A suspicious person was reported at the Quality Inn Motel at 221 James Taylor Drive.

JUNE 22, 2013

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Bennett Law Firm at 108 Third Avenue.

Two suspicious persons were reported at the Burger King Restaurant at 8257 East Main Street.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Jasper County Magistrates Office at 967 West Adams Street.

A suspicious person was reported at a business on North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

Drug activity was reported on Shadetree Street in Carters Mill Estates.

JUNE 21, 2013

Officers responded to a suspicious person lying beside the roadway at Third Avenue and North Green Street.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Bennett Law Firm at 108 Third Avenue.

An abandoned vehicle was reported parked at the Ralph Tuten Park at 80 James Taylor Drive.

Officers responded to two separate single vehicle collisions on I-95 to assist with traffic until Highway Patrol arrived to file reports. No injuries were reported.

JUNE 20, 2013

Officers located a suspicious vehicle parked in the Blue Heron Nature Trail area with a subject sleeping inside of it. William Boss was ultimately placed under arrest for simple possession of marijuana following a probable cause search of the vehicle. He was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Volvo Equipment Rentals building at 95 Bees Creek Road.

An Acura and a Chevy Impala were involved in a collision behind the Ridgeland Boys & Girls Club at 912 Grays Highway. No injuries were reported.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Baptist Church at 1448 Grays Highway.

A moving company truck was involved in a single vehicle collision on I-95 North striking the center median guard wire. No injuries were reported.

A suspicious person was reported in the area of North Railroad Avenue and West Main Street.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Blue Heron Nature Center at 321 Bailey Lane.

JUNE 19, 2013

A white Chrysler was stopped for speeding on I-95 North where driver Orlando Salazar was found to be operating without a driver’s license. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the South Carolina DMV Office at 348 Live Oak Road.

A suspicious person was reported at Devonwood Apartments at 137 Captain Bill Road.

JUNE 18, 2013

Officers responded to the parking lot of the Days Inn Motel at 8216 East Main Street where Shaquille Delmar Grant was found unresponsive inside of his vehicle. He was taken to the Medical University of South Carolina for an autopsy. Ridgeland Police assisted by SLED Crime Scene Agents processed the scene and evidence collected has been submitted to the SLED Forensics Laboratory for analysis. Officers responded to a domestic dispute between a mother and son at the Plantation Inn at 11433 North Jacob Smart Boulevard. No charges were filed.

Five lawn mowers, an A/C condensor, metal chairs, a brass water fountain and metal gates were reported stolen from a residence on Wise Street.

A ladies wallet was stolen from the parking lot of the Handy Dans Gulf Station at 8250 East Main Street. Surveillance video is being reviewed and charges are pending suspect identification.

JUNE 17, 2013

A suspicious vehicle was reported at the Plantation Inn at 11433 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

A report of property damage to a room was filed by the Carolina Lodge at 8260 East Main Street. No charges were filed.

JUNE 16, 2013

A report of vehicle damage to a Nissan Versa was filed in reference to a vehicle striking a recap in the roadway on I-95 South.

A PT Cruiser and a Toyota Camry were involved in a collision on Shadetree Street in Carters Mill Estates where the driver of the PT Cruiser, Dorrian Hopkin, was found to be operating under a suspended driver’s license with a prior driving under suspension conviction. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

A suspicious person was reported at the Cash Advance business at 8120 East Main Street.

A civil dispute over a hotel room was reported at the Econo Lodge Motel at 511 James L. Taylor Drive.

A suspicious person was reported at the Days Inn Motel at 8216 East Main Street.

JUNE 15, 2013

Officers responded to a harassment complaint at Heron Crossing Apartments at 113 Heron Crossing Drive. No charges were filed.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at Volvo Equipment Rentals at 95 Bees Creek Road.

Officers responded to a domestic dispute at a residence on Sailfish Circle in Carters Mill Estates. No charges were filed.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on Owens Street.

Officers responded to a possible domestic dispute at a residence on First Avenue. No charges were filed.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Jasper County Mental Health Clinic at 1510 Grays Highway.

JUNE 14, 2013

A red Dodge Durango was stopped for speeding on I-95 North where passenger Johnny Rivers attempted to eat a bag of marijuana before fleeing on foot into a wooded area. Rivers was apprehended by pursuing Officers and placed under arrest. He was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

Officers responded to an open door at Ken’s Tire Service at 10464 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

A suspicious person was reported at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue. Catina Aiken was placed on trespass notice for the property at the Property Manager’s request.

A Honda Accord and Chevy Suburban were involved in a collision at the Main Street Barbecue Restaurant at 8084 East Main Street. No injuries were reported and neither party involved wished to filed a report.

JUNE 13, 2013

A harassment complaint was filed after a a Family Court custody hearing at the Jasper County Courthouse at 305 Russell Street.

A silver Lincoln LS was stopped for traveling 106 mph on I-95 North where driver Luis Pacheco-Mendez was found to be operating under the influence as well has having no valid driver’s license. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at Sauls Funeral Home at 500 West Adams Street.

A shoplifting incident was reported at Advance Auto Parts at 10424 South Jacob Smart Boulevard involving two females who steal items from the business and then attempt to return them for a refund at the same store or one of the other locations in the area such as Bluffton or Okatie.

A trespassing complaint was filed by a resident at the Ridgeland Weekly Rentals at 24 West Woodlawn Street. No charges were filed.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at Wright Directions at 112 South Railroad Avenue.

JUNE 12, 2013
A white Buick was stopped for speeding on Tillman Road at Heron Crossing Drive where driver McKenzie Charles was found to be in possession of marijuana. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

Officers responded to a possible domestic dispute at a residence at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue. No charges were filed.

Several items were reported stolen from a grave at the Ridgeland Cemetery.

Officers responded to a domestic dispute at a residence at Logan Lane Apartments at 544 South Logan Street. No charges were filed.

A suspicious vehicle was reported at the Jasper County Courthouse at 305 Russell Street.

Officers responded to a noise complaint in the parking lot of Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue. No charges were filed.

A suspicious vehicle was reported at the Shell Station at 8309 East Main Street.

JUNE 11, 2013

A Honda Accord was stopped for speeding on I-95 South where driver Angelo Pell was found to be operating under a suspended Florida driver’s license as well as having marijuana in his possession. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Advance Auto Parts store at 10424 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

A Chevy Impala was involved in a single vehicle collision at the intersection of Knowles Island and Coosaw Scenic. Minor injuries were reported.

Officers conducted a welfare check at a residence on Three Tee Circle in the North Ridge community after an open line 911 call.

A Chevy Tahoe was stopped a suspended tag on North Jasper Street at the Second Avenue intersection where driver Amie Heyward was found to be operating under a suspended driver’s license with no proof of insurance in her possession. She was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

Officers responded to the Ridgeland Boys & Girls Club at 456 Grays Highway after receiving a report of possible gunshots behind the building.

Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies in the apprehension of Alphonzo Green following an assault at a residence on South Logan Street. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

ALPHONZO GREEN

A Ford Ranger pickup was stopped at the intersection of Smiths Crossing and South Logan Street after it crossed the center divider line into the opposing lane of travel almost striking an Officer’s patrol vehicle. Driver Corey Housey was found to be operating under the influence at which time he was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Palmetto Veterinary Clinic at 409 South Green Street.

A Ford Expedition was stopped at the intersection of West Main and Green Street after Officers discovered that the registered owner had outstanding forgery warrants from Hampton County. Sergio Adams was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center to await extradition to Hampton.

A silver Mercedes was involved in a single vehicle collision on I-95 South where it struck the center median guard wire. No injuries were reported.

JUNE 10, 2013

A report of property damage was filed by the Community Developer of Bees Creek Plantation in reference to the entry/exit gate. Video footage of the incident is being reviewed.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Gretsch building at 248 Grays Highway.

A Ford Escape was stopped for speeding on I-95 South where driver Cornelius Smith was found to be operating under a suspended Alabama driver’s license as well as having an open container of alcohol in his possession. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at Volvo Equipment Rentals at 95 Bees Creek Road.

A Pontiac Vibe was stopped for speeding on I-95 North where driver Crysten Peeples was found to be operating with no proof of insurance. After further inquiry Officers discovered that the tag on the vehicle was registered to a Ford Expedition. Peeples was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

Officers responded to a welfare check on a residence on North Jacob Smart Boulevard after a 911 call was received about loud shouting inside. No charges were filed.

A suspicious female was reportedly sleeping being the Dairy Queen Restaurant at 80 Blue Heron Drive. She left the area prior to Officers arrival.

JUNE 9, 2013

A silver Lexus was stopped behind the Burger King Restaurant at 8257 East Main Street where driver Andrew Brown was found to be operating under the influence as well as having an open container of liquor. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

Officers responded to a suspicious person at the Days Inn Motel at 8216 East Main Street.

A black Kawasaki motorcycle was stopped for reckless driving on Captain Bill Road where driver Jacob Patterson Jr. was found to be operating without a motorcycle license as well as having failed to register the vehicle. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Advance Auto Parts store at 10424 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

A resident on North Green Street reported purchasing an iPhone that was found to be stolen when she attempted to activate it.

JUNE 8, 2013

Officers attempted to stop a silver and black Kawasaki motorcycle for reckless driving on Coosaw Scenic Drive where driver James Brantley Parks, 22 of Yemassee, refused to pull over and attempted to evade Officers resulting in a pursuit which ultimately ended on Highway 17 North of Point South when Parks lost control and wrecked in the center median. He then attempted to flee on foot but was captured by pursuing Officers after a short distance beside the Southbound lanes of Highway 17. He was airlifted to Savannah Memorial Medical Center for treatment due to injuries sustained in the collision and has been charged with reckless driving, habitual offender, driving under suspension 7th offense, failure to register vehicle and failure to stop for blue lights.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Advance Auto Parts Store at 10424 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

Officers responded to a report of a female lying in the roadway at Third Avenue and Green Street where Heather Villeyes was found to be intoxicated. She was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Volvo Equipment Rentals building at 95 Bees Creek Road.

A juvenile male fell from the second story of Woodridge Apartments at 414 South Logan Street suffering injuries. He was airlifted to Savannah Memorial Medical Center.

Officers responded to a disturbance at a residence at Logan Lane Apartments at 544 South Logan Street where Clinton Brown was placed on trespass notice for the property. No charges were filed.

A Ford F150 was reported to be causing damage to the runway at the Ridgeland Municipal Airport at 134 Airport Road.

Officers responded to a domestic dispute at a residence on Shadetree Street in Carters Mill Estates. No charges were filed.

A brown GMC van was involved in a single vehicle collision on Sisters Ferry Road when the driver lost control and left the roadway rolling onto it’s side and coming to a stop in the front yard of a residence. The driver, Jose Cabrera-Guerra, was charged with too fast for conditions and no driver’s license before being transported by EMS personnel to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville.

A noise complaint was filed in reference to several subjects being loud and disruptive in the parking lot of Logan Lane Apartments at 544 South Logan Street.

A suspicious person was reported at the Carquest Auto Parts Store at 11059 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

JUNE 7, 2013

Marion Smith was placed under arrest for public drunk at the Ridgeland Farmers Market. He was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at Wright Directional LLC at 112 South Railroad Avenue.

A resident at Logan Lane Apartments at 544 South Logan Street reported that a subject had pulled a handgun during a verbal argument at her residence two hours prior to her calling 911.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Baptist Church at 1448 Grays Highway.

A Honda Accord was stopped for moving violations at West Main Street and Carters Mill Road where driver Lakeisha Kemp was found to be in possession of an open container of beer in addition to operating under a suspended driver’s license stemming from a prior DUI conviction. She was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Family Dentistry business at 10832 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

Officers responded to a welfare check at a residence on North Jasper Street after a 911 hang up call.

A tractor trailer became stuck in the roadway after it jackknifed attempting a u-turn in front of the Sunoco station at 11965 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

A property damage report was filed by the Jasper County Mental Health Facility at 1510 Grays Highway.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Blue Heron Nature Center at 321 Bailey Lane.

JUNE 6, 2013

A silver and blue 26″ Roadmaster 20 speed bicycle was stolen from a residence on East Adams Street.

A black Chrysler and a gold Ford Ranger pickup truck were involved in a collision at the Pizza Bella Restaurant at 8196 East Main Street. No injuries were reported.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Dean Bell Law Office at 87 Grays Highway.

David Cowart was placed under arrest at the intersection of McCormack and Sisters Ferry Road after being stopped on his bicycle for an open container of beer. He was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

A suspicious vehicle was reported at the KFC Restaurant at 8146 East Main Street. It was found to be unoccupied.

A Kia and a BMW were involved in a collision on North Jacob Smart Boulevard in front of the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store. One person was transported to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville by EMS.

A suspicious person was reported to be sleeping in the storage room of the Ridgeland Coin Laundry at 10246 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Pizza Bella Restaurant at 8196 East Main Street.

A suspicious vehicle/reckless driver was reported in the Jaspers Porch Restaurant parking lot at 153 James L. Taylor Drive.

A Ford Windstar van was stopped for an equipment violation on Wood Duck Road in Carters Mill Estates
where driver Elena Liborio was found to be operating with no valid driver’s license. She was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Volvo Equipment Rentals business at 95 Bees Creek Road.

JUNE 5, 2013

Officers responded to a residence at Woodridge Apartments at 414 South Logan Street in reference to an assault that had taken place inside. Burglary charges are pending against the suspect involved.

A black Acura was stopped in the Taylor’s BP parking lot at 80 Blue Heron Drive after the tag on the vehicle returned showing registered to a Ford Ranger pickup. The driver, Angela Brazil, was unable to provide any proof of insurance and was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

A suspicious person was reported at the Handy Dan’s Exxon Station at 8310 East Main Street.

Someone broke into a Honda Accord in the parking lot of the Forest Motel at 10504 South Jacob Smart Boulevard and removed a Pioneer car stereo, a pair of Nike shoes and 2 music CD’s. Evidence collected inside the vehicle has been submitted to the SLED Forensics Laboratory for suspect identification.

A suspicious vehicle was reported at the intersection of Bees Creek Road and Forrest Drive. It was found to be unoccupied.

Officers responded to a residence on Oak Plantation Drive in reference to a request from Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office concerning a theft investigation.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Discount Tobacco Store at 8120 East Main Street.

A suspicious vehicle was reported at a residence on North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

A silver Kia was involved in a single vehicle collision on I-95 South where driver Gabriel Lindsey was found to be operating under a suspended Florida driver’s license and was unable to provide any proof of insurance on the vehicle. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

A possible theft of a cell phone was reported at a residence on Shadetree Street in Carters Mill Estates. Victim became indecisive and case was determined to be a civil matter.

A sexual assault was reported at a residence on South Jacob Smart Boulevard. A forensic interview has been scheduled and charges are pending.

Officers responded to a suspicious person sleeping beside the El Ranchito Restaurant on North Jacob Smart Boulevard where Johnny Hurley was found to be intoxicated and unable to stand. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

JUNE 4, 2013

A 2001 Chevy Tahoe was struck by a baseball on West Main Street. The two parties agreed to take care of the damages civilly.

Three suspicious persons were reported in the parking lot of the Jaspers Porch Restaurant at 153 James L. Taylor Drive.

Officers responded to the Ridgeland Correctional Institution at 5 Correctional Road in reference to inmates taking over one of the dorms. Officers from multiple agencies staged outside of the Institute until the prison’s internal response team ultimately regained control. Minor injuries were reported.

A suspicious vehicle was reported in the parking lot of the Waffle House at 8185 East Main Street.

A U-Haul truck and a gray can were involved in a collision at the Carolina Lodge at 8260 East Main Street. No injuries were reported.

Officers responded to a suspicious person lying on the ground at South Jacob Smart Boulevard and Mango Drive.

JUNE 3, 2013

Antwain Drake was arrested at Ridgeland Municipal Court in reference to a bench warrant being issued after he failed to appear on a traffic charge from May 9th and was tried in his absence. He was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

A civil complaint was filed by a tenant at the Plantation Inn at 11433 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland School at 250 Jaguar Trail.

A shoplifting incident occurred at the Family Dollar Store at 73 South Green Street. After reviewing video surveillance footage an arrest warrant was issued for Catrina T. Mitchell.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at Golden Triangle Repair at 106 West Langford Street.

A harassment complaint was filed by a tenant at the Siesta Motel at 10530 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Sunoco Station at 11965 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

An alligator was reported in the roadway on Red Drum Street in Carters Mill Estates. DNR was notified.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the McDonalds Restaurant at 8548 Grahamville Road.

Willie Ortiz was placed under arrest at his home in reference to an arrest warrant being issued after a domestic dispute on June 2nd. He was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Discount Tobacco Store at 8120 East Main Street.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at Volvo Rentals at 95 Bees Creek Road.

A Honda Civic was involved in a single vehicle collision on I-95 South. Two occupants were transported to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville by EMS.

JUNE 2, 2013

Officers responded to the Ridgeland Fire Department where a female victim filed an assault report regarding an incident at Bees Creek Plantation. Warrant affidavits have been filed against Willie Ortiz for the charge of Criminal Domestic Violence High & Aggravated.

Officers responded to the Volvo Rentals business at 95 Bees Creek Road in reference to an activated alarm.

A report of illegal drug activity was filed by a resident on Allen Drive.

Officers responded to a single vehicle collision on I-95 North involving a blue Ford Taurus in the ditch off of the right shoulder. The driver of the vehicle, Joshua Larson, was found to be operating under a suspended Florida driver’s license with an expired vehicle registration and no valid insurance coverage. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at American Care Care at 11263 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

JUNE 1, 2013

Officers responded to a suspicious vehicle behind a residence on Hagin Drive.

Officers responded to a residence on First Avenue after receiving complaints that two dogs had been left in the residence possibly abandoned. Jasper County Animal Control was contacted and took possession of one pit bull and one mixed breed. The animals were transported to the Jasper Animal Rescue Mission on Carters Mill Road and the owner was notified.

A suspicious vehicle was reported at Ned’s Pub & Grub at 11090 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

Possible drug activity during a graduation party was reported at the Days Inn Motel at 8216 East Main Street. No charges were filed.

Officers responded to a suspicious person at Turpin Park at 901 North Logan Street.
