THE FOLLOWING INCIDENTS ARE AN ACCOUNT OF CALLS AND CASES RESPONDED TO BY OFFICERS OF THE RIDGELAND POLICE DEPARTMENT. THESE CASES ARE CLOSED OR CURRENTLY UNDER INVESTIGATION. AUGUST 31, 2014

A white Chevy van was stopped on South Jacob Smart Boulevard at the Kato Bay Road interchange where driver Antonio Everardo was found to be operating without a drivers license as well as under the influence and having 3 open containers of beer in his possession. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Blatchley’s Towing took possession of the vehicle.

A domestic dispute was reported at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue in reference to two brothers arguing with one another. No charges were filed.

Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies following an assault that occurred at a residence on Peachtree Street after which the suspect traveled to Logan Lane Apartments.

Two black males reportedly broke into a vehicle at a residence on Shadetree Street in the Carters Mill Estates Community and fled on foot running towards McCormack Avenue. Nothing was reported stolen from inside of the vehicle.

AUGUST 30, 2014

Two black males attacked a man pushing his children on a swingset on Shadetree Street in the Carters Mill Estates Community. The suspects struck the victim in the back of the head and aimed a shotgun at him while demanding money when he turned to face them. When the victm stated that he had no money with him the suspect armed with the shotgun pulled the trigger but the gun failed to fire. The victim and both suspects then began to fight for a short period before the suspects fled on foot to a neighbor’s residence where they stole a green 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis with the keys still inside and fled the area last seen heading East on Main Street. The vehicle is described as having a damaged grill, a dent in the rear passenger side and a cracked windshield bearing South Carolina tag number 373-7GN.

A white Nissan Xterra was stopped for speeding on I-95 South around the 22 mile marker where driver Hugo Coy was found to be operating without a driver’s license. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as the vehicle was released to a licensed passenger with his permission.

Officers responded to a residence at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue in reference to a possible overdose of prescription medication. One subject was transported by EMS Personnel to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for treatment and evaluation.

A civil dispute was reported at the Carolina Lodge Motel at 8260 East Main Street in reference to a tenant wanting a refund after seeing the condition of her room.

Several subjects were reportedly consuming alcohol in the parking lot of Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue. No charges were filed.

William Warren, 39 of Ridgeland, stole a bicycle parked outside of the Waffle House Restaurant at 8185 East Main Street around 1:30 a.m. The rightful owner of the bicycle then came out of the restaurant to confront Warren who then pedaling faster in an attempt to flee heading East on Main Street. He then struck a tree and came off of the bicycle striking his head on the roadway. The bicycle was returned to the rightful owner who declined pursuing charges as Warren was airlifted from the scene for medical treatment.

A disturbance was reported at the Handy Dan’s Gulf Station at 8250 East Main Street where Kristen Freeman was found intoxicated on the business property. She was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

A black male was caught shoplifting by store employees at the Dollar General Store at 8123 East Main Street. When told to leave the store the male began cursing and threatening the clerk before leaving in a black Nissan Versa. No charges were filed at the request of the Dollar General.

A fight between two brothers was reported inside of the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard which ultimately spilled out into the parking lot. Dervon Jones was ultimately placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center under the charge of public disorderly conduct. Neither party involved in the fight wished to pursue charges.

A black Chevy Impala was stopped for driving left of center on East Adams Street where driver Desiree Griffin was found to be operating under a suspended South Carolina driver’s license stemming from 5 failure to pay traffic ticket violations. She was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as the vehicle was released to a licensed passenger who was the registered owner.

AUGUST 29, 2014

Numerous tools were reported stolen from a storage unit at the Green Street Storage Facility at 261 South Green Street.

A breach of trust report was filed at the Dollar General Store at 8123 East Main Street after a former employee was captured on surveillance video allowing customers to leave the store without paying for items on numerous occasions totaling several hundred dollars in loss. A warrant affidavit has been filed against Breanna Marable, 23 of Ridgeland, for the offense.

A Chevy pick up and a Volkswagen Jetta were involved in a collision at the intersection of Adams Street and South Jacob Smart Boulevard. No injuries were reported.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the K&L Marble and Granite Showroom at 11742 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

Two suspicious subjects were reported at a vacant residence on Newlin Drive.

A blue Pontiac G6 was involved in a single vehicle collision on Bees Creek Road. One male was transported by EMS Personnel to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for treatment.

A report of possible gunshots was filed by a resident on Hagin Drive in reference to sounds coming from the football field behind the Ridgeland Boys & Girls Club at 456 Grays Highway.

AUGUST 28, 2014

A suspicious person was reported in the parking lot of the Taylors BP Station at 80 Blue Heron Drive in reference to a male subject approaching customers and asking strange questions.

Officers responded to a domestic dispute in front of a residence on Fifth Avenue in refrence to a male and female arguing. No charges were filed.

A civil dispute was reported at a residence at Heron Crossing Apartments at 73 Heron Crossing Drive in reference to an eviction process.

A Ford F150 and a Ford F250 were involved in a collision in front of the South State Bank at 10671 South Jacob Boulevard. Both parties decided to handle the incident without filing a collision report.

An iPhone 4 was reported stolen at the McDonald’s Restaurant at 8548 Grahamville Road. The phone was tracked and ultimately discovered in the men’s restroom. No charges were filed.

A white female with blonde hair reportedly stole at beagle from a residence on Captain Bill Road and was last seen walking toward North Logan Street. The dog was later recovered by the rightful owner.

AUGUST 27, 2014

A harassment complaint was filed at a residence on East Woodlawn Street in reference to an incident that occurred on August 24th. No charges were filed.

A domestic dispute was reported at a residence on Wise Street. No charges were filed.

Two Honda Accords were involved in a collision on Highway 462 near the Rice Shire Road intersection leaving two occupants entrapped. Once extricated, both were transported by EMS Personnel to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for treatment.

AUGUST 26, 2014

A Ford and a Chrysler were involved in a collision on East Main Street at the Logan Street intersection where driver Jasmine Gardner, 20 of Ridgeland, was found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana. She was cited for the offense and assigned a court date before leaving the scene. No injuries were reported .

A domestic dispute was reported at a residence on Wise Street. No charges were filed.

A suspicious vehicle was reported at the football field behind the Ridgeland Boys & Girls Club at 456 Grays Highway.

A harassment complaint was filed by a resident at Ridge Point Apartments at 669 North Green Street. No charges were filed.

A Toyota Camry and a Toyota Prius were involved in a collision at the intersection of Grays Highway and Airport Road. No injuries were reported.

A harassment complaint was filed at the McDonald’s Restaurant at 8548 Grahamville Road in reference to unwanted telephone calls. No charges were filed.

AUGUST 25, 2014

Ridgeland Officers traveled to the Beaufort County Detention Center at 100 Ribaut Road in Beaufort where a hold had been placed on inmate Amber Seiy in reference to an outstanding warrant issued by the Ridgeland Police Department. Seiy’s charges stemmed from a September 19, 2013 incident at Harvey’s Grocery Store at 8205 East Main Street where she was placed under arrest after loading a cart full of groceries and then leaving the store without paying. She was then found guilty of the charges in Ridgeland Municipal Court on September 30, 2013 and placed on a time payment plan to settle the court ordered fines which she failed to comply with resulting in a warrant being issued for her arrest.

A South Carolina state issued 45 day temporary tag was reported stolen from the parking lot of the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard at approximately 2:45 pm.

A vehicle was broken into at a residence on Captain Bill Road sometime during the nighttime hours. No items were reported stolen.

Aaron Knowles-Frazier was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center from the Ridgeland Municipal Court following a rule to show cause hearing. Frazier’s charges stemmed from a March 30, 2014 traffic stop on East Main Street where he was found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana. He was cited for the offense and later found guilty of the charge in Ridgeland Municipal Court on April 28th where he was sentenced to a term of Community Service which he failed to comply with.

A South Carolina state owned Chevy Uplander was reportedly damaged at the Jasper County Department of Social Services Office at 10908 North Jacob Smart Boulevard after employees discovered one of the tires had been cut.

Trent Warren was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center from the Ridgelnad Municipal Court following a rule to show cause hearing. Warren’s charges stemmed from a January 3, 2014 traffic stop on Smith’s Crossing Road where he was placed under arrest after being found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana. He was then found guilty of the charge in Ridgeland Municipal Court on January 27th and sentenced to a term of Community Service which he failed to comply with.

Several suspicious male subjects reported at Harvey’s Grocery Store at 8205 East Main Street.

A gold Lexus sport utility vehicle was involved in a single vehicle collision on I-95 North around the 22 mile marker when the driver lost control and struck the center median guard wires. No injuries were reported.

Officers responded to activated alarms at a residence on James Taylor Drive, the Carolina Collision Auto Body Shop at 11365 North Jacob Smart Boulevard and another at a residence on Brandon Cove in the North Ridge Community.

Alberto Guzman was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center from the Ridgeland Municipal Court following a rule to show cause hearing. Guzman’s charges stemmed from a December 24, 2013 traffic stop on Captain Bill Road where he was placed under arrest for a driving under suspension violation. He was then found guilty of the charge in Ridgeland Municipal Court on January 27, 2014 and sentenced to a term of Community Service which he failed to comply with.

An incorrigible 16 year old male juvenile was reported at the Jasper County Department of Juvenile Justice at 1504 Grays Highway after an argument with his mother.

A black male was caught breaking into a vehicle at a residence on North Logan Street. When confronted by the homeowner the subject fled in a white Chevy Suburban. The homeowner pursued the vehicle down Captain Bill Road and into the Fordville/Family Circle area.

AUGUST 24, 2014

A black Dodge Charger was stopped for speeding 109 mph on I-95 South in a posted 70 mph zone. The vehicle got off of the interstate at exit 22 where a traffic stop was conducted at the intersection of North Green Street and Jacob Smart Boulevard. Driver Brett Dunbar was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as the vehicle was released to the registered owner.

An incorrigible juvenile report was filed at a residence on Ivy Street in reference to an argument between a mother and her 15 year old son. No charges were filed.

A car stereo was reported stolen from a vehicle at a residence on Shadetree Street in the Carters Mill Estates Community sometime between 2 and 7:00 a.m. While speaking with the complainant Officers were told that
on the previous night, (Saturday), a red Honda 250 dirt bike had been stolen from the same residence but never reported. A private citizen later approached Officers at the Ridgeland Police Department where he stated that he had discovered the dirt bike discarded in a woodline on Sisters Ferry Road on Saturday night around 11:30 p.m. The vehicle was then turned over to Officers for processing and return to the rightful owner.

Officers responded to a domestic dispute at a residence at the Siesta Motel at 10530 South Jacob Smart Boulevard where an assault between a male and a female was reportedly occurring in the parking lot. A silver Pontiac Grand Am was stopped as it attempted to exit the rear parking lot area after being identified as the suspect vehicle. Driver Deandre Williams was ultimately placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as the vehicle was left secured on the property.

Officers responded to activated alarms at the South Carolina Department of Transportation Depot at 150 East Woodlawn Street, the Check Into Cash store at 8225 East Main Street and a residence on Wiley Street.

Patrol Officers spotted Leonard Jones walking on South Jacob Smart Boulevard at the Woodlawn Street intersection where he was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center in reference to an outstanding warrant issued against him stemming from a shoplifting incident at the Rite Aid Pharmacy at 8225 East Main Street on Friday August 22nd. He was additionally served trespass notices for the property of Rite Aid as well as Harvey’s Grocery Store at 8205 East Main Street in reference to a shoplifting on Thursday August 21st and the Piggly Wiggly at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to a shoplifting on Wednesday July 30th.

A report of possible child abuse was filed at a residence on East Woodlawn Street. This case is currently under investigation.

Donald Lee Jones turned himself in to Jasper County Deputies at a residence on Carolina Wren Drive where he was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center in reference to two outstanding warrants issued against him by the Ridgeland Police Department. Jones’ charges stemmed from a March 27, 2014 traffic stop on Highway 278 where he was placed under arrest for improper passing and driving under suspension. He then failed to appear in court to answer to the charges on April 28th where he was found guilty at a trial in his absence resulting in two warrants being issued for his arrest.

AUGUST 23, 2014

Officers responded to a verbal domestic dispute at a residence on Sailfish Circle in the Carters Mill Estates Community. No charges were filed.

An assault was reported at an event coordinated by the Ridgeland Boys & Girls Club at 456 Grays Highway where Devante King had reportedly gotten into a fight with another subject inside of the football field area. King was then escorted off of the property by Boys & Girls Club Staff and warned not to return which he disregarded and climbed the fence in order to re-enter. When Officers arrived on scene and began to question King he was found to be intoxicated at which time he was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

Samantha Davis was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center after being found intoxicated while walking on Frontage Road near the Ridgeland Correctional Institution.

Three black males were reportedly observed breaking into a vehicle at a residence on Shadetree Street in the Carters Mill Estates Community. The subjects fled the area when a neighbor confronted them during the incident.

A Hyundai Sonata and a Ford Explorer were involved in a collision on East Wilson Street near the North Logan Street intersection. The Ford then left the scene without reporting the collision as the 7 month pregnant female driver of the Hyundai was transported by EMS Personnel to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for treatment. The driver of the Ford, Barbara Patricia Orum 59 of Bluffton, ultimately reported the collision approximately 1 hour later at Mamita’s Pizzeria at 76 Sweet William Road where she was cited and assigned a court date for the offense of leaving the scene of a collision.

A blue moped was stopped for numerous moving violations at the intersection of North Green Street and North Jacob Smart Boulevard where driver Tony Lambert was found to be operating under the influence as well as being in possession of an open container of alcohol. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as A-1 Towing took possession of the vehicle.

A burgundy Dodge struck a deer at the I-95 South exit 22 off ramp. No injuries were reported.

A loud music complaint was filed at the Quality Inn Motel at 221 James Taylor Drive. No charges were filed.

A property damage report was filed at a residence at Logan Lane Apartments at 544 South Logan Street in refernence to a blue Mercedes passenger car being damaged. A harassment complaint was filed at the same location stemming from telephone calls received just prior to the vehicle damage being discovered.

A civil dispute regarding vehicle parking was reported at a residence on Brandon Cove in the North Ridge Community.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the All Childrens Pediatric Clinic at 10962 North Jacob Smart Bouelvard.

Two dogs were reportedly left in a closed vehicle with no air conditining in the parking lot of the Subway Restaurant at 8234 East Main Street. No charges were filed.

Officers responded to a domestic dispute at a residence at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue where one of the parties involved filed a property damage report after discovering the tires on his vehicle had been punctured. During the course of the incident Officers remained on scene as the male party collected personal belongings from inside the residence at which time Jasmine White and Kendra Drake began shouting and cursing at one another in the parking lot. Both were warned to cease the argument which they failed to comply with resulting in both being placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

A silver Honda and a black Mazda 3 reportedly struck tire debris in the roadway on I-95 North. No injuries were reported.

An undisclosed amount of cash was reported stolen from inside of a white Ford Explorer left unlocked at a residence on Shadetree Street in the Carters Mill Estates Community.

AUGUST 22, 2014

Leonard Randall Jones, 47 of Ridgeland, was caught shoplifting beer by employees at the Rite Aid Pharmacy at 8225 East Main Street at which time he placed several back on the shelf before leaving the store as Police were contacted. A trespass notice and a warrant affidavit have been filed against him for the offense. Jones was also captured on surveillance video stealing beer at the Harvey’s Grocery Store at 8205 East Main Street on Thursday resulting in Store Management requesting a trespass notice be served against him for the property.

An undisclosed amount of cash was reported stolen from the lottery counter at the Sunoco Station at 11965 North Jacob Smart Boulevard. Surveillance video is being reviewed for suspect identification and pending charges.

A Nissan Sentra and a Mercury Grand Marquis were involved in a collision in front of the Bank of Walterboro at 8058 East Main Street. One occupant was transported by EMS Personnel to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for treatment.

A trespassing complaint was filed at Logan Lane Apartments at 544 South Logan Street in reference to a subject on the premises who was previously placed on trespass notice. The suspect left the area prior to Officer arrival.

Officers responded to activated alarms at the Check Into Cash store at 8225 East Main Street and the Dollar General Store at 8123 East Main Street.

A Chevy Impala was involved in a single vehicle collision on Highway 462 near the Zion Oak Grove Baptist Church. Minor injuries were treated on scene by EMS Personnel.

An animal complaint was filed by a resident on North Green Street in reference to a stray dog being on the property. The dog left the area prior to Officer arrival.

Ridgeland Officers travleled to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office at 12008 North Jacob Smart Boulevard where Rudolph Bascom had been detained by Deputies after being found to be listed as a wanted person by the Ridgeland Police Department. He was turned over to Ridgeland PD custody and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center. Bascom’s charges stemmed from a traffic stop on September 8, 2007 when he was charged with driving under suspension and open container. He was then found guilty of the charges in Ridgeland Municipal Court on October 8, 2007 and placed on a time payment plan to settle the Court ordered fines which he failed to comply with resulting in two warrants being issued for his arrest.

A trespassing complaint was filed at the Siesta Motel at 10530 South Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to a former tenant refusing to leave the property. No charges were filed.

AUGUST 21, 2014

Ridgeland Officers spotted two male juveniles, (14 & 16 years of age), behind the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard whom had both been reported as runaways through the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office. One of the juveniles was found in possession of a grocery item which he stated had come from the Piggly Wiggly. Upon further investigation it was discovered that the item had not been paid for at which time a juvenile petition was filed. Both males were turned over to the custody of Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputies for transport to the Juvenile Detention Facility in Columbia SC.

A wallet was reported stolen from the Harvey’s Grocery Store at 8205 East Main Street at around 7:15 pm when the complainant accidentally left it in a shopping cart. Video footage of the incident is being reviewed for suspect identification and pending charges.

A suspicious vehicle was reported at Turpin Park at 901 North Logan Street.

A Mitsubishi Eclipse and a Toyota Prius were involved in a collision at the intersection of Smiths Crossing and South Jacob Smart Boulevard. One occupant was transported by EMS Personnel to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for treatment.

An A/C unit was reported stolen from a vacant residence at Woodridge Apartments at 414 South Logan Street. The theft reportedly occurred sometime within the last ten days.

A domestic dispute was reportedly occurring inside of a vehicle in the drive thru lane of the McDonald’s Restaurant at 8548 Grahamville Road. The vehicle left the area prior to Officer arrival.

AUGUST 20, 2014

Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies and Hardeeville Officers at a residence at Deer Run Apartments at 167 Walsh Drive in Hardeeville following a stolen vehicle pursuit out of Savannah GA. A silver Dodge Charger was reported stolen in Savannah on Sunday August 17th which was then used as a getaway vehicle following a shooting in Richmond Hill GA on Wednesday August 20th. Savannah-Chatham Officers then spotted the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop resulting in a high speed pursuit on Highway 17 North which ended at Deer Run Apartments in Hardeeville where several suspects were observed exiting the vehicle by a pursuing Savannah-Chatham Police helicopter and fleeing into one of the residences. Richmond Hill Officers, Savannah-Chatham Officers, Jasper County Deputies, Hardeeville Officers and Ridgeland Officers then converged on the area where a perimeter was established as a Police K-9 tracked the suspects from the stolen vehicle in the parking lot to an apartment door. Numerous attempts were made to talk the suspects out of the apartment which were met with negative results. Ridgeland Officers and Jasper County Deputies ultimately made entry into the apartment where five suspects were found in various rooms and taken into custody. Numerous pieces of evidence were recovered including 4 handguns inside the apartment and another by a wooded area adjacent to the vehicle the suspects were driving. Two of the handguns were reported stolen out of Savannah GA. Germaine Grant, 25 of Savannah GA, Malic Stephens, 20 of Savannah GA, Harkeem Coney, 23 of Savannah GA, Willie Stephens, 24 of Bluffton SC and Jawuan Heyward, 20 of Savannah GA, were all transported to the Jasper County Detention Center under local drug charges awaiting extradition back to Georgia.

Officers responded to a report of gunshots at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue where Torrell Kemp, 28 of Ridgeland, was found in front of his residence with a gunshot wound to the leg. He was transported by EMS Personnel to Savannah Memorial Hospital for treatment.

A domestic dispute was reported at a residence on Oakridge Drive in the Oakridge Trailer Park in reference to a female subject refusing to leave when told by the homeowner. No charges were filed.

A blue Honda Accord was stopped for an equipment violation at the intersection of West Main Street and Sisters Ferry Road where passenger Dimario Garrett attempted to provide Officers with a fictitious name in an effort to conceal his identity. After his true name was revealed he was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center for providing false information to Police as well as having two outstanding warrants for his arrest issed by the Ridgeland Police Department. The driver of the vehicle, Shakeemiah Frost, 18 of Tillman SC, was cited and assigned a court date for the equipment violation as well as providing false information to Police before being allowed to leave the scene. Dimario Garrett’s charges stemmed from an October 11, 2013 traffic stop where he was placed under arrest at the Short Stop BP Station at 10728 South Jacob Smart Boulevard for driving under suspension and for an outstanding warrant for a receiving stolen goods conviction in December of 2012. He was then found guilty of the driving under suspension charge in Ridgeland Municipal Court on November 4, 2013 and placed on a time payment plan to settle the Court ordered fines which he failed to comply with resulting in a warrant being issued for his arrest on February 10, 2014. A second warrant was then issued for the receiving stolen goods conviction after Garrett failed to pay the victim restitution as ordered by Judge T. Scoggins.

Officers responded to activated alarms at the Handy Dan’s Exxon Station at 8310 East Main Street and the Wright Directions Family Services Center at 60 South Railroad Avenue.

A harassment complaint was filed by a subject at the Pizza Bella Restaurant at 8196 East Main Street. No charges were filed.

AUGUST 19, 2014

A fight involving four males against one was reported on Shadetree Street in the Carters Mill Estates Community. While en route Officers were advised that a white Mitsubishi Galant was used as the getaway vehicle for the four males which had exited onto Carters Mill Road. Officers then spotted the Galant and conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Carters Mill Road and West Adams Street where the driver stated that he was a witness to the fight and had transported two of the suspects involved to the intersection of Carters Mill Road and Shadetree Street where he dropped them off but was unaware of their names. Upon further investigation Officers learned that the fight had been pre-arranged stemming from an incident at school earlier in the day. No charges were filed.

Officers responded to a domestic dispute in the parking lot of the Carolina Lodge Motel at 8260 East Main Street involving three people. No parties wished to pursue charges.

A harassment complaint was filed by an employee of the Subway Restaurant at 8234 East Main. No charges were filed.

Officers responding to an activated alarm at an unoccupied residence on North Railroad Avenue discovered an open back door which appeared to have been kicked in. There were no signs of entry into the residence and no items reported stolen after the homeowner arrived on scene.

A suspicious vehicle was reported at the Star Point BP Station at 11122 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

A gold Mercury Sable was stopped for defective equipment violations at the intersection of North Green and West Wilson Streets where driver Marcos Guzman Vazquez was found to be operating without a driver’s license. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Scott’s Automotive took possession of the vehicle.

Officers responded to activated alarms at the Ridgeland Physical Therapy Office at 10616 South Jacob Smart Boulevard, a residence on Wiley Street and two separate activations at the Kingdom Touch Ministries Church at 6714 Tillman Road.

AUGUST 18, 2014

A black Toyota Camry was stopped for speeding on I-95 South where driver Kevin Willis was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center after being found to be in possession of a quantity of crack cocaine. Passenger Ronald Palmer, 64 of Ridgeland SC, was found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana which he was cited for and assigned a court date before being allowed to leave the area. The vehicle was released to the custody of a licensed driver with Willis’ permission.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on Wiley Street.

A disabled bus caused minor traffic congestion for a short time at the intersection of North Jacob Smart Boulevard and Third Avenue.

A report of illegal drug activity was filed in reference to a residence on Sunset Circle.

Chanta Orr was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center from the Ridgeland Municipal Court after being found guilty and sentenced to 30 days in jail by Judge T. Scoggins in reference to a public disorderly conduct charge stemming from a July 18th traffic stop at the intersection of Smith’s Crossing and Mitchelville Road.

A domestic dispute was reported at a residence on First Avenue. No charges were filed.

A suspicious subject was reported at Turpin Park at 901 North Logan Street.

Keikeiliyo Manker was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center from the Ridgeland Municipal Court after being found guilty and sentenced to 90 days in jail by Judge T. Scoggins in reference to a driving under suspension 6th offense stemming from an August 1st traffic stop.

AUGUST 17, 2014

A white 2003 Ford F350 pickup was reported stolen from a residence on Fifth Avenue sometime between 8:00 pm August 16th and 2:30 am August 17th. The keys were left inside of the vehicle parked in the driveway which currently has GJ’s Auto Sales tags displayed.

A domestic dispute was reported at a residence at Logan Lane Apartments at 544 South Logan Street. No charges were filed.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on Wiley Street.

A trespassing complaint was filed at a residence on Oakridge South in the Oakridge Trailer Park Community in reference to a male subject being caught inside of the complainant’s daughter’s bedroom despite being told not to return to the residence. The male fled into a wooded area prior to the Officer’s arrival.

A Ford Focus and GMC Sierra were involved in a collision on I-95 North around the 23 mile marker. No injuries were reported.

Officers responded to a domestic dispute between a male and female at the Siesta Motel at 10530 South Jacob Smart Boulevard where Russell Carriger was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

AUGUST 16, 2014

A blue Chevy Trailblazer ran off the roadway on I-95 North around the 21 mile marker. No injuries were reported as Little T’s towing pulled the vehicle back onto the roadway at the driver’s request.

A silver Pontiac was stopped for an improper turn and driving left of center on East Main Street at the entrance to the Harvey’s Grocery Store at 8205 East Main Street where driver Juan Miguel Mata-Gonzalez was found to be operating under the influence as passengers Roberto Guttierez and Jose Penada were both found to be in possession of open containers of beer. All three subjects were placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Little T’s Towing took possession of the vehicle.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the R&M Small Engine Repair Service at 11211 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

A traveler from a Greyhound Bus stopped at the KFC Restaurant at 8146 East Main Street was struck by a Toyota sport utility as he attempted to cross the roadway towards the Dollar General Store without yielding to oncoming traffic. The pedestrian was checked by EMS Personnel before continuing on his way.

Officers responded to a domestic dispute at a residence at Heron Crossing Apartments at 72 Heron Crossing Drive. No charges were filed as both parties separated for the evening.

AUGUST 15, 2014

A 14 year old female juvenile was discovered by Patrol Officers at the Taylor’s BP Station at 80 Blue Heron Drive with no guardians or relatives in the area. Her grandmother on St. Helena Island was contacted by telephone as the juvenile was transported to the Ridgeland Police Department where she was later turned over to her grandmother’s custody.

A bicycle was discovered lying in the yard of a residence on West Main Street which was collected by Officers and returned to the rightful owner.

A 16 year old female juvenile reportedly left her residence on Second Avenue without permission. She was soon after located by Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputies and returned to the home.

A purse containing several pieces of identification and an undisclosed amount of cash was reported stolen from the Burger King Restaurant at 8257 East Main Street after having been accidentally left on the counter around 6:00 p.m. Upon returning to the restaurant the owner was advised that no purse had been turned in. Surveillance video is being reviewed for suspect identification and pending charges.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Jasper County Magistrate’s Office at 967 West Adams Street.

A domestic dispute was reported at a residence on Hagin Drive. No charges were filed.

A red and gray Honda push mower was reported stolen from a residence on Promise Way. The mower was last seen sometime Wednesday afternoon.

AUGUST 14, 2014

Numerous reports were filed throughout the nighttime hours and into the morning in reference to various vehicles being damaged with eggs as well as several being broken into at residences on Wiley Street, McCormack Avenue, Hagin Drive and Second Avenue. Additional reports were received concerning property damage at J&M Towing at 163 South Green Street and a go-cart stolen from a residence on Third Avenue. Patrol Officers then spotted the go-cart in the Ridgeland Cemetery occupied by two male juveniles who fled into a wooded area as the Officer approached. One was shortly after captured by a Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputy as he attempted to get into a vehicle on First Avenue. The second was later located at a residence on Old House Road and a third at a residence on Wiley Street. All three were transported to the Ridgeland Police Department where interviews were conducted as well as detention screenings prior to them being transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice Detention Center in Columbia SC. Two of the three were additionally charged with the August 5th theft of a go-cart from a residence on North Jasper Street that ended with a section of railing being damaged at a residence on First Avenue.

A residence on McCormack Avenue was awakened just before 3:00 a.m. to the sound of breaking glass in her living room. After investigating the cause of the sound a hammer was discovered lying on the floor having been thrown through a window from outside of the home.

A Palmetto Breeze transportation bus struck an overhead section of the Jasper County Council on Aging at 444 Wise Street. No injuries were reported.

Officers responded to activated alarms at the Kingdom Touch Ministries Church at 6714 Tillman Road, the Ridgeland Boys & Girls Club at 913 Grays Highway and the former Owens Supply Store at 9454 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

AUGUST 13, 2014

A black male armed with a handgun hiding inside of a large section of bushes approached two employees standing outside of the Family Dollar Store at 73 South Green Street just before 10 p.m. forcing them back inside of the business at gunpoint where he stole an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing the area.

A property damage report was filed by a resident on Shadetree Street in the Carters Mill Estates Community after the homeowner was awakened by the sound of breaking glass. A check of the residence revealed a section of broken glass on the exterior pane of a bedroom window.

Officers responded to a domestic dispute at a residence on Shadetree Street in the Carters Mill Estates Community. No charges were filed.

A gold Chevy Tahoe was stopped for failure to yield right of way at a stop sign at Smith’s Crossing and South Jacob Smart Boulevard where driver Lesley Chaneyfield, 41 of Ridgeland, was found to be operating without insurance coverage. She was cited for the offenses and assigned a court date before leaving the scene as A-1 Towing took possession of the vehicle.

A trespassing complaint was filed at a residence on First Avenue in reference to a subject refusing to leave. No charges were filed as the subject left of his own accord after speaking with the responding Officer.

A property damage report was filed by a motorist operating a red Mazda 5 after striking a large piece of tire debris in the roadway on I-95 South causing damage to the front bumper.

A Ford Crown Victoria and a Toyota Avalon were involved in a collision on I-95 North around the 22 mile marker. No injuries were reported.

A red GMC Sierra was stopped for an improper turn and driving left of center on Shadetree Street where driver Anselmo Antonio Hernandez was found to be operating under a suspended South Carolina driver’s license stemming from a previous DUI conviction. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center. The vehicle was left at a residence on Shadetree Street with Hernandez’s permission.

Two suspicious persons were reportedly knocking on the door of a residence on Hagin Drive.

A homeowner on Second Avenue was awakened to the sound of barking dogs around 11:00 p.m. at which time he observed a black male rummaging through his unlocked vehicle parked in front of the residence. The homeowner then went outside to confront the suspect who immediately fled the area on foot.

AUGUST 12, 2014

Officers responded to a residence on Colony Drive in the Bees Creek Plantation Community in reference to an assault that occurred at the football field behind the Ridgeland Alternative School at 456 Grays Highway where a 16 year old male struck a 12 year old male in the face during a dispute. A juvenile petition was filed against the 16 year old juvenile and forwarded to the Department of Juvenile Justice.

A blue Ford Mustang was stopped for speeding on I-95 South where driver Arillzon Acosta was found to be operating without a driver’s license. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Elite Towing took possession of the vehicle.

Officers responded to the Rite Aid Pharmacy at 8225 East Main Street where Tyrell Marquis Campfield, 19 of Allendale SC, was placed on trespass notice at the request of Management.

A property damage report was filed by a motorist on I-95 South in reference to her white 2010 Buick Lacrosse being struck by several pieces of debris which allegedly fell from a semi trailer around the 22 mile marker.

Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies at a residence on Bees Creek Road where Ricardo Garcia, 37 of Ridgeland, became combative with Deputies attempting to place him under arrest for a trespassing charge after he attempted to get inside of the residence despite being told to leave the property by the homeowner. He was ultimately taken into custody without further incident and transported to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for treatment and later taken to the Jasper County Detention Center under the charges of trespassing and resisting arrest as well as being served an oustanding warrant issued against him in July by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office for driving without a license.

A trespass notice was renewed against Warren Brown Jr., 37 of Tillman, for the property of Logan Lane Apartments at 544 South Logan Street. The notice was originally issued on January 13, 2014 and expired July 13th.

A loud music complaint was filed at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue. No charges were filed.

A suspicious person was reportedly knocking on random doors at the Siesta Motel at 10530 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

A white Toyota Camry was stopped for speeding on I-95 North where passenger Colin Erickson, 20 of Archdale NC, was found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana. He was escorted to the Ridgeland Municipal Clerk of Court’s Office at 1 Town Square where he paid a fine for the offense.

AUGUST 11, 2014

A property damage report was filed at the South State Bank Location at 10671 South Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to the drive up ATM. Video footage is being reviewed for suspect identification and pending charges.

A white Ford F150 was stopped in front of the Palms Motel at 10735 South Jacob Smart Boulevard after running a stop sign at North Logan and Main Street. The driver of the vehicle, Eulalio Marquez-Mateo, was found to be operating without a driver’s license at which time he was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center. The vehicle was released to a licensed driver with Mateo’s permission.

A civil dispute was filed at the Ridgeland Coin Laundry at 10246 South Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to one party accusing the other of owing money to them for work previously done.

A gray Mini Cooper was reportedly struck by a piece of tire debris from a tractor trailer around the 18 mile marker on I-95 South. No injuries were reported.

A harassment report was filed by a tenant at the Siesta Motel at 10530 South Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to an ex-boyfriend showing up uninvited and sending unwanted text messages. No charges were filed.

A welfare check was conducted on a male subject on Live Oak Farm Road after information was received that he may want to do harm to himself. The subject was transported by EMS Personnel to Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville for evaluation.

AUGUST 10, 2014

A two tone gray over tan 2005 Ford F250 bearing SC tag number P322881 was stolen from the parking lot of the Quality Inn Motel at 221 James Taylor Dirve sometime between 9:30 p.m. August 9th and 6:45 a.m. August 10th.

A red Ford Explorer was stopped for speeding on I-95 South where driver Jesus Manuel was found to be operating without a driver’s license as well as having no vehicle registration in his possession. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as J&M Towing took possession of the vehicle.

Charles Brown was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center after being found intoxicated at Turpin Park at 901 North Logan Street.

An open door was discovered on a vacant residence on Hagin Drive which was recently burglarized on May 2nd. A search of the residence showed no signs of forced entry and all doors and windows were secured by Officers prior to leaving.

A burgundy Chevy Tahoe was stopped for speeding on Russell Street at the First Avenue intersection where driver Gerardo Hernandez-Leyva was found to be operating without a driver’s license. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as the vehicle was released to a licensed passenger with Leyva’s permission.

AUGUST 9, 2014

A purse was reportedly stolen from an unlocked vehicle at a residence on Red Drum Street in the Carters Mill Estates Community containing several pieces of identification as well as an undisclosed amount of cash. Approximately 2 hours prior to the call Patrol Officers recovered a wallet lying on the sidewalk in front of the Shell Station at 8309 East Main Street which was found to have been one of the items contained in the purse. The wallet was returned to the victim but was found to be missing the stolen cash.

A civil dispute was reported at the Carolina Lodge Motel in reference to Management allegedly not allowing a tenant access to their room. No charges were filed.

Officers responded to activated alarms at the Schooner’s Bar & Grill at 10953 North Jacob Smart Boulevard, the Main Street Pharmacy at 7752 West Main Street and a residence on Fourth Avenue.

An assault was reported on West Main Street during a dispute over a box fan during a yard sale. The victim declined pursuing charges.

A domestic dispute was reported at a residence on First Avenue after a female allegedly refused to allow her live in boyfriend to gather personal belongings. No charges were filed.

AUGUST 8, 2014

A silver Volkswagen Jetta was stopped for displaying an expired Kentucky tag stemming from a no insurance violation on South Jacob Smart Boulevard at the Woodlawn Street intersection. Upon further investigation the vehicle tag was found to have been altered in an effort to change the expiration date and driver Brandon Enlow was found to be operating without a driver’s license in addition to being listed as a wanted person by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office for an assault and battery charge. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Blatchley’s Towing took possession of the vehicle.

Two males were reportedly throwing rocks at a residence on West Smith Street before fleeing the area on foot. No damage was reported.

A 2005 Honda motorcycle was involved in a single vehicle collision when the operator lost control around the 17 mile marker causing traffic congestion for a short period of time on I-95 South. The driver was examined by EMS Personnel before leaving continuing South.

A suspicious vehicle was reported at Turpin Park at 901 North Logan Street.

A domestic dispute was reported at a residence on Dolphin Drive in the Carters Mill Estates Community in reference to the complainant’s girlfriend hiding his keys and attempting to puncture his vehicle tires. No charges were filed.

Gary Shumpert was observed by Patrol Officers asking customers for money in the parking lot of the Taylor’s BP Station at 80 Blue Heron Drive. As Officers approached Shumpert he began cursing loudly and was found to be intoxicated at which time he was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

Officers responded to activated alarms at the former Owens Supply Store at 9454 South Jacob Smart Boulevard, the Kingdom Touch Ministries Church at 6714 Tillman Road and another at a residence on McCormack Avenue.

A domestic dispute was reported at a residence on Wise Street after the complainant’s boyfriend reportedly damaged property inside of the home during an argument. No charges were filed.

A suspicious vehicle was reported outside of the main entry gate at the Ridgeland Correctional Institution at 1 Correctional Road.

AUGUST 7, 2014

A blue 2000 Chrysler Town & Country mini van was reported stolen from a residence on First Avenue. The incident is said to have occurred sometime between Sunday August 3rd and Wednesday August 6th. Pavement markings indicate that the vehicle was pulled out of the driveway due to having a flat tire and an inoperable engine.

A 1994 GMC Sierra occupied by two black males and one white female was reportedly driving recklessly at a high rate of speed on the Blue Heron Nature Trail as a group of children were being given a tour. The group guide asked the driver to please slow down due to children being in the area at which time she was threatened and told to get out of the way.

A stolen check with a forged signature was received at Dot’s Red Dot Store at 163 South Green Street. The lawful owner of the check later settled the financial loss with the store Manager and stated that she does not wish to pursue charges against the suspect who presented the check due to it being a relative.

A report of illegal drug activity inside of a vehicle was filed at Baytree Apartments at 107 First Avenue.

A gold Ford Expedition was stopped for a suspended tag stemming from a no insurance violation at a residence on Shadetree Street where driver Jose Luis Cabrera-Guerra was found to be operating without a driver’s license with one previous conviction for driving without a license. Guerra told the Officer that he had gone to the store for milk for his two 6 month old twin babies that were left inside of the residence. Officers then asked if there was anyone inside with the children to which Guerra stated that he had left them alone while he went to the store. Officers then entered the residence to check on the welfare of the children at which time they discovered two small goats insde one of the bedrooms. Guerra was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as A-1 Towing took possession of the vehicle.

A 1999 Nissan Sentra was involved in a collision on I-95 North when the driver fell asleep and struck the Captain Bill Road overpass supports. No injuries were reported.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Ridgeland Boys & Girls Club at 913 Grays Highway and another at the Wright Directions Family Center at 60 South Railroad Avenue.

A male subject was reported living in a tent on the property of the Handy Dan’s Exxon Station at 8310 East Main Street. The subject left the area without incident.

A South State Bank debit card belonging to a resident on North Green Street was reportedly used on three separate occassions to make purchases totaling several hundred dollars without permission at the Harvey’s Grocery Store at 8205 East Main Street. The complainant later contacted the responding Officer by phone and stated that she had been mistaken and that the purchases were made by her.

A property damage report was filed by a resident on First Avenue in reference to a male subject driving a go cart colliding with a front porch handrail and then leaving the area without reporting the collision. A few hours later a go cart was reported stolen from a residence on North Jasper Street and shortly after recovered parked behind a residence on First Avenue.

Nathaniel Burrison was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center after being found intoxicated sleeping on a bench at the Gopher Tortoise Square on North Railroad Avenue.

Two suspicious persons were reported at the Taylor’s BP Station at 80 Blue Heron Drive.

A GPS unit was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle during the nighttime hours at a residence on Second Avenue. A separate vehicle break in was reported at another residence on Second Avenue with no items reported missing.

AUGUST 4, 2014

Miyake Jenkins was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center from the Ridgeland Police Department following a rule to show cause hearing. Jenkins was originally charged with assault and battery 3rd on April 16, 2014 following an incident at Harvey’s Grocery Store at 8205 East Main Street. She was then placed under arrest at her home on Annette Road on April 17th and later found guilty of the charge in Ridgeland Municipal Court on May 19th. She was then placed on a time payment plan to settle the Court ordered fines which she failed to comply with resulting in a warrant being issued for her arrest.

Investigators spotted Leonard Jones in front of the Ridgeland Weekly Rentals at 67 West Woodlawn Street where he was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center in reference to an outstanding warrant stemming from a shoplifting incident at the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store on July 30, 2014 where he was captured on surveillance video attempting to steal store items.

Anthony Gibson was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center from his residence on Holly Street in reference to an outstanding warrant. Gibson’s charges stemmed from an August 2nd, 2014 incident at the intersection of Main Street and Jacob Smart Boulevard where he assaulted a female victim in an attempt to get her car keys from her after being refused a ride to purchase illegal narcotics.

A Meals on Wheels van struck a legally parked and unoccupied Toyota in the parking lot of the Jasper County Council on Aging at 444 Wise Street. No injuries were reported.

A white Buick Century was stopped for an improper turn violation on Russell Street at the First Avenue intersection where driver Cynthia Ford, 39 of Ridgeland, was found to be operating without valid insurance coverage. She was cited for the offense and assigned a court date as Webster’s Towing took possession of the vehicle. Ford was issued a courtesy warning for the signal violation after admitting to the Officer that they were defective and not working properly.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Glover Real Estate Office at 835 Glover Road.

A suspicious person was reported at the pavillion next to the Jasper’s Porch Restaurant at 153 James Taylor Drive.

Thaita Jones, 46 of Ridgeland, was stopped for a defective equipment violation while driving a white Pontiac Grand Prix on West Main Street at the North Railroad intersection where she was found to be listed as a wanted person by the Ridgeland Police Department. She was then escorted to the Ridgeland Municipal Clerk of Court’s Office where she paid her Court ordered fines. Jones’ charges stemmed from an October 3, 2013 incident at the Star Point BP Station at 11122 North Jacob Smart Boulevard where she was captured on surveillance video stealing two money orders from the business counter. She was then placed under arrest at the Waffle House Restaurant at 8185 East Main Street on November 13th and found guilty of the charges in Ridgeland Municipal Court on December 9, 2013 and placed on a time payment plan to settle the Court ordered fines which she failed to comply with resulting in a warrant being issued for her arrest.

A property damage report was filed at the Jasper County Department of Juvenile Justice Office at 1504 Grays Highway after a door lock was found to have been pried off. No items were reported missing from inside of the building.

Renaldo Frazier was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center from the Ridgeland Police Department following a rule to show cause hearing. Frazier’s charges stemmed from a February 19, 2014 traffic stop on the I-95 North on ramp at exit 21 where he was found operating a maroon Chevy Malibu under a suspended South Carolina driver’s license. He was found guilty of the charge in Ridgeland Municipal Court on March 10, 2014 and placed on a time payment plan to settle the Court ordered fines which he failed to comply with resulting in a warrant being issued for his arrest.

A property damage report was filed at the Ridgeland Police Department in reference to a vehicle at Ridge Pointe Apartments at 669 North Green Street.

A burgundy Buick Century was stopped for an equipment violation on Smith’s Crossing at the Wise Street intersection where driver Marvin McNair was found to be operating under a suspended South Carolina driver’s license for failure to pay traffic ticket violations. McNair had no identification in his possession but provided the arresting Officer with an inmate wristband bearing his name and date of birth. He was placed under arrest for the driving under suspension charge at which time he was found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana resulting in an additional charge. He was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Scott’s Automotive took possession of the vehicle.

AUGUST 3, 2014

Officers responded to the Waffle House Restaurant at 8185 East Main Street after a customer was assaulted by a man armed with a handgun. Review of the restaurant surveillance video shows Rohaime Hopkins, 35 of Ridgeland, entering the restaurant and approaching the victim from behind at which time he strikes him in the back of the head with a handgun and then again in the forehead when the victim turns. Hopkins then fled the area on foot last seen running towards East Main Street. Warrants have been issued for his arrest under the charges of assault & battery 2nd, felon in possession of a handgun & unlawful carry of a handgun.

Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies responding to a domestic dispute at a residence on Forest Street involving two parties who were both reportedly armed.

A suspicious vehicle was reported at the Plantation Inn at 11433 North Jacob Smart Boulevard.

A report of illegal drug activity was filed in reference to the Ridgeland Weekly Rentals at 67 West Woodlawn Street.

A wallet was recovered at the Ridgeland Coin Laundry at 10246 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

Two suspicious vehicles were reported behind the Ridgeland Boys & Girls Club at 456 Grays Highway.

A suspicious vehicle was reported at Turpin Park at 901 North Logan Street.

A domestic dispute was reported at a residence on Hagin Drive. No charges were filed.

A juvenile reported missing to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office was discovered at the Dollar General Store at 8123 East Main Street and a second on East Wilson Street. Both were transported by Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputies to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at a residence on East Wilson Street.

A couterfeit $20 bill was recovered at the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store at 10847 North Jacob Smart Boulevard to be turned over to the US Secret Service.

An incorrigible 16 year old male juvenile was reported at a residence on Allen Drive who left the residence despite being told not to by his mother. No charges were filed.

An assault was reported at the Ridgeland Weekly Rentals at 67 West Woodlawn Street where a female subject was struck by another during a dispute over a cell phone. Evelina Hamilton was ultimately placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center under the charge of assault & battery.

A blue and gray 18 speed bicycle was stolen from the front porch of a residence on Colony Drive in the Bees Creek Plantation Community between 8 and 10:45 pm.

A suspicious vehicle was reported at the Wendys Restaurant at 8480 Grahamville Road.

Officers responded to a harassment complaint at the Days Inn Motel at 8216 East Main Street where Earl Swinton was found to be on the property intoxicated and causing a disturbance with employees. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center under the charge of public drunk.

A civil dispute was reported at the Handy Dan’s Gulf Station at 8250 East Main Street in reference to a gasoline purchase.

A report of illegal drug activity was filed at the Siesta Motel at 10530 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

An assault report was filed at the Ridgeland Police Department in reference to an incident at the intersection of Main Street and Jacob Smart Boulevard where a male subject asking for a ride to purchase illegal narcotics attempted to snatch the victim’s car keys out of her hand. A witness to the event then told the victim that Police were being notified at which time the suspect fled from the area on foot. A warrant affidavit has been filed against Anthony Bernard Gibson, 42 of Ridgeland, for the offense of assault & battery.

Officers responded to activated alarms at the Carolina Collision Auto Body Shop at 11365 North Jacob Smart Boulevard and another at a residence on Bailey Lane.

A suspicious vehicle was reported driving without headlights on West Main Street.

A vehicle was captured on surveillance video striking the fence and then fleeing the area at the Grayco Building Supply Store at 119 Industrial Park Road. The footage is being reveiwed for pending charges.

AUGUST 1, 2014

Ridgeland Officers assisted Jasper County Deputies during a driver safety checkpoint at the intersection of Smith’s Crossing and Mitchelville Road where a silver Subaru Legacy approached having equipment lighting violations. After obtaining driver Derrick Marquell Edwards, 20 of Ridgeland, identification Officers observed him to show signs of impaired driving at which time he was told to step out of the vehicle. Edwards then rapidly accelerated forward initiating a pursuit heading North on Smith’s Crossing towards Bees Creek Road refusing to stop for blue lights and siren. Edwards ultimately stopped on Smith’s Crossing Road approximately 1 mile from the Highway 462 intersection where he exited the vehicle and fled on foot. A warrant affidavit was later filed against him for the charge of failure to stop for blue lights and siren as J&M Towing took possession of the vehicle.

Two suspicious persons were reported in the parking lot of the Waffle House Restaurant at 8185 East Main Street.

A civil dispute was reported at the Sunoco Station at 11965 North Jacob Smart Boulevard in reference to several missing items following an eviction process.

A black Ford Expedition was stopped in front of the South State Bank at 10671 South Jacob Smart Boulevard where driver Keikeiliyo Manker was found to be operating under a suspended South Carolina driver’s license with five previous convictions for driving under suspension as well as being listed by the Department of Motor Vehicles as a habitual traffic offender. She was placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center as Little T’s Towing took possession of the vehicle.

Three suspicious persons were reported at the New Hong Kong Restaurant at 8176 East Main Street.

A theft was reported by a tenant at the Siesta Motel at 10530 South Jacob Smart Boulevard after several personal items were allegedly stolen from the complainant’s room.

A domestic dispute was reported at the Dollar General Store at 8123 East Main Street in reference to an estranged husband chasing his former wife out of the store threatening to do harm to her. The female was able to get into her vehicle and lock the door as the male continued to attempt to get inside at which time she fled the area. A warrant affidavit has been filed against Antonio James Gadson, 27 of Ridgeland, for the offense of criminal domestic violence.

A male subject armed with a handgun was reported in the parking lot of the Siesta Motel at 10530 South Jacob Smart Boulevard.

Officers responded to an activated alarm at the Church of Christ at 112 East Wilson Street.

A suspicious vehicle was reported in the parking lot of the Taylor’s BP Station at 80 Blue Heron Drive after the alarm was continuously activated for an extended period.
